The whole idea and premise of these “red carpet” fashion shows makes me want to vomit. First of all, seeing some of these “Hot” and “Not” lists by gossip rags on the internet, nearly all of the women are likely a Size Zero and most of them got handed the “Hot” distinction. This sends the WRONG MESSAGE to pre-teen and teen girls who starve themselves to death to get into a size zero. Heterosexual men and most women don’t give a good g-ddamn about who’s wearing what. And, the celebrities who can well afford their own clothes get the outfits for free just by mentioning the designer. The inane questions posed by the entertainment “reporters,” lol, are all softballs about what the actors’ next gig is coming up. After seeing a REAL woman who’s beautiful and talent, Christina Hendricks from “Mad Men,” I guess the GG went back to highlighting the Size Zero model again. I didn’t see the show but one young barely-known address who won in a category that included Meryl Streep, says a stupid thing like “I BEAT MERYL.” This young twit will be gone in a few years while Meryl continues to triumph.

You have a point Ralph on the thin-ness issue (except for Jennifer Lopez, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey who were well nourished and fine). But as someone who has watched these adult award shows for decades, the gals and the guys admit they starved themselves, compete for designer clothes and jewelry, and get some ‘work’ done on the face and the body for the sake of looking great on the Red Carpet. The Golden Globes are famed for outlandish, funny speeches and Jennifer Lawrence’s speech was all in fun. Meryl is secure in her place as one of the greats of all time. It was a great show, try it out next year.
