Syfy has "decided not to renew" Alphas. Given its ratings during season two, most won't be surprised, even if they are disappointed. Here's the statement from Syfy:

Syfy has decided not to renew Alphas for a third season. We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television.  We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.

No surpise ppl been waiting on a renewal/cancel statement from Syfy for like 10 months now lol

  • DW

was the good wife it’s lead in?. :)

  • Martie

That’s too bad. The ending is to be taken literally now I suppose. Everyone died, that’s a wrap.

  • Ricky

@Martie: Except Gary, and he doesn’t understand why nobody gets up. Oh well. Saves them the trouble of having to come up with a convoluted reason for Rosen surviving Parrish’s attack – because if Season 3 had got the green light, that would almost certainly have happened. Like, out him as an Alpha?

Too bad, though. This was the first Syfy show I ever really got into, and it’s a shame we’ll never get to continue the journey.

Its syfy did anyone actually expect the series.to go past 2-3 seasons. Continuum is next. And with being humans and lost girls.ratings they will be next.

  • Rocky89

See, this is what happens when Syfy acts stupid, and doesn’t care about the fans, the fans don’ care in return.

  • _JC

Well…there goes the last reason I had to watch SyFy. Never thought I’d see the day. Oh well.

  • justin

SyFy will not rest until all of it’s Sci-Fi shows are canceled and the network re-branded the WWE Network. You herd it here first folks, that will happen.

  • John A

It was rubbish with bad ratings so no loss.

  • panda22

Defianc will be cancelled also….and SyFy will turn into TLC or Discovery and sundry other cable nets that have gone sooooo far off the channels premise it’s sickening.

All these cable channels are doing reality crap like honey boo boo or some such that have NOTHING to do with The Learning Channel, or how Discoverys prgramming used to educate….now all they do is pump out scandal ridden shows that degrade humanity, like Teen Mom or the Kardasians.

and syfy will follow suit, no more scifi and no more scripted shows….just reality rubbish and wresting

  • merrranga

yeah rosen had to be an alpha.

  • fitman

Not alot of support out here for Alphas. ????? Kinda bafflkes me as I really liked this show and wierdly the season 2 ending is sufficient a a series end. What I cannot understand though is the support and renewal of Lost Girl! That is the biggest piece of garbage ever to hit the airwaves…Oh well…wont be watching that channel anymore/alphas gone…movies were horrible last year and continuim was a major snoozefest

  • Kegsta

Lost Girl and Continuum are both made for Showcase in Canada, so I don’t think syfy has much of a say in their renewal.

All Syfy has left now is warehouse 13 and reality shows.

Syfy will face retribution for this decision. As will America, for failing to notice this excellent show.

  • Continued

Everyone complains about no scifi on syfy but when they put on a great show like Continuum nobody watches.

  • thesnowleopard

Wait, what? I thought Alphas was their big powerhouse series. Now they’ve got Being Human and Warehouse 13, the Canadian stuff, and reality shows (most of which are little better than test patterns for entertainment value). That’s not much of an inspiring slate.

Watching Syfy’s slow decline over the years has been rather depressing. Not that it ever really had a golden age, but still….

  • Greg

Continuum and Lost Girl are Canadian imports. Alphas was an original Syfy show, as are Haven and Warehouse 13.

  • Meredith44

Disappointed but not surprised pretty much sums up my reaction. I liked the first season better than the second, but I still would have liked a third. Oh well. At least I still have Haven?

  • John

Nooo, wrong! They have Being Human, Warehouse 13 and HAVEN!
I liked Alphas too, but the ratings for this season were very low. :S
In my opinion, Haven is the best show on SyFy and deserves attention! ;)

  • One @ thesnowleapord

Alphas suffered from a near-flatlining ratings in season 2. Cancellation was all but inevitable.
