I agree with the wannabewriter for days, but i would have hope come home from work, find a letter saying that Bo’s been Kidnapped and being held hostage and beaten everyday. They call Steve to come and help find him.I also think its time for Marlena to flip out and bring back the Devil….Days is hot right now, loving it…Tim…

  • JayTN

jonboy…people have different tastes, just because you may like something doesn’t mean everyone else has to as well. No “alternate universe” just differing opinions. That should be common sense.

  • Jerry Styles

I like how all of the soaps have a core of young actors to start building the shows around. The veteran actors aren’t going to be around forever as we just caught a glimpse into the future with Susan Flannery retiring on B&B and Ronn Moss leaving also.

B&B was the smartest in this area of building up Steffy, Hope, and Liam’s characters and being successful with it due to that god awful triangle storyline but hey its helped B&B these past couple of years and now they got a renewal. They’re flaw is not getting Marcus, Dayzee, and Thomas in better situations on the show.

DAYS has done very well building up Will, Sonny, Gabi, Nick, and Chad. They were able to put them in the forefront and get ratings out of them. DAYS has a bunch of veterans past their prime as well so it was really important for them to focus on the youth. They’re flaw is they really need to figure out Abigail’s character as she was better as a crazy girl last year than a good girl and build up Cam like they did with Daniel. DAYS has always had the best history of building up youth characters as they are known for building up Bo & Hope back in the 80s into a powerhouse supercouple.

GH is in fine positioning as well, I like the balance right now on the show. They’re veterans can still go right now for another 10-15 years right now but Ron C. always did a good job on OLTL of building up the youth over there and they have quite of selection young talent who have a great presence in Britt, Sabrina, Felix, Starr, Michael, TJ, and Molly. TJ and Molly in my opinion are the best couple on the entire show and Britt WOW this girl can act. They’re flaw remains Kristina, Lexi Ainsworth needs to comeback.

Y&R no doubt has brought in so many young actors lately that they’re clearly rebuilding the show a bit and its perfect timing as the new writing has gotten so much better on the show. Fen’s direction is so awesome right now as he reminds me of a young Kevin. Another good thing about youths done well is that they can give veterans some good screen time, I can’t remember the last time Lauren and Michael were in a good storyline. They’ve brought in so many new people lately that I can’t even name them all. LOL! Good stuff and not a flaw so far that I can think of right now. They’re definitely headed in the right direction.

I’m hoping the AMC and OLTL reboots head towards this direction as well especially AMC which needs a complete rebuild and needs focus more on the youth than the veterans. I would like to see Lindsay Hartley step in as the main female player on the show since she did a great job of leading Passions all of those year at a very young age.

All in all the youth movement is so important in this new era of soaps right now.

  • robert sprague

bring back Jackie zeman bobbi shes one of the missing links to the show I don’t know why frank and ron are waiting.

  • Jeff

jonboy and robert– totally agree with you both 100%. GH is so intriguing. I have no idea what’s going to happen next, and while it may be far fetched, it is truly exciting to have no idea what is going to unfold, but I can’t to find out from day to day. Good for Frank and Ron for making it can’t miss TV. And, Bobbie is so missed and needed.

  • Gigle

God stuff Jerry Styles I agree the new character are really important for the genre to grow right now in this new era of the soaps.

  • Kayla Rae

I said it once and I’ll say it again, GH bores me to tears…can’t get through a whole episode. Read it and weep, Jonnyboy.

  • Kayla Rae

I too can see the writing on the wall hinting that Nick will eventually go off the deep end and end up a sinister force to be reckoned with. I like your proposed storylines for the most part, wannabewriter. But I would bring back Steve and have him in a love triangle with Kayla and Abe, with Steve winning out in the end of course. Days is hot, Hot, HOT!!!

  • jonboyelk

@JayTN Absolutely no reason to insult mine or anyone else’s intelligence (ie, your common sense comment.) @Kayla Once? You’re a broken friggin record on the subject. And equally nasty. Both types who hide behind social networking. Face to face I wonder if either would have the nerve to speak so condescendingky to another. In my perfect world Jay and Kayla would travel to Port Charles, where Sonnys thugs would gun both down and feed them to the fish and do all of us a huge favor.

  • Mike

    Wow just wow.

I don’t agree with everything anyone says on here, but I thought everyone was entitled to speak their minds no matter what. I guess freedom of speech doesn’t apply in regards to soap operas.

Sorry but wishing death on another person just because you don’t like what they say is uncalled for. It is not just Kayla in here who can be a broken record, many say basically the same thing many different times in regards to how great their show is or how bad another show is. One poster all the time goes on about how bad B&B is but how great Y&R is and attacks people for saying it isn’t great. Another poster goes on and on about how bad Y&R is. Others just go on and on praising everything about GH. Are we supposed to wish death on all of them too?

  • Jeff

@jonboyelk that did go too far and was just as unnecessary as the comment made to you.

@Kayla– if GH is so boring, then just stop watching or if you aren’t watching, then you actually don’t know if it’s boring or not. We all have our likes and dislikes, but you repeating the same comment over and over does nothing to contribute to the conversation, in my opinion.

  • JayTN

jonboy…if you were offended by my comment, that’s on you. It truly should be common sense that not everyone enjoys the same things, whether it be authors, hobbies, sports, or television series. Personally, I don’t think there is any reason to “insult my intelligence” by making people who disagree with you out to be flawed some how (i.e. “watching an alternate version of GH”) because they can’t see the “greatness” of GH.

Mike…you hit the nail on the head. Some people here give lip service to letting people say and post their own opinions, just so they can say what they want, yet are highly intolerant of anyone who disagrees with their opinion. Some, like jonboyelk and Jeff even go so far as to question the intelligence of people who don’t see or like the same things they do and then scream and cry crocodile tears about having their own “intelligence” insulted or questioned. Which is worse, asking someone to use a little common sense before asking a question (“why can’t everyone see how wonderfully great GH is, like I do?) or wanting others to be physically harmed because they don’t agree with you, even if it is by a fictitious soap opera character?

So, I guess we can add jonboyelk to the list of people who support freedom of speech, or at least only speech that they agree with.

  • JayTN

For the record, I don’t type anything that I would not be comfortable saying to that person face-to-face.

  • JayTN

Just to clarify my previous statement (since they cannot be edited), I should not have lumped “Jeff” in with my comments concerning jonboyelk.

  • Jeff

@JayTN– thanks for the correction. I certainly think everyone has the right to say or think what they want, and there is plenty of room for everyone’s opinion, and it would be great to stay polite and keep the conversation “productive” whatever that means. I certainly think jonboyelk went way too far in response to your comment and his dislike of Kayla. While I tire of her same comment over and over and over again, and I hope she will stop sounding like a broken record, I wish her no ill will.

I have learned to let the negativity of others roll off my back.

Let’s all try to keep it classy or at least classier!

  • jonboyelk

God, how I hate getting involved in these squabbles. I’ll defend myself this one time and not comment on it further. First, I never posted that I questionned anyone’s intelligence. Actually I read all these posts because it amuses me to see the differences of opinions. That “common sense” comment insulted me personally. Up until that point Jay’s comment was perfectly acceptable. As for the ‘Port Charles revenge” on my two haters, read it again people. It was all said in jest. Now if I had said I personally wanted to take them out that would be another story. For every action there is a reaction. Jay and K pushed my buttons with the common sense and crybaby remarks. Rather than lie back and allow it. I pushed back. No regrets. Hate me if you must.

  • TimsDale4ever

Are you GH viewers going to miss Steve Burton? Yesterday was his first episode on Y&R and he looks like a good fit for this show. He wasn’t written to come off cocky which is the way so many new charcters are written these days for some unknown reason to me — and the character is not 18 to 20 years old. That’s a big plus for me. And the Nikki secret that appears to be something bad is interesting. At least these 2 situations do NOT have business takeovers tied to them, which is about 90% of this show anymore. ???? Still liking the aged Noah — I just wish they would do something with the character besides this Adrianna nonsense. He could be soooooooooooo interesting with the right story.

  • JayTN

Just to rebut jonboyelk’s comments…you may have been “personally offended” by my “common sense” remark, but here is what you said at the bottom of page 3…

“Is there like an alternate version of GH somewhere out there that I’m not seeing because, for the life of me I don’t understand how ANYONE who CONSISTENTLY watches GH could label it boring.”

That comment personally offended me, because it suggests that there is something wrong with people who do indeed find GH boring. In fact, some people could even infer that you insinuated that people who do find GH boring are stupid or ignorant.

As far as comments being in “jest”, obviously people did not see any humor or “jest” in those comments, even if they were prefaced by “in my perfect world”. Very often comments that be seen in “jest” or tongue-in-cheek or even sarcastic just don’t come across that way when read.

TimsDale4ever…I never much cared for Steve Burton on GH, as he didn’t seem to exhibit much “range” as an actor. However, his short time on Y&R has shown a different side to him, coming across as kind of sheepish and even vulnerable instead of his stoic and downright stiff portrayal of Jason on GH. I still think that Burton is not the most talented star, but so far I am liking his portrayal of his new Y&R character better than I did his old GH character.

  • LynTX

Interesting debate. Considering the # of folks that actually watch soaps compared to other daytime parts (Judge Judy – 9 -10M; TPIR -over 5M) shouldn’t we try harder to find commonalities for the sake of the genre? We do not have to like and dislike the SAME things – its OK.

  • soapydish

Me too to the SBurton thing. Didn’t like him on GH and wuz prepared not to like him on this but I’m seeing a different guy.
