Tonight The Following, one of this season's most anticipated new shows, premieres on FOX. It has a lot going for it: an A-list cast (Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy) and showrunner (Kevin Williamson). On the other hand, the ratings for all of FOX's freshman series this season have been fairly dismal. The premise -- a serial killer with a cult of followers who will kill at his request -- may be too dark for broadcast television. So how will it do? On Monday, January 17, 2012, the two hour premiere of Alcatraz garnered a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, while The Following's immediate timeslot predecessor, The Mob Doctor premiered to a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating on September 17, 2012. Make your prediction below then explain your reasoning, and how many degrees of separation you are from Kevin Bacon, in the comment section.

3.0 on the dot. I don’t expect it to fall that much during the season.
2.9
Around 2.0
3.5 ratings.
I think this show will be really good, great cast ans showrunner.
3.0-3.1. If the quality is there, it should have a post premiere drop smaller than normal.
It doesn’t matter what it does tonight, I’m convinced it will quickly collapse like Alcatraz and Touch. You could even argue that Kiefer Sutherland was/is a bigger “TV” Star than Kevin Bacon and look what happened to Touch.
I think people are overestimating the Bacon factor. When was the last time he had a hit movie that he was the main draw of? It’s got to be at least a decade.
I barely watch FOX and I saw 83726217816349473793 promos for this show.
3.3, similar to Alcatraz.
Fox really need this to be big. Ill go with a 3.0 it has a crap lead in but surely it will get a good sample.
i dont expect it making out season one
There’s not really much of a competition tonight other than 2 Broke Girls, and with all the hype that has been building ever since the show got picked up, I’ll go with a 3.4.
Gonna say 3.1-3.2 range, more of a question of how it does in the weeks to come
Looks like a interesting show cant wait to see it. Hoping for a 3.0
I think it’s either going to be a massive hit or an epic flop. Whatever else you can say about Fox and the show, they’ve been promoting it like crazy.
I also agree that the weeks to come will be the real test, because there could be some huge initial tune in but a quick fall from grace.
Hope it rates well, Something around 3.2. Bones needs something decent to be paired with it to give Fox a fighting chance on Mondays.
This show will get really good ratings this week. People will tune in just to see what all the hype is about. Starting next week, though, the ratings will start to drop like a rock.
I think it will get about a 2.7 and 9 million viewers. It’ll skew quite old.
I’m rooting for it to do well, Fox needs a hit and I hope it leads the way for more gritty dramas on broadcast.
this is gonna be exactly like Alcatraz, starts high and crashes far.
3.3 and 11 million. should hover around 2.9- 3.1 throughout the season.
I think it will go lower, I hope it premieres strong but even in the promos they ask people to setup their DVR’S, that is not a good start, but I guess that is the only option they have left after a dismal fall they had.
