Idol only down 5.5% from last season. Not bad!
@SJ
Nothing has good retention out of megahits, though.
Honestly, the bigger problem is that Fox is wasting the timeslot on a veteran rather than launching a new show in that slot.
Fox has a tough decision to make with Glee. Its ratings are still okay, but it’s fading and they really need the timeslot to launch something new. Perhaps give it a half-season order next year?
Yay for BATB. Last night’s ep was quite good
Scandal rerun gets better retention out of Grey’s than a new Glee gets out of Idol. Ouch.
And yet Glee is STILL the network’s #1 scripted show unless The Following holds the vast majority of its premiere audience!
Was Max up for a part on Revenge and got turned down? I don’t get the constant bashing of a show that has nothing to do with another. Seriously it gets OLD reading his same old post over and over. Different shows, different nights, different competition.
I never expected Glee to last any more than 4-5 seasons anyway, so i’m happy with 5 being it’s last, which I believe will happen. It didn’t do terribly though
@PMR
100% agree, especially the fact that Revenge has had to compete with the Golden Globe’s, AFC and soon the Grammys!
Congrats to Beauty and the Beast! Keep it up, season 2 is looking good for next year:-)
@Clarke
Sure, the show is doing good for FOX (simply because FOX is having a bad year)
Nonsense. Glee is averaging a 2.4, that would be renewed on any of the big four networks.
Good for B&TB! I surely thought after the winter hiatus, it was going to follow the same pattern as “Secret Circle” and “Ringer.” 0.7 is obviously nothing to jump up and down for, but this is stable territory for the CW standards! It also helps that the show won “Best New TV Show” at the People’s Choice Awards! I say its a lock for renewal, at this point! They have much bigger fish to fry.
beauty and the beast not adjusted down…maybe there’s hope yet
@Michael
winning awards especially awards like that doesn’t guarantee renewal ratings do.

Why is that a problem? They’re making more money with Glee this way and they have had very little luck launching shows out of American Idol.

No, they don’t really need that timeslot to launch something new – Monday 9pm will be free for a new drama in the fall.
Perhaps give it a half-season order next year?
Glee is still either the highest rated drama or highest rated live-action comedy on FOX, depending on how you categorize it (although The Following will likely top it). Why would FOX want to cut back on the number of episodes?
I wish I could understand why you rush them out just so you have to adjust them a few hours later !! I always say get it right the first time !!!

The Simpsons and Family Guy are both averaging a 3.0 rating this season, well above Glee.
Scandal 1.7 — lead-in 3.0 —> LOSER
Elementary 1.5 — lead-in 1.9 —> WINNER

Because news stories posted in the middle of the day get significantly higher readership than those posted after 5p ET.
With the adjustment down looks like our predictions on the poll were correct
I was hoping TVD would go up. Oh well, good for B&tB.
Beauty and the Beast did great. Really surprising. Looks like its not dead yeat.
