It may not have made our Sunday top 100 cable ratings this week, but HBO has already picked up Girls for a third season, according to the show's creator Lena Dunham. Deadline reports that Dunham gave the scoop to Alec Baldwin while appearing on his podcast. Dunham said that the show will start filming its third season in March. Based on the ratio of its ratings to the amount of articles written about it, every single person person who watches Girls blogs about it. The show just won a Golden Globe for best comedy, which may have factored into its early renewal. Dunham has a history of breaking news about her own show, tweetin the date of its second season premiere before HBO announced it.
Wow no surprise here HBO loves this show.
Geez. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This has got to be the worst show on TV right now. I really hope ratings tank so hard LIKE THEY ARE and HBO loses a ton of money on this unclassy overrated MONSTER Lena Dunham.
Thats it! I`m canceling my HBO (agh I think I get it as a package but whatever). Any network that is celebrating second rate trash like this has nowhere in my time of day. When HBO announces CURB is back for another season I`ll get the channel again.

I can understand not liking a show, that’s just an opinion, but why are getting so worked up about it. I’m a big fan of the show, I feel that the growth of the characters as they try to define who they are and want they want to become is interesting. I’m not a fan of Big Brother, but I don’t get angry when the show gets renewed, it doesn’t affect me in any way.

its a great show. i caught last sundays ep on demand before sundays airing. ratings do not factor in because its on hbo.

It’S really great news. I am hoping the good wife -another sunday show that nobody watch- gets renewed too.
Anyway, Girls is a great show. 2nd best on HBO only behind Game Of Thrones.
I suppose it’s an inexpensive show to make. It probably is worth it for HBO to renew, since the critics like it.
Personally, I find this show terrible. Nothing against Lena Dunham, but she did not deserve the Golden Globe. If you ask me, she probably got it as a “Thank You” for doing that Obama commercial.
Liberal Hollywood just loves to reward outspoken liberal actors, as well as Republican bashers (like “Game Change”). They don’t even try to hide their bias anymore.
I find that, almost without exception, people moaning about Girls (like that dude above who called Lena Dunham a “monster”…wow, okay) are raging misogynists and/or have a subliminal puritanical streak a mile wide.
