Sex and the City prequel/spinoff The Carrie Diaries is premiering tonight on The CW at 8PM. Mondays on the CW haven't exactly been very strong this season ...can The Carrie Diaries turn this all around? Or will tonight's premiere produce more of the same? It’ll probably premiere quite well for The CW, but still sort of middling. It’ll drop to 0.5-0.6 by the end of the season.

It doesn’t have THAT much competition tonight. Still if it cracks 1.0 will be OK. Tough to lead-off week for CW and it doesn’t have any type of lead-in or lead-out. Surprised they didn’t do a “preview” with TVD on a Thursday and then kick-off with the regular slate the following Monday.

Don’t forget there’s an encore presentation of The Carrie Diaries pilot at 9:00. That could have a slight, negative impact on the 8:00 showing. I’m sure more than a few people will watch Switched at Birth at 8:00 and Carrie at 9:00. Expect the CW to add both showings together when they put out their press release tomorrow.

YAWN, no more than 0.6 for either hour. This show is just a teen version of Sex & the City which I never watched when it was on HBO.

It seems mean to wish a show to flop, but in this case I think the best thing the CW can do is to drop this sorta of little girl programming and try to widen their net with less annoying projects. Everyone always says that the CW is just for 12 year old girls, and this proves it. Must do better.
I think it will premiere well, but will fall very very fast!
