FOX is airing one of ts infamous reality specials tonight. The melodramatically titled Stars in Danger: The High Dive is essentially diving with the stars. In grand FOX tradition, it greenlit the project after another ABC announced it had picked up Celebrity Diving, then got its show on the air first. Given that FOX scheduled it opposite new episodes of ABC's comedies and the People's Choice Awards on CBS, the network does not seem to have great expectations for the project. So how will the judges AKA viewers with Nielsen boxes, score it?

A 1.1 might be to generous but personally, I’ve got to see how local girl and shark survivor Bethany Hamilton does.
I’m feeling overly generous & guessing 0.9 for this show that’s going to do a big belly flop in the ratings.
ok, so what will the ABC multi-episode series do??
if no one is interested—based on all these comments—WHY will anyone watch a series of celebrity diving?
I thought Fox had outgrown this kind of stuff. In the 90s this kind of show seemed to make up half their schedule, but in recent years they had success with a normal lineup.
We had the same show hut with a different name in the UK and it premiered very strongly in a difficult time slot and won the hours it was on! I’m hit saying this is going to beat abc comedies but who knows
I hope this does awful but I never underestimate the public appetite for bad reality shows. I think this gets at least a 1.0 probably somewhere btwn 1.1 and 1.5.
1.2 and it won’t matter. It’s a pure spoiler for Celebrity Diving (which was a Dutch format – as were The Voice, Big Brother, and Deal or No Deal – that postdates Stefan Raab’s idea in neighbouring Germany, so FOX might have half a case here).
It’s one extra week they don’t have to use on reruns of sitcoms that don’t run brilliantly the first time, much less the second.
Joseph – the UK format that aired was the one that ABC picked up. Hence it being for a season rather than a one-shot (which I think the original Raab format was anyway – he does a bunch of those).
All I hope is that Guys with Kids beat this crappy show.
They never get real celebrities on these shows anyway, just desperate, washed-out ones looking for some publicity. Just like “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!” and that one other show where stars earn their stripes or whatever.
Worst show ever put on tv 5 minutes was enough and where were the stars????
This show was the first show that I can say actually had huge “Stars”. Terrell Owens is the most famous athlete on the planet…Antonio Sabato Jr. is one of the top actors going today…Baywatch is still the most popular show ever in the the world, and 2 stars from that…Multiple superstar reality show stars…One armed chick who got it bit off by a shark, she’s a star…What a great show. Possibly the best show I have ever seen besides Seinfeld.
waste of tv time it sucked
@David Howell: You are correct, the original TV Total Turmspringen is an annual one-shot.
Don’t underestimate the stupidity of the American people, the show will probably be a hit.
