Wow, very decent night for CNN…
So come on usa888, tell us how MSNBC is driving FOX out of business!!!!
Looks like things are shaking themselves back to pre-election levels. It’s still close between Fox and MSNBC but then again, no cigar for MSNBC.
Oh my God….I wonder when the bottom will be defined for MSNBC….it just goes down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and down, and….
CNBC again has a dismal day!
Any chance they realize it’s time to “rise above” politics and get back to markets and investment coverage in 2013?
I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. Based on back and forth here about Stewert and those guys and their ratings against OReily and all that stuff, I have the following observation to share.
If they reall should be weighed the same as OReilly then the management at MSNBC is REALLY REALLY horrible!! Look at the ratings of Mathews and Shcultz and Maddow and Larry O compared to Stewert and Colbert and they are more than getting Creamed and all should be cancelled!!!!!!!!!!
Did something happen yesterday??.. CNN up there with MSNBC???? (confused) And look, the Jodi Arais murder trial is doing wonders for Nancy Grace and Jane Velez…
Rachel Maddow had NBC Foreign Affairs reporter Richard Engel on as a guest, and whenever he appears, the colloquy between them is at the highest level of intelligence and enlightenment one could expect to find on commercial TV, broadcast or cable, and even comparable to PBS at times! There was an especially deep discussion about the possible use of poison gas by Syria, including descriptions of the various types and their relative lethality. (My favorite was a type of gas call B-Z; I live near Boston and we have a legendary radio station WBZ, and a pioneering broadcast TV station, WBZ-TV). The interview ended with exploring the possibility that the US is partnering with France during their attack on rebels in Mali. TV doesn’t get much better. (All of the foregoing would be completely over-the-heads of Fox viewers).
And Obamacare again will help us all!
Southwestern Pa. hospital to stop baby deliveries
WINDBER, Pa. (AP) — A southwestern Pennsylvania hospital will stop delivering babies after March 31 because its obstetricians are either leaving or refocusing their practices, and because hospital officials believe they can’t afford it based on projected reimbursements under looming federal health care reforms.
The Windber Medical Center, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, is losing two obstetricians and two others are shifting their focus more to gynecology.
Hospital officials say the population of women of child-bearing age is dropping and that the number of births the hospital would be called upon to perform isn’t enough for it to provide the service in the face of lower reimbursements under the federal Affordable Care Act.
The hospital delivered about 200 babies each year since restarting its obstetrics program in 2005.
Officials aren’t sure how many jobs will be lost.

Gov. Perry: Using Massacre of Children to Advance Agenda ‘Disgusts Me’…
Statement by Gov. Perry on President Obama’s Executive Actions
Gov. Rick Perry released the following statement regarding President Obama’s executive actions:
“The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.
“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.
“There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.
“In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.”
Obviously the right media and Fox News are scared of Al Jazeera coming to American TV. It’s unclear whether Al Jazeera will choose to be on the right, the left or neutral but hopefully they’ll bring back investigative journalism back to cable TV.
Unfortunately, investigative journalism has been abandoned by corporate channels and replaced with pundits. Luckily, we still have government funded channels that can afford to run investigative journalism once in a while ( The righties want to cut government funded channels BTW ). Al Jazeera will have unlimited funding because of its connection to the government of Qatar, hopefully that will be an advantage for them to restore investigative journalism here.
Wow – Laurence, please continue to grace us with your insights. I’m glad yo don’t take yourself so serioulsy.
Also it amazes me how the righties are bunch of ignorants on steroids. Gun control doesn’t mean stripping people from their rights to bear arm rather than limit their access to militarized style weapons to prevent the dreadful scenarios when members of the society go nuts and decide to use militarized weapons against civilians.
The righties usually claim that their right to bear arm is to defend them against domestic tyranny. My question is, what will your rifle do against a tyranny with F-16′s and nuclear weapons ?
If you want to talk about tyranny, let’s talk about the tyranny that imprisoned Bradley Manning for giving Americans the access for information that should have been public. Let’s talk about the tyranny that made the life of Aaron Swartz so terrible that he had to hang himself just because he accessed information that should have been public. Let’s talk about the tyranny that let HSBC go off the hook although they were involved in money laundering to Al Qaeda and Mexican drug cartels while imprisoning kids for the position of Marijuana.

Totally agree. There are lots of personalities that I find untenable but she tops the list.
As predicted, MSNBC does a crash and burn in the ratings. In the demo. In the ghetto.
Fox’s ratings continue to be driven by a disproportionate number of very old viewers, vis a vis MSNBC and CNN. Nothing wrong with that but that’s a fact. The Piers Morgan show on gun control did very well and the t-bag ideas were soundly rejected. CNN is doing better now with new programming direction.
Parenthetically, Rick Perry is one of the most backward thinking, uneducated men on the planet, so his warped views are expected…..It’s embarrassing for Texas……….
Weeks of triumphant boasting about a network 49% owned by GE — which pays no taxes — by the lefties suddenly stops and the crickets chirp. June 2008 all over again when Ogremann topped O’Reilly for a few days. But Fox News is a crock now, a shell of what it once was. Sean Hannity has become insufferable and Greta needs to go back to lawyer panels on whatever this week’s Trial Of The Century is. Krauthammer and Gutfeld are the only persons on Fox that are consistently interesting. People are moving away from politics and toward escapism as the country cruumbles under the weight of the Cult of Personality that is parked at 1600 Pennsylbvvania Avenue
The NRA needs to fire its president and exec VP and get with reality–the majority view of their members and the American people…This can’t happen too soon.
CNN gives an hour a night to a man fired by a British tabloid for being caught faking a war crimes by the British Army. His pathetic attempts at upping ratings with “outrageous comments” has confused at least one poster into believing Piers Morgan gives a crap about anything except Piers Morgan. At least Larry King had the decency to be a cheerleader for whatever celeb he was interviewing that night
