via press release:

Last night Jimmy Kimmel’s arch nemesis, Oscar winner Matt Damon, exacted his revenge following a decade of torture by hijacking Kimmel’s late-night show and renaming it “Jimmy Kimmel Sucks.” Damon showed Kimmel how it’s done by packing his one-evening-only late-night turn with comedy and a cavalcade of A-list stars. On the heels of the ratings success of the episode, it will have a special primetime encore, TUESDAY, JANUARY 29 at 10:00 p.m., ET. (Rebroadcast. OAD: 1/24/13)

Note: This program replaces “Body of Proof: Mind Games.”

Damon replaced Kimmel’s longtime sidekick, Guillermo, with legendary actor Andy Garcia, his best childhood friend and bandleader, Cleto, with multi-Grammy winner Sheryl Crow, and packed his couch with such Hollywood notables as Nicole Kidman, Gary Oldman, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon and Demi Moore, plus special guest appearances by comedians Robin Williams and Sarah Silverman. Even Ben Affleck stopped by to participate in the big night, though his allegiance was torn between childhood friend Damon and former paramour Kimmel.

Featuring Matt Damon’s takeover of Kimmel’s late-night show on Thursday (1/24/13), ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” ranked as the No. 1 program in late-night in both Households (2.92 rating) and Adults 18-49 (1.23 rating) in Nielsen’s 56 Metered Markets. Thursday’s telecast marked “JKL’s” best yet since moving to 11:35 p.m. in HH, and its 2nd-strongest in young adults. In the key Adult 18-49 demo, “JKL” beat NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” by 62% and CBS’ “The Late Show with David Letterman” by 120%. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “JKL” ranked No. 1 in 9 of the Top 10 U.S. markets in Adults 18-49, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Now in its tenth season, “JKL” is packed with hilarious comedy bits and features a diverse lineup of guests including celebrities, athletes, musicians, comedians and humorous human interest subjects. Every night Kimmel delivers his up-to-the minute take on the latest news and pop culture topics from the day’s events in his monologue, and has recently welcomed such notables as Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, Robert Pattinson, Katy Perry, Will Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Charlize Theron, John Krasinski, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Justin Bieber, Jessica Simpson, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Andy Samberg, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Charlie Sheen, Chris Pine, Jeremy Renner, Jada Pinkett Smith, Josh Brolin, Russell Brand, Woody Harrelson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” broadcasts from Disney’s El Capitan Theater, located on Hollywood Boulevard in the heart of L.A.’s star-studded Walk of Fame. Kimmel showcases this illustrious location’s unique character throughout his show by regularly interacting with the local “Super Heroes” parading along the boulevard and challenging passersby to participate in various comedy bits. He has also created many one-of-a-kind concert experiences, closing down Hollywood streets around his studio to hold musical block party events with artists such as Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Depeche Mode, as well as special outdoor and lobby performances by Adele, Linkin Park, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Tony Bennett, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Lady Antebellum, Usher, Lenny Kravitz, Brad Paisley, Lil Wayne, Phoenix, 50 Cent, No Doubt and Dave Matthews Band.

    Oh great.

  • GARebelman

Sheesh, ABC is really desperate for Kimmel to work out now giving him a 10PM prime time slot for a REPEAT?

  • SJ

Which likely means the Body of Proof repeat will air the following week, which makes more sense.

  • joel

I’d say they’re the opposite of desperate. He’s dominating late night and they’re justifiably proud of that ready-for-prime-time episode of a show which was more accurately named “Jimmy Kimmel Sucks”.

  • joel

BTW, that episode is a shoo-in for an Emmy or two.

  • JFC

Maybe they could just put Jimmy Kimmel on at 10:OO every Monday thru Friday , then they could,,oh wait

  • rob60990

ABC is supposed to be airing a special episode of The Bachelor on February 5 from 9-11 so Saturday may be the only spot for them to repeat BOP.

Late Night television was changed forever last night, with the greatest Late Night show of all time
‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’: Matt Damon steals the show… Literally

You can read about it here:

I suggest everyone watch it again and again, it is fantastic.

  • Honey Badger

ABC should air it in prime time after Modern Family, and it would be the most watched program of the week.

this show has gotten great buzz and fantastic reviews

  • JulieDawn

Actually I’m pleased about this, as I didn’t see it last night, and based on all the clips, now I want to.
Being in Canada, unfortunately it’s not available to me online, and not on my OnDemand either.

  • SJ

Wow, so there won’t be a single repeat airing of Body of Proof and when it comes back it will have Happy Endings as a lead-in. All I can say is good luck…
