With the fates of Leverage, Drop Dead Diva and Alphas all  finally decided (all three were cancelled) at least for a while we are out of "how come they haven't decided yet!?" territory.  So for a while I expect it will be comments and e-mails like "You've still got Suits as being in its second season, but it just came back!" and "%$*^ why is 'Sanctuary still on your list!" and "How dare BBC AMERICA claim Doctor Who as its own/how dare Syfy claim Continuum as its own!"

It's true shows like Bunheads and Suits are "back" after being off for a while, but they are back for continuations/conclusions of the same season (in the case of Bunheads, its first and in the case of Suits, its second).

Yep, Sanctuary is still on the list! I don't know how long it will be before a I delete it. I don't see the harm in more info, and since I'm the one maintaining the list... But spread the complaining love around please. Nobody ever complains "%$*^ why is Hung still on your list!" and it's been gone as long as Sanctuary.

BBC America and Syfy can claim those shows because they licensed the U.S. rights. This list focuses on networks in the United States because that's what makes the most sense for us, but we still love our UK and Canadian readers.

Changes This Week:

There were several season or series premieres this week and those shows have either been slightly updated or added to the list.

Notes:

  • Kids shows and Adult Swim shows are not on the list below
  • I've seen some squawking about shows on the list below that are owned/created by networks/studios outside of the United States. For purposes of this list, which focuses on U.S. cable networks, I'm only focused on where the shows air here in U.S.
  • Shows from overseas like Downton Abbey & Sherlock that air on PBS in the U.S. are not in the list below (PBS is not a cable network), though ITV has renewed Downton Abbey for a 4th season in the UK which will ultimately air in the states.
  • Despite some current inconsistencies in the table below, I do not intend to track episode orders or return dates specifically in this table at this time. The primary goal of the table is: what's been renewed, what's been canceled, and what shows fates haven't been decided yet.
  • Yes, I know there will be a Doctor Who still has the remainder of season 7 to air and that there will be an anniversary episode, but as far as an 8th season goes, there's still no official announcement.

Last Updated January 22, 2013

Most of the shows on the list have statuses - if there isn't a status that just means there has been no announcement at the time of the most recent update (see date at top of post and/or above the table below).

    Nope. that wasn’t it! :-)

Maybe it needs more than one use of the word?

    Sex, sex, sex, sex! :-)

    Nope, wasn’t that!

I give up! I can’t see one single word or any combination of words in that post that got it grabbed by the spam filter.

Put it down to the usual shoddy Web software that everyone uses, I guess. None of this crap is reliable or secure, and half the time it isn’t usable as well. This is endemic to the entire software industry – which is why the computer security industry is a burgeoning monster that pays the best.

Drop Dead Diva should have been renewed for a final season. It almost did 3 mil for the finale and tied Army Wives in demo (the so called staple show of lifetime network).

I do understand that drop dead diva fluxuated in ratings, hitting .6-1.0 but always hitting anywhere from 2-3 million viewers I think once or twice it was high 1 million. I mean Client List was renewed for a 15 episode season and its ratings were anywhere from .8-1.1 and hit low to high 2 million viewers.

I just think Drop Dead Diva deserved a final season. Lifetime might be picking up “a lot” of so called pilots but the network doesn’t have 365/24/7 new episodes.. There is a timeslot of DDD to finish its final season off.

I love Drop Dead Diva, hope the creator and Sony TV find it a new home

Maybe you have been added to a list of trusted posters and all your tests now pass… I would run the same tests myself to see what happens, but the prospect of being filtered is very traumatic.

coolioni How does SyFy paying to rebroadcast Continuum translate into a better show? It may (or not) translate into bigger profits for Shaw Media, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Shaw will do anything more than pocket the extra money. The whole point here is that the show has to be cheap enough for SyFy to want to acquire its rebroadcast rights.

  • The End

Continuum can’t be canceled by the Syfy channel, probably worth noting that.

  • Brian

Lifetime killed Drop Dead Diva when they had to let that nasty Filthy Kardashian in the show for way too many episodes..that lost them LOTS of viewers..too bad that they don’t have the respect for it’s viewers to give it a proper finale. Lifetime ..YOU SUCK!

RE: Hunted, the BBC have said they’re not up for a second season but Cinemax are going ahead with it.

  • Jeffeck

Like the status chart!!! Keep it up

I am very disappointed that USA did not renew Fairly Legal. It was a great breathe of fresh air. Although it had attorneys, it wasn’t all about the law. It will be greatly missed by many, I am sure.

Continuum can’t be canceled by the Syfy channel, probably worth noting that.

It can be pulled from the SyFy Channels airwaves, thereby ‘cancelled’ from the SyFy network and rendered irrelevant as it airs on Canadian TV where about 7 people watch it I’m sure. I’ve watched the first 15 minutes of the poorly acted show, the cast members don’t express emotions

Man people on this web site are more anally retentive about semantics than anything I’ve ever seen

I’m disappointed that Leverage got cancelled!
