In the wake of the financial meltdown, President Barack Obama derided Wall Street bonuses as “obscene,” calling them examples of “fat cats who are getting awarded for their failure.”
But now, Mr. Obama has announced that he will nominate as his next Treasury secretary Jack Lew, a man who in 2009 bagged a $950,000 bonus after his bank, Citigroup, received billions in a taxpayer-funded bailout.
but that was then and this is now!!
Will Bill Maher pay up?

The Met Office has downgraded its forecast for global warming to suggest that by 2017 temperatures will have remained about the same for two decades.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/climatechange/9787662/Global-warming-at-a-standstill-new-Met-Office-figures-show.html“>Source.
It had been thought that this would be 0.54C during the period 2012 -2016 but new data puts the figure for the 2013-2017 period at 0.43C.
Why do i keep hearing that when Obama won the election it was a mandate to raise taxes? I thought people voted for him because he advocated free birht control, won the war on women discussion, got the black vote because he is black, got the hispanic vote for whatever reason since he deported more of them than anyother president before him, and other various liberal leanings…maybe deducting these he didnt get a mandate on that issue….
No cable news shows in the weekly top 25.
Looks like me & 1966 are on a roll.
Now the college Bowl games are over things should get back to normal. I’ll guess a show will need a high 3 million to make the list. Cable news shows aren’t making the daily cable ratings yet. I’ll go with no cable news shows on next week’s top 25.
Broadcasts’s lowest show in the weekly top 25 Mike & Molly special – 6714.
Cable’s top show (non sporting) in the weekly top 25 Tangled – 5397.
Using Steve Perry logic cable TV is dying.
i’ll predict 0 in the top 25 and 0 inthe top 50.

Heh! Another failed prediction.
But Billhilly, we can all thank the anointed one, King Obama for bringing to and end all of the turmoils of the world and universe! He stopped global warming and will protect the economy of Hawaii and golf courses as long as he remains in office!
C’ya
He has a point!!!
Sessions: Lew must ‘never’ be Treasury secretary
The top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee will oppose Jack Lew’s nomination to be Treasury secretary.
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) has prepared a statement saying “Jack Lew must never be Secretary of Treasury.”
He is not saying yet whether he will filibuster the nomination, however, which sources say President Obama will announce Thursday.
Sessions expects that the Lew nomination will fail in the Senate, an aide said.
The senator says Lew misrepresented Obama’s 2012 budget by claiming that it did not add to the debt.
“His testimony before the Senate Budget Committee less than two years ago was so outrageous and false that it alone disqualifies,” a draft statement says.
Lew, as the president’s budget director, appeared before Congress and insisted that Obama’s budget — which Lew had crafted — would not add to the debt of the United States. His original statement, to a national television audience, was as follows:
“Our budget will get us, over the next several years, to the point where we can look the American people in the eye and say we’re not adding to the debt anymore; we’re spending money that we have each year, and then we can work on bringing down our national debt,” Lew said.
Sessions’s draft statement says: “To ‘look the American people in the eye’ and make such a statement remains the most direct and important false assertion during my entire time in Washington.”

Having a bad day with my typing.
Along with a bad day with your predictions, you seem to be having a normal day.
Who? Who set this standard, and when did they set it? WTF are you talking about?
That article, which is an opinion piece, is purposely being misleading, and contradicting it’s own information; why you are posting things that you yourself should know by now to be factually inaccurate is beyond me. You should at least be aware that 2000 – 2010 was the warmest global decade, which is the opposite of ‘no warming.’
Honestly, and I have no way of asking this without being condescending, but did you not even read the data in the article, and then question the contradictions of the author’s conclusions? All the data says is that the global average for the next several years is projected to be above the long-term average, just not as far above the average as previously projected, much as the 2000s were above the average but below the projected average. This does not mean that warming isn’t happening, it means the severity was around 1/5th lower than projected. There’s a difference between ‘below projection’ and ‘no warming.’ Don’t willingly propagandize.
You can find almost any data you want on global warming–or as they now call it Climate change. When I ckd your data I found it on Think Progress–a site I have no confidence in.
However, the temperature estimates from the other three major climate monitoring agencies—the Hadley Meteorological Centre (HadCrut), University of Huntsville at Alabama (UAH) and Remote Sensing Systems (RSS)—all show temperatures for the last decade considerably lower than the GISS estimate. In fact, they even show some cooling. The latter two agencies, UAH and RSS, rely on satellite data, which many regard as more reliable than ground temperature estimates.
@ratboy, you bad boy… That was funny. I’m glad I had my depends on.
DB, I’m only guessing. His post read like a high school or early college student. I could be wrong.
We all have to make choices. We can’t fight everything & I don’t fight the GW battle.

cathy,
Regarding Honey Boo Boo , I’ve never seen the show. The only shows I watch that are semi reality ones are ‘Chopped’ & ‘Restaurant Impossible.’ I’ve never seen ‘Survivor,’ ‘American Idol’, ‘Dancing with the Stars, ‘ or any of their ilk.
Yet, I’ve read that Honey’s ,Mama June, puts most of the show’s earnings in a trust fund for her four daughters and granddaughter – and it won’t be available to them until they turn 21. The only allowances are for medical emergencies and school.
The family bills get paid by her husband Sugarbear’s job as a contractor. Their biggest splurge since their TV success thus far has been a 2005 Ford Expedition SUV.
H.B. would be proud of this .
But,
Kathleen Parker had an article yesterday in the Wash Po. about Miss Boo Boo . This stayed with me :
“If we don’t revel in the hilarity of poor, uneducated people, neither do we protest their exploitation. Our silence conveys approval while ratings disprove objection. Our 1st amendment allows us to tolerate the worst in defense of the best.” Sad isn’t it ?
Does Ed Schultz have a G.E.D. He truly is the dumbest S.O.B. on television.A tenth grade dropout.Illiterate slug.
In fact, they don’t, unless you filter for single month trends, which are even more useless than single year trends. For UAH, you have to go all the way back to 1994 to find a negative trend…of -0.003. Every year since then is an increase; that is not cooling, that is not ‘no-warming,’ its a warming trend.
Well, I just got back from the hallowed halls and noticed that there were a pethora of erroneous comments on this site, as usual, by the usual uninformed suspects. Stricter gun control is favored by 61% of Americans, according to the latest CNN national survey. Many other surverys have shown similar numbers. There is no 2nd Amendment involved here, notwithstanding the absurd comments of some bozo from the NRA on Pers Morgan the other night. There is no need for citizens to have assault type weapons with large magazines with tunbling bullets–sales of these will only fall into the hands of lunatics and result in mass murder of children, etc., as we see almost every month. World renowned leaders are coming out against the NRA’s absurd stance–”good guys have guns”–are you kidding?? Even Repubs (Christ Christie, e.g.) debunked this NRA stance as absurd. The NRA wants to line its pockets with blood money and responsible people have to stop this. And they will!!!!!!! It’s time to end the NRA lobby…..
