Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Desperate housewives versus golden globes last year , scored a 1.8…. so Revenge so far this year does better than what desperate housewives were doing last year and it costs less… So revenge is going to be renewed and it is going to recover .Stop the hating… Scandal if wasnt airing after greys anatomy it would be cancelled by now. You know that and we know that , i am not saying scandal is not good but it took it 18 episodes for its story to become interesting…

  • Petar Ivanov

    @Revenge is not a show that can bounce back, its a serialized drama, once it looses viewers there is no coming back

    Well that is true…..but not exactly true. Scandal bounce back. Many cable seialized shows have better 2nd and 3rd seasons than before. You can even compare TWD ratinngs now and before. SOA and AHS on FX. But i agree once seialized drama falls big is not coming back.

  • The Hafk

    “good/great ratings”*

  • frodo

    @Ron, I hope Revenge has the week off when facing the Grammys because if not than ABC are really going suicidal. LOL!

  • Ted Craig

    I wonder what effect Downton Abbey had on these ratings.

  • Petar Ivanov

    @Ultima

    THANKS A LOT. As awlays you have best information. Thanks onceagain.

  • PhilipM

    60 Minutes is kind of a momentum killer. A 3.7 with that massive lead-in and a 3.0 in the second half-our is nothing special.

    And TGW, well, by the time it started, an hour after the football broadcast, there were basically no football viewers left. This week it scored 10.00 million viewers and a 1.9 rating out of 60 Minutes’ 14.84 million viewers and 3.7 rating. Last week, TGW had 9.96 million viewers and a 1.8 rating out of a POI rerun that only had 8.39 million viewers and a 1.3 rating.

    TGW just is what it is–steady under any circumstances, but far from good. One has to wonder just how much CBS likes this show and prays for a syndication deal.

  • CBSviewer

    The Simpsons did good considering the competition and its awful lead-in.
    The Good Wife was awesome and it’s now (for me) certain to be Renewed.

  • Bad Wolf

    @Rob R

    Yeah, strange isn’t it ? The Good Wife obviously interests way more people than Revenge, but since they’re too old, Revenge is still the “highest rated” show ! Ah… the logic of money…

  • THE OLD MAN

    RESERVE COMMENT FOR CBS/NBC UNTIL THE FINALS

    FOX way off their game (without FB OR) as only Family Guy seems to be dominant animation anymore

    OUAT not off too bad w/2.8 but lead in didn’t seem to help Shonda’s soap & its tiny bubbles did nothing for the HE/B combo disaster

  • forg

    ABC hast turned into the laughing stock of network TV, they can barely get anything over a 3.0 these days.

    So does Fox and NBC (outside The Voice)

  • Petar Ivanov

    cbs sundays next season
    8 survivor
    9 TAR
    10 h5o

    tgw or tm on friday.

  • TheFollowing

    Great numbers for Animation Domination except TCS. It should be cancelled.

    Wow. Even the GG can’t beat TBBT ratings.

  • HalCapone

    The Revenge vs Scandal trash talk is just bizarre. As a fan of both shows, pitting 2 different shows on different nights and times against one another is neither logical nor amusing. There is already enough crap in the comments to have read this silly nonsense over and over again.

  • frodo

    @Petar Ivanov

    Yeah I agree, by the time season 3 starts many viewers who were not watching can catch up so that the ratings rise up. The thing is last season Revenge had a huge buzz, this season lots of viewers have changed the channel. Its no longer getting the same reaction on twitter, critics have been criticizing this season from the get go. All this is worrying. Its still doing very good internationally and on Itunes but in the end of the day that does not really matter to ABC. And the ABC chairman has recently criticized Revenge so all this is quite troubling.

  • Ryann

    I hate seeing revenge this low =( Why compare it to Scandal? I never understood this?

  • Petar Ivanov

    @ABC hast turned into the laughing stock of network TV, they can barely get anything over a 3.0 these days.

    MF. But yea abc is dead this year, THeir best new show is nashville with 2.0. Revenge collapse. Once way down. Greys fall a lot and Scandal only good demo. And castle stable 2.0 that is. DWTS collapse too. Comedies are dead like all new shows. abc on the road…..old nbc road. Its a loooooooooong road abc. Just ask NBC and their long 10 years,

  • Rebecca

    @OLD MAN
    No comment about Adele winning last night for Best Original Song? That was awesome.
    ——–
    Enjoyed the Golden Globes and the funniest two women on TV hosting the show (but wish they had done more). I do wish there were longer nominees lists for the TV categories (for GG and the Emmys) since Cable and Network shows compete for those nods – if they’d allow more nominees the network shows could get a chance of winning sometimes. Now I can go watch BB, HE, OUAT and A23 online since I missed them last night.

  • THE OLD MAN

    @ Ryann

    No sense trying to understand illogical logic, so don’t waste your time (ie) IGNORE IT & just consider it an ANNOYANCE!

  • Dan S

    Even when Desperate Housewives was as its lowest point it never bored me as much as Revenge has done lately. This was a fun show to watch that has become an effort to watch. If it doesn’t pickup soon I’m dropping it for good. This doesn’t bode well for Red Widow waiting in the wings.
