Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Oop @ The Carrie Diaries. Just give up CW.

  • ateofi

Very nice ratings for H50 after 1 month break. It’s a pitty “Castle” didn’t get at least 2.0 in demo. “Carrie diaries” is DoA.

  • Annihilator

Deception and the Carrie Diaries are both dead on arrival. Both shows are toast and won’t be around for very long.

  • CastleFan (the original)

If Castle had a HH rating of 6.3 and H50 had a HH rating of 6.1 how did H50 en up with more viewers?

  • Mark3

If u combine the two for the carrie diaries its actually pretty good. They shouldnt have show the pilot twice. If tgey only showed it once then it got a 2.53 and a 1.0

  • Mia

CBS comedies did great. Hawaii dropped big after M&M , even with no Revolution, it deserves to be dumped to the Friday Death slot or Sundays.
I don’t think NBC was expecting much from Deception, is nothing more than a filler until Revolution comes back.

  • TheFollowing

Bones! It will go higher next week because of my name. :D

  • adf

wth. whats wrong with you people. Carrie Diaries was amazing.

  • silvit

    @Grey

It was a very hyped episode yet it didn’t increase its ratings. Plus it’s against two weak shows, one of which is already DOA.

  • r0ckmypants

The past two episodes of Castle have been terrible, so I’m not surprised it hasn’t recovered to 2.0+

The Carrie Diaries was just awful, and the numbers reflect that.

  • hammard

Wow, really though Carrie Diaries would do better at the start and maybe fall down later. I think it’s going to keep going lower now as it seems to be panned in reviews around and doesn’t quite know what audience to hit.

  • Tom

The Carrie Diaries is a departure from most CW shows which require you to suspend your disbelief from the first minute. I thought the writers handled some difficult subjects like death and recovering from loss reasonably well. The 0.6 rating is probably attributable to the limited audience appeal of a show like this. Its obviously directed at the CW’s 18-34 female demographic. In sum, I believe the storyline was good enough to make most viewers want to tune in again next week to see what happens.

  • a p garcia

I guess TCD did OK by CW standards!

  • DenverDean

@CastleFan – That’s because more people watched in CBS HH than in Castle. Castle tends to draw more older women watching by themselves. H50 more people in a HH watch together. Households mean nothing.

  • silvit

    @TheFollowing

Why it should go higher if it airs before? I don’t expect any uptick in the coming weeks. Then in spring it will be even worse.

  • Hubert R. Wentland

CBS line-up is not what it used to be, but no network has a comedy block that could pull these numbers. good for CBS.

I don´t know why was everyone so optimistic about Carrie Diaries. I never thought it was able to do better. i was surprised last nights poll had 0.6 as the lowest option.

  • Mike

    sucks for deception …

  • Ryann

Look at the positive to Carrie Diaries altogether it got a 1.0 with 2.53mil. Although hopefully this will give Cult a good chance since its most likely doomed with the tuesday death slot
Bones is always so consistent and Deception, well its normal for a show to loose a few demo ratings in the second week.

  • Robert

Honest question and can someone answer it without being biased, do viewer numbers count for anything for instance Castle add two million viewers but demo went down from lead in, doesn’t that mean anything? (by the way I am not only reffering to castle but other shows that have the same problem)

  • AJ

    Yay for 2 Broke Girls!!!!
