Definitions:
DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.
Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.
Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate
Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

@Matt
Somehow, Nielsen Ratings are going to have to worry more about DVR+7 ratings…these numbers are impressive!
These numbers are FROM NIELSEN…
WHERE’S GREY’S??? D:
You guys forgot Parenthood on 1/1. Parenthood always is in there. I’m positive you guys forgot.
The 7 day total is still important. Lets networks know how big the actual audience can be. The key is for the nets to use that info effectively in scheduling. With Revenge, clearly it has an audience, but this makes it obvious that Sun at 10 might not be maximizing the potential love viewership. But with COPS what you see is what you get.
TBBT with an 8.0. That is amazing.
GO PERSON OF INTEREST!!!
Shaun P.
This DVR recording is for the week of December 31, 2012-January 5, 2013. Since Greys are always on the DVR list, it may have been a repeat that week (I’m not sure, but I’m sure you know). If it was the list don’t mention repeats so Grey’s isn’t on the list.
^January 6, 2013. Slight error.
Great for Revenge and Once Upon A Time!!!
Awesome for Revenge! It got a 2.4 Live and went up to a 3.5 with Live+7
People are still watching, it’s just they aren’t watching it live.
But i’m really interested to see the ratings for the Jan 13th and Jan 20th episodes. Now if those are solid 3s with Live+7 then the show will most likely rebound when it isn’t against huge competition.
Live+7 does indicate what the potential *live* audience could be, if those DVR’ing a program decide to get more into it than they already are and make it appointment, live viewing. based on what we’ve seen thus far, though, there hasn’t been a huge boost to a program’s live viewership following strong DVR numbers.
Can someone explain? Which category shows the TOTAL number of viewers and TOTAL demo with live viewers + DVRs totaled in?
Im bad at this lol
@ZmaX
Yeah i agree. Revenge is doing great.
Do you know how much relevant DVR numbers are for when networks make renewal decisions? Do DVR numbers matter alot or just little?
I have wanted to say this for awhile, but as far as Max goes and his vendetta against Revenge is absolutely silly. For the record, I love BOTH scandal and Revenge!
