Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

@Brandy.. While True Nikita isn’t pulling in stellar ratings, BUT what show on the CW is really “TRULY” pulling in “STELLAR” ratings..

The CW is like the Pittsburgh Pirates of baseball. Sure CW was decent when it was “WB” just like Pitssburgh Pirates were good in the early 90s.. Since then both have gone downhill and always hope every season to be contending with the big dogs (New York yankees, Texas Rangers or LA Angels aka CBS, FOX and ABC).

With this said your comments prove null and void.. You criticize nikita for its pathetic ratings, yet you compliment a more pathetic show in the process called 90210. On a Monday night where people watch more tv live and still the show couldn’t even break 1 MILLION VIEWERS for it’s “Spectacular 100th episode.” Emily Owens got a .4, 90210 did a .4, Carrie did a .5, Hart of Dixie pulls .5 and .6 throughout season 2, beauty and the Beast pulled a .5 before and mainly gets .6 although it did hit a .7 this week it still not that great with VD as a leadin. I don’t get your theories on How Nikita is any more pathetic then any other shows outside of Arrow, Vampire Diaries, and Supernatural?!!?

I LMAO at all the idiots who think their shows pulling a .5 or .6 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights( at 9) are that much better than a show on Friday nights that are expected to underperform compared to shows throughout Sunday-Thursday!!

I’m not a fan of Nikita but I will say this… Did I think Nikita deserved a renewal last season? Answer is NO, but neither did gossip girl or 90210. Do I think a lot of the shows pulling a .4-.6 deserve a renewal this season? Answer is HELL NO.. But the CW can’t replace a whole 7 shows out of 10 timeslots at once. They can only rebuild one step at a time. They are lucky they got one hit out of 3 new shows so far this season to carry on to next season. So If I had to choose on which underperforming show to bring back for next season it would be Nikita, NOT 90210, NOT CARRIE, NOT BATB, and although I’m not that impressed with HOD I guess it will be brought back next year too.

So quit arguing you make yourselves look childish and pathetic. I just root for the CW in general. I like the underdog and am rooting for it to rise atleast a 1.0 nightly average sometime in the distant to near future lol… :)

  • Dan

Nikita is such a great show and lmao at the haters. You all can whine and complain but it will still get renewed lol!!!

  • Jane

TCD will probably be adjusted down to 0.3, while Nikita doesn’t.

  • SamG

chris23 that was a brilliant post!!! Nikita season 4 here we come

  • Winning C.

WOW! Look at Nikita, that has to be the highest rating no doubt about it of the season and the biggest since last season. I remember starting out the year last year Nikita actually was over 1.5 million and got around 0.4-0.6s regularly. The CW made a really good decision moving the show back up to 8pm. Like I mentioned earlier in the week, the network has a bit of a disconnect in that 9pm hour probably because the affiliates usually boost the 8pm shows with their high-rated syndicated comedies like BBT, Friends, and Two and a Half Men.

I think The CW should start back repeating Beauty and the Beast on Fridays at 9pm for the rest of the season and move the show there this fall. Does Cult have a timeslot yet?

Although the networks were in repeats I did want to talk about the comedies at 8pm since I thought it was interesting how well the ABC comedies and Off Their Rockers repeated. Both networks got 4-5 million viewers with what’s become regular demos for comedies these days when their in repeats during the season. Off Their Rockers is becoming one hell of a utility player for NBC and every network needs a utility player. I think NBC really should use Off Their Rockers to boost Whitney/Guys with Kids so that they can become a little stronger heading into the next season and really develop the growth of the multi-cams on the comedy roster for the network.

Next season will be interesting for NBC because they’ve actually been sort of solid with their repeats all year at 8pm on Fridays. I think there’s enough room for the network to program comedies on the night. I would totally put Guys with Kids and Up All Night there. The question becomes rather or not NBC leaves Grimm there on Fridays because moving it is a risky move. I’m not sure if they will move SVU since that’s working on Wednesdays and has really helped Chicago Fire become the top new shows of the season outside of Elementary.

For ABC I’m wondering if the network will move 20/20 to Saturdays since they seem to be testing that and this may allow them to move Shark Tank to 10pm since I already know their expanding the comedies to two hours next season.

Last but not least is FOX and I think they really need to find out what works for them on Fridays because its been a historical struggle for them. I think they should think about programming sports on the night in the future like they did on Saturdays which really worked for them.

  • Brandy

@Chris my talking about 90210 was to one say that eeven when it hits lows,it rebounds, though it might not now with bding on at 9pm and underperforming leadin and 2.yes 90210 0.4s this season are bad, but at least much older show then Nikita, which stsrted hitting 0.4 in season two and theres no way of spinning that as good. 3.my point was that if Nikita adjusts down to 0.4(which is possible),then Nikita will tie 90210 &EOMD for lowest rated cw show and thats not celebration worthy like you Nikita fans think it is.Yes 90210 and GG declined a lot after season three in ratings but the first three hits ratings wise and made CW money in other ways.Nikita will be again extremley lucky to be renewed(rumors are Pedowitz has told to clean house, so I wouldnt count on Nikita being renewed) whereas at least 90210& GG will have six season to Nikitas four.
If Nikitas so popular in Asia, they should air season four and on and syndicate there only, not in the US cause noone watches it here. Its Nikitas hypocrite fans saying GG or 90210 getting same demo should be cancelled cause theyre are so bad but Nikita getting thr same 0.4 is doing soo great and should be renewed and get special treatment that irks me. You would bring back Nikita next season instead of HoD or BatB which di better in ratings only because you like it which makes you no better than Pedowitz reneweing the lowest rated show.Nikita only makes money in Asia, nowhere else, makes little ad revenue ,sells dvds only average yet the showd that make more money or are stable in ratings,HoD you would cancel.I know 0 5_0.6 arent great, but theyre avareage on CW where Nikitas 0.4 makes it the lowest rated show yet to you its great but higher ratings arent that good.

  • Lisa

When your season high is a .5… LOL!

    What an uneventful night.

  • Kat

Dear lord the childishness displayed in these comments from everyone is truly astounding. I’ve read the word pathetic so many times it seems to have lost all meaning.

Happy to see Nikita up. Yes it’s still a low rating, and yes it could be adjusted down. But since at this point syndication makes a renewal almost certain, my main reason for wanting higher ratings is that I think Nikita is a genuinely good show with a great cast. To that end, I’m happy to see any rise. Glad more people tuned in, whatever the reason they did.

  • Ali

sad times when your season high is a 0.5 – and that’s with no competition…

  • CBSviewer

Nikita is now Certain to be Renewed but it’ll stay on Friday at 8. No other CW could move to Friday at 9.
Maybe The CW will move 90210 for its Final Season of 13 episodes. After all 90210 could go to Friday because the final Season ratings don’t really matter.
The other Shows (HoD,…) are too weak to move and The CW needs Supernatural, Arrow and The Vampire Diaries.

  • Sigourney

0.5 for Nikita? Nothing to rave about, really.

  • Richard Steven Hack

Chris23: Excellent post, well thought out.

Brandy: You still don’t comprehend the difference between a .4-.5 on Friday and the same rating on any other week day. Any show doing those ratings on a week night is WORSE than any show doing those ratings on a Friday.

Plus Nikita has been pretty stable since last season. They dropped .1 from last season to this season and have fluctuated between .4 and .5 since.

You move ANY of the other low-rated shows on the CW to Friday and they will probably end up doing .3-.4 or lower because most shows take a hit when moved to Fridays.

The only reason you are constantly complaining about Nikita is because you DON’T like it or you’re just trolling.

  • networkman

Nikita is a show that the network can count on to maintain consistent numbers on Friday night. It has a loyal fanbase. This is a night that the network does not have to worry about for next year. Keep Nikita in its timeslot for stability. And then I would move Beauty & the Beast to Friday at 9pm next season. If Nikita is doing great internationally, I would also give it a short order, final 5th season as well. The show has more viewers than some of the dramas throughout the week. It would be nice to see Nikita produce at least 100 episodes.

  • Nitez

Nikita hits .5 (season high) when other shows were in repeats? And Nikita fanboys are all extremely excited? O_o

I thought 90210 (that stupid show) already hits .6 twice last year, and they’re in the 5th season am I rite?

  • thesnowleopard

    @Ultima
Apparently so, since these are the same folks who were saying Beauty and the Beast’s 0.7 on Thursday was just a fluke, yet Nikita scrapes the lower levels of that show’s ratings, and barely meets the ratings that have gotten other shows on the network canceled, for its season high and suddenly, it’s a lock for a new season while Beauty and the Beast sucks.

Never mind that, if Nikita gets a fourth season, it will be entirely due to syndication concerns. If there were any other reason, the show wouldn’t have survived getting 0.2s and 0.3s last fall.

  • JJA

@networkman — Nikita getting to 100 episodes is not unrealistic. If it gets a full season 4, it only needs another 11 episodes to make it to 100.

  • Kavyn

It’ll be fun when we start getting BATB and Cult fans blaming Nikita for their show’s cancellations in 4 months :)

  • Illinois

When did the CW’s ratings become so low. I mean 2 years ago Supernatural and Smallville got a 1.1 or a 1.2 on Friday and now a 0.5 is extraordinary !
I think the CW became a network for teenagers. Look at 90210 or even Hart of Dixie. Both Shows seem to target Teenagers and it’s normal to get 0.4 among Adults 18-49 when the Show is mainly watch by 15-17.
Then, why the CW moved Nikita to Friday ? This Show is really good and should be on Monday or Tuesday. When it moved the Show was too young. I mean Smallville moved after 8 years and Supernatural after 5.
The CW should turn Friday into a Repeat night. Maybe for their canceled/Ended Shows.
And the last thing is: Why The CW doesn’t air any comedies ? Comedies are, in general, high rated and could easily get a 1.3 or more.

  • Jane

PLL and Awkward are teen shows on cable and they don’t get 0.4 among adults. And Hart of Dixie is not a teen show. Not is Emily Owens M.D.

  • Ultima

    @panda22
its not about a single episodes ratings, its Nikita history of ratings over 3 seasons + the reasons i gave above

You said it was about a single episode’s ratings.

I said Do people really think network’s make decisions based off of how one episode does?

    And you responded with @ Ultima…in Nikita’s case….yes!
