The Following had a pretty good start last week, earning the second-highest premiere rating for a drama this season. However, we have seen in the past that good premiere ratings don't always stick and certainly don't automatically translate into renewals. Do you think The Following can hold on to last week's 3.2? Will it only drop a few tenths? Or is it headed for a big slide? Cast your vote and let us know why in the comments!

I always think the real test is week three. In the second week you sometimes get returning viewers who want to see a little more but aren’t sure if they want to stay the full course just yet. Personally I think The Following will drop hard, maybe not enough to be cancelled, but it won’t be a hit. That may be wishful thinking because I thought it was terrible and nothing more than typical network murder porn, but I say 2.4 this week and maybe holding at about a 2.0 after that.
This is one of the BEST SHOWS this season and it be horrible to see it drop anywhere below a 2.6 in it’s second week. Best PILOT I had seen in years!
2.8 is my guess and it will be stable around 2.5 for it’s run.
I hope over a 3. Didnt watch it live last week because of 2BG for enjoyed it online and am watching tonight!
2.4 and going down. awful show full of senseless violence. I hope it won’t stick around.
@Fathog
real test wont be week 3
CBS comedies return after SuperBowl. CBS will be up in ratings all week next week, so dont expect week 3 to be any help. I think weeks 4-5 will be the test
The odds are it will drop, so I went for 2.7-2.9. It might not drop that much, though.
The real question is will it continue to drop for the next four episodes. That usually determines whether a show will survive or not.
I do wonder about the lack of new episodes Sunday and tonight. Nothing on last night but Lost Girl on cable and tonight only The Following, no Castle, no HFO. Boring.
I hope The Following grows in viewers for the ones of us that don’t like reality shows. I’ll be watching as long as it’s on the air, and I’d never miss Bones.
Following 2.9
TCD .4
i’ll be busy with rupaul’s drag race, thanks. but dallas is on tonight as well, and that rates pretty high for cable so it could be some competition.
My guess is 3.0, the pilot was really good and there was a lot of buzz around it, and it has no big competition
I say a 2.7 or 2.8.
“Can ‘The Following’ Match its Premiere Rating?”
No, but I’m hoping for a 2.8 or better.
CBS is in repeat mode tonight. Castle (ABC) is also a repeat episode. I doubt if the same people who watch The Following (Fox) are the same type of audience that would watch The Bachelor (ABC) or The Biggest Loser (NBC). Deception (NBC) is the only first run show airing opposite The Following tonight that might appeal to the same audience. The real test is when CBS airs original episodes on Monday nights from 9 to 11, and ABC airs an original episode of Castle.

Do Deception and Castle air opposite The Following in your area?
In most of the US, The Following airs in the second hour of primetime, and Deception, Castle and Hawaii Five-0 air in the third.
We’ll see tonight if the show is developing a, um, following.
No, The Following does not air opposite Castle or Deception in my area (New York).
The Following airs from 9 to 10; while Castle, Deception, and Hawaii Five-0 air from 10 to 11.
Fox does not air series programs from 10 to 11, only local news.
However, the fact that CBS is airing repeats from 8 to 11, while ABC is airing a repeat episode of Castle from 10 to 11 could have an impact on The Following’s ratings.
The Following: 2.8
The Carrie Diaries: 0.6
90210: 0.5
And on cable..
Dallas: 1.8 (I’m expecting a series high for the season 2 premiere).
I’m gonna go in for a 3.0 optimistically. Though I’ll be paying more attention to Dallas’ two hour premiere ratings tonight. Definitely a good night for TV.
Considering how solid the premiere was and the lack of competition on the other broadcast networks..im gonna say it will probably only drop a few tenths. My guess is 3.0 rating.
