Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    No The Voice lead in
    No American Idol lead in
    No Football lead in
No The Big Bang Theory lead in

    A 2-low show as a lead in..

    That’s The Following. :)

  • Baaa!

Bones and The Following did well. Acting and suspense was good for The Following, but I think the premise to be a bit much. That can be okay if done right. So far so good and now I have something to watch between Bones and Castle. Castle rise is nice, but expected, as it does well when shown week to week, but here comes another two week break.:( CBS drops were expected with full competition returning and a show more appealing than The Mob Doc. Post AFC champ spot did not help H5O much this week.

@I hope you realize how wrong you are Oliver.

Nope you are wrong not Oliver.

    last year fox premieres:
    Touch – 3.9, second episode 3.1
    ALkatraz – 3.3 2 hours
Tera nova – 3.1 2 hours or 1 not remember already.

  • Oliver

    @WOWZA

I didn’t call it a failure. I just said that you’re wrong and Fox had three premieres of this magnitude last season alone.

  • Luke

Seriously, CBS needs to move H50 (or cancel it downright). It wasted the AFC lead-in on it, and look… back down to a 2.2 and under 10 mil the next night.

Granted, I wanted POI to get the Super Bowl slot and still think Elementary is not going to benefit from it a lot, but at least give a bigger push to POI. Not that it needs one, but a little boost would help solidify it’s potential to become the next NCIS.

  • Joe

The Following did well but expect a drop next week as most shows drop after their premier…with advertising dropping and it’s lead-in usually in the low 2s I fully expect the Following to fall to mid-low 2s by March…nothing against the show or FOX but dramas (crime dramas that is) are slipping this season

CBS was solid but down slightly, H5O did poorly, this show will never be a big hit….

  • Burr

Last night’s H50 was such a great episode, can’t believe it didn’t get better ratings! CBS just put H50 on Tuesday at 10 already, clearly not a good match with comedies, how about putting POI on Monday at 10, see how that procedural does there instead of its protected spot after BBT??

  • madbengalsfan85

Bones was awesome last night…and watching Pelant sew his face back together made me queasy

  • Mon

I gave H50 another chance last night. And alas, they didn’t catch or kill Wo Fat despite the hundreds of bullets that flew. He’s a notorious killer and they let him escaped because the congressman has a bullet in his shoulder and that it’s bad! In the shoulder!!! Uhm, Wo Fat wanted the congressman alive so his fine! Why not kill Wo Fat instead? Such stupid episode.

  • eridapo

Bones went up because people who wanted to catch The Following tune in early to catch the show, and if the Following did start at 8:58 as someone else mentioned than that is where the possible tenth boost.

As to H50, CBS has to be disappointed on the performance given the exposure following the AFC championship. I’m betting Les is kicking himself over that and is now questioning the Elementary move for the post Superbowl slot.

  • Jackson

The Following was a contrived show with a ridiculous plot. I watched the whole thing, will not return. Much like The Last Resort on ABC, this is a show that should be a 1 season show or a miniseries. How can they possibly stretch this into multiple seasons? Viewers will catch on and abandon it eventually. I say low 2′s by March, but will get renewed, like Touch.

  • Juan

Yay for castle, stable as always, and I’m sorry cause I really never say anything bad about other shows but that is kinda bad forH5O, after it was watched by lots of people Sunday, and deception is probably over

  • mbmd

I liked TF with was like The Mentalist , basic instinct and hanibal in one

  • Amy

@ Winston Mize The time it airs has no relation to the ratings. GG did badly in the ratings because the writing had been awful for a long time.

  • danny94

Well deception is dead, A good start for the Following the real test will be next week.

  • WOWZA

    Chrisitian.

    I apologize.

But anyone who says these numbers are anything but great (For FOX) is ridiculous. Even if it did fall, which mark my words if it does it will be by 0.1 or 0.2 and likely regain that by seasons end, it’s still the biggest hour long FOX has.

FOX needed this big time. Idol only has 2.5 more than this (which all things considered in not much).

    X factor did worse.

Look at the writing on the wall (This season).

  • eridapo

    @ CrimTV

Are u sure about that? I think Revolution premiere higher than the Following and Elementary.

  • Bad Wolf

I knew Hawaii 5-0 would not benefit from its Sunday airing, but I didn’t expect it to do even WORSE than its previous regular episode ! The decline between the 2 half-hours is not a good sign either.

The Following did good, but as as usual, news of its future decline/success are greatle exaggerated.

There’s no way The CW can justify a renewal for 90210 with numbers like these : it’s a dead show walking.

Bones is really impressive, look at the jump between the two half-hours !

How I Met Your Mother seems to be back on tracks after its weaker fall numbers.

  • Edward

Watched The Following last night was damn good hope it does well in the coming weeks!

  • WOWZA

LAST season is not this season.

Last season FOX was 25% higher in the ratings.

    This is not last season.

    This is this season.

I dont live in an imaginary world where this is still last season.

    Sorry.
