Can 'The Following' Match its Premiere Rating? (Poll)

The Following had a pretty good start last week, earning the second-highest premiere rating for a drama this season. However, we have seen in the past that good premiere ratings  don't always stick and certainly don't automatically translate into renewals. Do you think The Following can hold on to last week's 3.2? Will it only drop a few tenths? Or is it headed for a big slide? Cast your vote and let us know why in the comments!

Hmm…. just noticed CBS is all repeats. Less competition so now ill say 2.9/8

Even if it drops tonight, it means nothing. Even if it drops to the low 2s tonight it would probably still be renewed. Plus, a slight or even a considerable drop after a series’ premiere is expected. Drama wise, Fox has essentially given up on Touch, Fringe is finished, and the Mob Doctor was dead once they came up with the title. They’ll probably renew the Following unless the ratings dip below 1.6 or 1.7 like Alcatraz did just so they don’t look like jackasses for their decisions last year (canceling Terra Nova and renewing Touch).

My opinion on the series’ fate overall, is that it will decline each week before plateauing at about 2.0-2.2. But Fox will renew the show for a second season, you can count on it.

Also my prediction for tonight is 3.0.

I love how people are complaining about the violence on a show about serial killers. *rme*

    3.3, nothin’s on

I don’t think tonight’s numbers will be the ones to look at, it’s how the show performs February 4, 11, 18, and 25 during sweeps. If it drops slightly, but is steady, the show will get renewed. I think this is a keeper for FOX.

2.6. It will have a rather large drop from episode to episode, mainly from people who tried the show thinking it was something that it isn’t. It should be steady after that, though. I expect it to stay around 2.3-2.5 for the remainder of the season.

Considering the usual drops in week 2 for most shows, I’m eyeing around a 2.8 to a 2.9. Hopefully it’ll keep over a 3 with largely repeat programming running on most networks this week minus the biggest loser. First episode of the Following showed a lot of promise and likely salvaged what has been mostly a disappointing season for FOX thus far.

Is everything I want to watch on at 8:00 on Monday night? The Following, Being Human, CBS comedies, Bunheads. Could you people please put something on Tuesday besides the “watch it when I feel like it” Heart of Dixie and Raising Hope? I’ll give Cult a try when it starts.

I went w/ the majority, 2.7-2.9, though I hope it holds the 3.0+

    Still like Mob Doctor better!

It’ll drop a few tenths for sure, but I think it’ll hold up after that. The pilot wasn’t a fluke, the second episode was just as good and from what I can see most people seem very involved already and loving it. Unless there’s a big drop in quality in the next episodes, I think people will keep watching.

I’d say high 2’s and above 3’s. Bones will up also because HIMYM is not on. They are both male skewing. The 2nd episode was better than the PILOT!!

Either stable or a slight dip to 3.0-3.1, but it’ll have a tougher time holding that audience when it faces post-SB CBS comedies the Monday after. But it was stable last week and got plenty of exposure; I’m guessing it’ll do fine.

Gaude Morose (VP of Corp Comm according to twitter) posted:
“Edgar Allan WHOA. #TheFollowing grew +3% in its 2nd week (to a 3.3 rating)!! Congrats to @kevwilliamson and the entire cast!”

  • Observer

and: “Fun Fact: #TheFollowing showed better retention in week 2 of any new drama this season. As in, it went up…and the others not so much.”

  • CrimTV

Just heard from SpoilerTV that it achieved a 3.3! YES!

  • MichaelChickless

Wow, I didn’t see this increasing from its premiere, even with limited competition.
