    @ d.d.

I was not sure of the specific changes but the companies are looking at every possible way to get aroung the Obamacare mess! I have turned down numerous requests for staffing consulting already this year and it all relates to Obamacare.
I could make huge money but this old guy has decided to wind down a bit. I have talked to a couple of guys and gals that I have worked with in the past doing some of the same things I do and they are booked solid all related to Obamacare and the fiscal cliff fallout. One guy that works with mostly small business said that 30 – 40% of his clients would be better off closing up shop!

I am all for a Presidential Executive Order to ban assault weapons, the media with the exception of Idiots on Fox News are really pounding this issue as it needs to be.

    Fox News Foolery….as of late.

The founding Fathers said…..give gun lovers access to muskets and bayonets,
Ford Cars Kill People………Ford Cars are made for driving not killing, dumb @sses.
Huckabee- not too much guns, too much sin…..go eat another chicken sandwich moron.
Blame Hollywood………I can agree with that, movies and games are way too violent, regulate that after you ban assault weapons.

I am all for a Presidential Executive Order

You need to find a new place to live! Here in the USA we have THREE branches of government! Can you say legislative branch?????

  • Sam

Political movies are doing well this Oscars season, my picks :

    Best Picture : Argo

Leading Actor : Daniel Day Lewis, “Lincoln”

Leading Actress : Jessica Chastain, “Zero Dark Thirty”

Supporting Actor : Christoph Waltz, “Django Unchained”

Supporting Actress : Amy Adams, “The Master”

  • Jeff

Bush 41 issued an Executive order banning particular assult weapons after a violent inncodent. So did Clinton!

You need to find a new history book.

Can you say Google, Library, or research?????

  • Sam

    @ Jeff,

‘Blame Hollywood………I can agree with that, movies and games are way too violent, regulate that after you ban assault weapons.”

The film industry is already bombarded with regulations. If your film gets rated for a limited audience than you hoped, you’re gonna lose money. Beside that films are seen worldwide without leaving violent affects in societies. The difference is that other countries limit the access to guns while here it’s easier to buy an assault rifle than a bottle of booze.

Two sides to to every story, this one just happens to be the more accurate one!!

Wendy’s Franchise Cuts Employee Hours To Part-Time To Avoid Obamacare

Not long after the owner of the Olive Garden and Red Lobster chains admitted their anti-Obamacare campaigns hurt more than helped, the owner of a Wendy’s franchise in Omaha, Nebraska plans to cut 300 employees’ hours to part-time to avoid providing them health care coverage.
By moving workers to part-time status in order to avoid paying for their health benefits, the Wendy’s franchise would shift the costs of insurance coverage onto hundreds of employees:
The company has announced that all non-management positions will have their hours reduced to 28 a week. Gary Burdette, vice president of operations for the local franchise, says the cuts are coming because the new Affordable Health Care Act requires employers to offer health insurance to employees working 32-38 hours a week. Under the current law they are not considered full time and that as a small business owner, he can’t afford to stay in operation and pay for everyone’s health insurance.
But anecdotal evidence suggests this strategy may backfire on the Omaha Wendy’s operations. This fall, Denny’s quickly distanced itself from a franchisee’s similar ploy, while Darden Restaurants saw a sharp 37 percent drop in profit after threatening to cut workers to part-time.
Heaping blame on Obamacare may be a popular tactic among the fast food industry, but it is a misleading one. According to the Urban Institute, Obamacare has a negligible impact on business costs, leaving large companies virtually unaffected while actually reducing costs for small businesses.

Lets see how the owner of this SMALL Franchise in NEBRASKA(lol), deals with a huge loss in sales compared to spending more money on the healthcare of their workers.

Typical leftie! Right away they go to the “Bush did…” “Cheney did….”

I didnt agree with executive orders then I dont agree with executive orders now and I believe in the 3 tier system and dont need to check history books or google or the library to know how are system is supposed to work!!!

  • Jeff

Great points Sam!! Re: Hollywood, but I feel the violence and gore is at an all time high. It has creeped its way into nightly TV programs. I feel that there has to be a connection when a celebrity wears Nike shoes and the fans have to get themselves a pair, or that same celebrity is blowing away people with tech 9 assault weapons, the same desire can be manifested.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Jeff

@didnt agree with executive orders then I dont agree with executive orders now and I believe in the 3 tier system and dont need to check history books or google or the library to know how are system is supposed to work!!!

I can respect your view and agree to a certain extent. I agree more with Bush and Clinton’s exe.orders against these assault weapons after a massacre. If we took your approach today we both know the Congress would not even get a vote on the issue. So when the 3 Branches of Govt. are not effective due to gridlock, it is the job of the President to step in and make a decision. (Founding Fathers!!!)

  • Ratboy

    @ Jeff
So when the 3 Branches of Govt. are not effective due to gridlock, it is the job of the President to step in and make a decision

But here is the problem with King Obama, He starts talking about executive orders as the FIRST solution! He does not wait for the process to work. He sets the outcome and then figures out how HE is going to get the outcome rather than have the system work even if the outcome is not the one he wants!

Piers Morgan is so slimy & sanctimonious. He said : “Decent, Civilized Americans” Share My Anti-Gun Views…” Those of us who don’t are not decent & are Neanderthals ? This morality is coming from the guy that was the editor of the Daily Mirror & was fired in 2004 when his newspaper published photos that purported to show British troops abusing al Qaeda terrorists. These photos turned out to be fake. Once published, those faked photos put the lives of British troops in real danger as they became a recruiting tool for al Qaeda. Obviously, that’s dangerous.

The BBC’s Nicholas Witchell said it appeared Piers Morgan remained unrepentant right to the end

“According to one report Mr. Morgan refused the demand to apologize, was sacked and immediately escorted from the building,” he said.

Morgan is right now carrying CNN , using his anti gun rants to do so ,& the cynical amongst us might just see Piers as using this issue to gin up his ratings. . Let’s remember that his show is highly volatile and on one night this summer hit a low of just 39k in the all important 25-54 bracket.

I don’t even own a gun but I find this cretin offensive. His Country, Great Britain , which outlaws guns, is the most violent country in the EU . The analysis is based on the number of crimes per 100,000 residents.

In the UK, there are 2,034 offences per 100,000 people, way ahead of second-placed Austria with a rate of 1,677. The U.S. has a violence rate of 466 crimes per 100,000 residents, Canada 935, Australia 92 and South Africa. 1,609.

There is really a good graph here done by a reputable newspaper in Morgan’s native country .

Gun homicides and gun ownership listed by country
Where are the world’s guns – and which countries have the highest rates of firearms murders?

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2012/jul/22/gun-homicides-ownership-world-list#data

What I think is that we need national discussion. There are definetely improvements that can be made at gun shows, with enforcement , with movies & video games , & with parent’s supervision . If you have not read Lt. Col Dave Grossman’s “Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill,” i would recommend it. The book talks about children taught to pull the trigger in violent video games as the same way he has taught soldiers to kill by contioned reflex.

@Ratboy I agree executive order has been used by both sides, and the abuse of this exective order is getting out of hand. Why doesnt someone take this through the courts and finally get it resolved once and for all.

@jeff Just banning assault weapons isnt going to help, if you grandfather existing legal ones there are million legal and illegal assault weapons out there now. There is no way you be able to take away all the legal assault weapons off the streets. Even if could get them all off the street , I bet you have lots of these guns comming in from Mexico. What did the shooters in AZ, Col and CT also have in common ? The had some form of mental illness and people round them, schools and parnets knew something was wrong with them. But these people were afaird, school didnt want to get involved (Afaird of being sued)and parent’s had hard time getting, finding help. We need to work to get these people with metal illness issues help before they go and do something crazy.

I dont see how anyone can watch Fox News- its so Republican driven. They claim there news is fair and balanced, but its not! all of them hate anything not Republican, how is that fair & balanced? Its seems each news channel these days are either for the right or the left- what happened to just reporting the news??

Good morning Apple, hope your day is going to be a fine one. Soupy is Red Soup, sorry to all if my sarcasum (and spelling) fell flat-dang.

As for the diet soda and head aches, there is a trade off, less exercise but more mortrin. I vote for walking at lunch and fewer motrins.

Coffee, glad you’re not drinking a lot of that glop. Years ago in high school shop class, the instructor cleaned a dirty car battery by pouring a can of Coke on it. That was scary to watch how clean it got it.

    Politico

*The National Rifle Association has gained more than 100,000 new members in the last 18 days, the organization told POLITICO’s Playbook on Thursday.

The number of paid new members jumped from 4.1 million to 4.2 million in that time frame.

    On executive orders

I feel this nation and this entire executive branch including Congress has completely lost control of what a governing body and branches are supposed to be. All of them including the White House are abusing their power.

Someone asked President George Washington to set an example and take his arms, swords and all into his office, to establish his commander in chief roll, he not only refused he set an example by setting all his arms outside the door before he entered the office.

The people he said sets the rules, he is just there to carry their wishes out.

Washington no longer carries out the wishes of the people and they spit on the constitution they have sworn to uphold. There is no honor or leadership anywhere anymore.

Obamacare has a negligible impact on business costs, leaving large companies virtually unaffected

Really? Is that why my health care went up 30 dollars a pay check for coverage that is not as good as last years?
