American idol will definitely go down tonight – a lot of people do not have the fox station or their power is out due to winter storm – I have every channel but fox – it is giving me the direct tv music and apology screen
OMG! Gunsmoke rule in full effect.
Ratings for The Simpsons, Sept., 1990 – 18.5
Rating for most recent episode of The Simpsons, last Sunday – 2.4
Man, how in the heck is this show still on the air?
I know Idol has been drifting further down in the ratings, but it’s still a juggernaut, and nearly every show on TV except Sunday Night Football and maybe The Big Bang Theory would be clamoring for Idol’s “crappy” ratings last night.
Idol- it’s no longer about the singers, it’s all about the judges.
Bumfuzzled….. OUT!
Yey for Criminal Minds and Arrow! =)
I’m getting interested now to watch Chicago Fire…
@Bumfuzzled: I’ve been saying that for quite some time. The show is all about the celebrities; namely, the judges and the performers and other stars they invite to the show; contenders be damned. As quickly as they try every desperate measure to stay relevant, amidst a demographic that is sliding toward zero (the median viewing age last year was 48), it gets as stale as last year’s Diet Coke!
Given Wednesday’s viewership of 17.9 million, if Thursday’s viewership falls significantly, and the performances once again get lost in all the celebrity hoopla, you can quite probably kiss 20 million goodbye.
Can someone please explain why Neighbours – which is an absolutly terrible show from every aspect of concept right through to execution – is going to get renewed while the hilarious Dont Trust The B and Happy Endings are going to get cancelled? Both those shows have better casts, better jokes and better concepts. The Neighbours is awful. I just dont get it American, I just dont get it….

The Neighbors is going to be renewed for the same reason that Don’t Trust the B and Happy Endings were renewed – airing on the same night as Modern Family.
If and when it moves to a different night, it will be canceled as well.
The Neighbours wont be renewed with these numbers.
” Sorry but the people agree.. The voice sucks! ”
Yes that’s why it was nominated for an Emmy last time out and not Idol nor XFactor.
I can’t take XFactor serious for having Emblem3 as serious contenders, almost making it to the finals, with the likes of you swearing that they are “such great singers”.
Yes and XFactor would usually get a 2-3 rating, so what’s your point?
X Factor is a terrible show. Watered down version of Idol for pre-teens.
The Middle is a little flat, but I guess the teenage son in underwear makes up for it and attracts quite a lot of viewers lol The Neighbors is simply horrible. I can’t believe it’s still up. Same for Guys with Kids. Both series belong to the 90′s, and would even be pretty bad for those standards back then…
They should have had a first run Big Bang ready for yesterday,
eridapo, I remember you posting numbers from a site that had numbers for the 18-34 demo and for other demos as well. Which site was that?
I find it amusing seeing people say Suburgatory will fall when it moves back to 8:30 when it’s getting the similar numbers now to what it did last year. That probably means the audience is exclusive to the show and holding well, with little continuation with Modern Family (which makes sense).
@ Mayans
Complete and utter BS…The Voice HAS NOT gone up in ratings every Season. What a crock of crap you are saying. The Voice in 2011-2012 receive a 16.5 initial night because of Superbowl and then 5.5-6.5 the rest of the Season. This season saw mostly 4′s. In what World do you live in here a 4 beats a 5-6? On the original rating announcement, people were saying that The Voice was beating American Idol which was the dumbest think I ever read on this site. You seem to be believing the same fantasy.
Wasn’t that ‘Voice’ Super Bowl follow-up show only FIVE MINUTES LONG? If that was the case, don’t think anyone can take that telecast and its rating seriously, and equate it with any half-hour, 1-hour or 2-hour full-length broadcast!
My bad. I think the ‘Voice’ Super Bowl post-game broadcast was 15 minutes. I didn’t watch; so, I don’t know exactly. But again, I don’t think anyone can take that broadcast and its rating seriously.
The Voice lead-out was a full hour (citation)

The episode of The Voice that aired after the Super Bowl last year was an hour long.
