this got Renewed? I thought it was cancelled

  • DanaK

I wonder if this is in response to the Feb 12 preemption of prime time shows by the State of the Union Address?

  • John A

So will the flop comedies be its lead in? If so Yikes.

  • Ultima

    @DanaK
I wonder if this is in response to the Feb 12 preemption of prime time shows by the State of the Union Address?

Certainly. Now they’ll just air the full season without repeats.

NBC doesn’t have that option with Smash and just has to eat a week off immediately after the premiere.

  • DenverDean

That explains it. Although I still think ABC would’ve been better off running BoP repeats Sunday at 10 instead of ST. It’s been a long time since anybody has seen BoP.

  • rob60990

This is to BOP benefit. 2 less episodes it has to air with such a horrid lead-in. Also BOP will air its 13 episodes straight through from Feb 19-May 14. It also gives ABC the opportunity to air extra episodes of those comedies at 10 for 2 weeks on Jan 29 & Feb 5.

  • rob60990

Nevermind, I see ABC is airing a rerun of the season finale on the 29th. Theres still the 5th though.

I’ve been waiting for almost 9 months for the season premiere whats another two weeks. And hopefully this will be beneficial for the series, 13 straight weeks no re-runs or weeks off. So the ratings should, hopefully be consistent throughout the season.

  • Match

This show shouldn’t have been even renewed, i still feel sorry for GCB. It was a great show but sadly because of this thing it was canceled. Good news is that by May this is gone cancellation is certain.

  • Dan S

Mark Valley late of Harry’s Law & Human Target didn’t waste anytime getting onto another series. Now his wife Anna Torv from Fringe needs a new TV gig.

  • glover

Love the story of the episode. Looks like the last 3 episodes of the past season. If the show continues in that same level, I will love it. I hope BoP gets decent ratings despite its awful lead in.

  • Dan

@Ultima – Yeah but Smash returns with a 2 hour episode, Body of Proof was 2 parts so it makes sense that the date is moved. Smash can air its 2 hour premiere and wait a week. Not too bad though. It works out better any way because now instead of BOP’s season ending on April 30, it can end on May 14 hopefully without preemptions.

No idea what will air Feb 5 at 10 but ABC may as well air the pulled Happy Endings and Apartment 23 eps in that slot, so at least Apartment 23 can air all 19 episodes by March 19.

  • Dan

@Kyle – Nope, much to the surprise of everyone on this site, ABC gave Body of Proof a midseason 13 episode renewal likely because they figured Private Practice would only get 13 episodes and because of BOP’s uptick toward the end of the season. BOP wasn’t doing as horrible as many people thought, it was just the worst performer in a season where ABC got a few well rated series like Revenge and Once Upon a Time.

Fun Fact: in the past 5 seasons the only 3 ABC dramas to make it to a third season is Private Practice, Castle, and Body of Proof. This will likely change when Revenge, Once Upon a Time and Scandal all get third seasons.

Now the question is, will the show do well enough to warrant a fourth season and if so, it will probably air this fall, if renewed.

  • Ram510

ABC hasn’t really allowed much time to promote.

Boy are ABC’s Tuesdays a mess

  • Nick

    I can’t wait!

It’s still one less week with the terrible A23 lead-in. And there’s extra time for promotion. I guess I’ll have to wait.

I predict a 1.6 for the premiere, 1.5 for ep 2, and then 1.3/1.4s until DWTS comes back.

  • I like this show

This show is still on tv and last resort is somehow canceled…amazing

  • Lisa

I don’t like the cast changes at all, but I’ll give the show a try again. Not expecting much in the way of ratings, though, and I expect this show to be on the chopping block by May.

  • David Howell

I think BOP was saved only because it was a procedural and hence usable as spackle much more easily than anything else on the ABC slate (and also easier to sell in syndication – not that it’ll make much in syndication with low 1s).

I can’t think why else it could be renewed with the numbers it was getting last season.

  • Liam

If Body of Proof can average what Castle is averaging this year (1.9-2.1 region) the show will possibly be back for a season 4. I really hope the show does well, I really hope viewers come back to the show, hopefully the re-vamp attracts new viewers and old viewers are not alienated by the new look.

The 19th cant come quick enough. This day next month. Can’t wait.

  • tanya

i cant wait. i love this show.
