Wednesday Primetime Results:

*       From 8-8:30 p.m. ET,  " Whitney "  (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) matched its second-highest 18-49 rating so far this season.

*       From 8:30-9 p.m. ET,  " Guys With Kids "  (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) retained 93 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Whitney" and retained 100 percent in adults 18-49 (1.0 rating each).

*       At 9 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.1/5 in adults 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) finished within a tenth of a point of last week's season-high 18-49 rating (and equaled last week's 2.1 in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings) to tie for the second-highest "SVU" rating of the season.

*       In total viewers, "SVU" captured a season high and its biggest overall audience since January 11, 2012.

*       Keep in mind that last season,  " Law & Order: SVU "  originals added an average of 47 percent to these next-day  " live plus same day "  ratings in 18-49 when Nielsen reported  " live plus seven day "  results.

*       At 10 p.m. ET,  " Chicago Fire "  (2.2/6 in adults 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall) matched its second-highest 18-49 rating ever and delivered its second biggest overall audience to date.  Over the past two weeks, "Chicago Fire" has delivered its two biggest audiences ever and its two best ratings to date when airing with regular programming as its lead-in.

*       "Chicago Fire" has now topped its premiere 1.9 rating three times, while no other new drama on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox has topped its premiere rating even once this season.

“* From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, ” Guys With Kids ” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) retained 93 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from “Whitney” and retained 100 percent in adults 18-49 (1.0 rating each).”

what? Was the 1.0 rating supposed to be in 18-34?

Chicago Fire seems like a pretty decent show for NBC. This could be a good solid cornerstone in the network.

Chicago Fire could be the show that NBC rides its back off of, to have a new show perform this well is good. SVU is a keeper too.

I thought the comedies had a decent night despite the drops. They did a very good job last week taking advantage of no competition but they might need a better slot like Tuesdays to shine in. Part of the problem is that ABC owns the night when it comes to comedies.

NBC better cancel WHITNEY in a very, VERY bad way. :-( :-( :-(

  • Kevin

Chicago Fire may get renewed for a second season and Guys With Kids could very well get “canceled” after the season or series is O-V-E-R.

  • Eddy Ryan

I think NBC can get a lot more out of Whitney/GWK if they moved them to Tuesdays.

Chicago Fire is doing so surprisingly well right now it is ridiculous!!

  • Carm

What happened to Chicago Fire??? No more episodes? It just got back.

  • NBC is awesome

They need to move Chicago Fire out of Wed. It does as well as it can there, but on another night it could be huge!

  • toadytoady

Good night for SVU, and for NBC.

There is no way Whitney will receive a 3rd season, NBCs plan to gather more viewers from her E show has failed. If NBC renews Whitney we know she is on her knees for someone at NBC.

  • Pat

Every episode of Chicago Fire has proven to be informative as well as entertaining. The credit for the success of
this new series should be equally shared by the excellent writers, directors and the outstanding actors.
I sincerely hope that NBC will strongly consider to renew Chicago Fire for another exciting season.
