@ TVMAN, not true. The premier had a 9.7 which was the best rating of that season.
A 0.9 means 57% of Supernatural were 18-49 while only 45% of Arrow viewers were 18-49.
Idol went from a 16.4 for their premiere in 2010 to a 14.2 one year later, to a 7.4 last season and now a 6.0. I love the show because they were the one that started it all, but FOX should be worried.
Yikes for Suburgatory
I love how all the NBC shows were repeats because they knew they couldn’t stand a chance to American Idol
Just read Criminal Minds had its largest audience of the season last night. Nice to see it adjusted up too. Considering it was up against the season premier of Idol and had no lead in. it did really well!! Idol was horrible last night. This show is unwatchable. Modern Family was pretty good.
Jacob your point is moot when CBS has repeats on tonight as well.
I’m really enjoying The Neighbors, after catching up on the first 9 episodes online before starting to watch weekly. Now I DVR three of the ABC comedies on Wednesdays (all but Suburgatory, just can’t get into that one), watch The Middle and MF with the hubby – and then he goes off to do other things while I back up the disc and watch Neighbors. Good fun. And good for The Middle, being second behind American Idol last night.
Criminal Minds had one of the episodes last night. Hope they keep improving their writing and their numbers go up.

Incorrect statistics. American Idol‘s series high is a 15.8, and that was notched in the beginning of season six. In 2010, I think the premiere number was in the 11′s, then in 2011, the premiere dropped to a 9.8, then a 7.4 in 2012, and now a 6.0.
Neighbors only adjusted down to 1.8 from 1.9 and it remains the fourth highest rated sitcom on ABC.
Idol down.. but compare to the xfactor’s 2.4 weekly ratings.. this is amazing..
Melissa you’re correct. I didn’t use the 18-49 share foolishly enough. For some reason I thought those high ratings were right considering it’s Idol afterall.
So The Voice really have 1 over Idol with their 16.3 rating after the SuperBowl?
It’s interesting that Arrow and SPN’s ratings didn’t change at all versus Idol. It just goes to show how little overlap there is between those audiences.
@Mayans: I think you are looking at the wrong numbers for 2010 and 2011. Their 16.4 premiere in 2010 is for OVERALL VIEWERSHIP, not the 18-49 demo, which was 11.8. In 2011, that number dropped to 9.7, then down to 7.4 last year and now 6.0. But you are right, that FOX should be worried, after losing just about half their 18-49 debut audience in only 3 years (2010/11.8—>2013/6.0).
I swear shut up with all the “idol doing bad” thing. It’s clearly doing better than any singing competition and tv show. It’s been on air for 12 seasons. It still brings big numbers and there is no similarities with other competitions. Yeah it might not be doing as good as it used too, but with numbers like that what network wouldn’t want American idol on their channel!?
American idol > The voice
XFactor > The Voice
Sorry but the people agree.. The voice sucks!
And the voice would usually get a 3-4 rating not no 4.9 rating…
Yikes @ The Middle, Suburgatory & Modern Family. Hope they go back up next week!
Arrow seems to be immune to Idol. It may just become the CW’s top series, since Idol shares a lot of audience with TVD.
@Ashley
I sincerely hope that’s a typo.
Nice to see Arrow and Supernatural holding steady.
Arrow seems to be doing the reveals of Oliver’s time on the island very slowly and in very short flashbacks, which is a bit disorienting. Although I prefer the show spend its time in the present, I would like to see more coherent flashbacks. Hopefully we’ll see what happened to Deathstroke before end of season. The arrow through the hood we’ve seen implies he was taken out, but I’d like to hope the character returns in the present.
And I’m still hoping to see a real Black Canary show up at some point out of Dinah Laurel Lance. The Huntress was OK, but didn’t seem to pan out.
John Barrowman’s Merlyn was great, hope we see more of him in full costume.
Supernatural was pretty good, the story arc with Tapping and Misha is heating up. We can already see the writing on the wall for Bennie, too. The only odd arc out is Sam and Amelia, still can’t see where that’s going – if anywhere after this week. Presumably there has to be some other resolution of that, otherwise it just petered out to no purpose.
@RSH
I agree…that whole Sam and Amelia thing seems pointless and useless. Enjoyed the rest of the episode but can do without the whole love triangle thing.
