Due to the nature of live programming the ratings for NBC (Pro Bowl) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

NBC was number one among adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On NBC, The Pro Bowl earned a 3.3, down three tenths from last year's 3.6 fast national rating (last year's game later adjusted up to a 4.3)

On FOX The Cleveland Show scored a 1.2, down a tenth from its last original's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. The Simpsons was even with the 2.4 it earned two weeks ago. Bob's Burgers earned a 2.0, down three tenths from its last original's 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. Family Guy earned a 2.8, down four tenths from the 3.2 its last original earned. American Dad earned a 2.1, down three tenths from its last original's 2.4.

On CBS, The Good Wife earned a series-low 1.5, down four tenths from its last original's 1.9 adults 18-49 rating. Your predictions were far too optimistic. The Mentalist  garnered a 1.8, down three tenths from its last original's  2.1 adults 18-49 rating. Earlier in the night, 60 Minutes earned a 1.7, down more than a full point and a half from its last original's 3.3 adults 18-49 rating.

On ABC, Hallmark movie The Makeover earned a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. Last year's Hallmark movie ( A Smile as Big as the Moon) earned a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

For more information see Numbers 101 and Numbers 102.

Am I the only one who thinks that the animation domination would draw better ratings in another day? I know that the simpsons and Family guy still draw good ratings on sunday, but I think it could be interesting to see them air in another day… :)

  • Rick

I disagree, @Paul P. I think TGW is as good this year as it’s ever been.

Besides, I don’t understand why you’d continue watching if you think the scripts are “horrible.”

  • Paul P

I like Julianna M. & was hoping they get better.

  • Masterbreel

Well, women have absolutely nothing to say in an American home, that is clear. It is a shame thoug, as a guy i love TGW. But, here in Europe men would also have chosen sports over TGW (at least, they would choose soccer, because that is our sport for all men)

  • Samunto

Are those numbers correct? I don’t see why TGW dropped that much without competition.

Oh, when daylight saving is on in the spring it’ll be averaging a 0.9. So sad. I love the show.

  • John A

@SJ i dont care either way most fox comedies are trash and i dont watch its cartoons but the cartoons do well in syndication.

  • John A

Why do people look at 1 ratings point and think a other show is doing better? TGW is doing better than CSI NY on average.

  • gerry

there is competition for good wife right now, its called downton abbey. and its the same awards-watching audience that watches downton that watches the good wife. between those two shows and revenge, my sundays are absurdly busy. god help me when walking dead comes back.

  • KT

As a female in the key demo, I didn’t watch network TV last night. Instead, it was the SAG Awards on TNT for me.

Perhaps that might explain the numbers from last night.

  • Liam

Hopefully this is a once off 1.5 for the series and the ratings rise for the next episode.

  • Grey

I guess “The Mentalist” wins it’s time slot this week. LOL.

  • Lynn

Good Wife was up against Downton Abbey. Same target audience.

  • Rob R

“The Good Wife” most definitely has competition for its core audience. It was never “Revenge.” Its competition is “Downton Abbey” on PBS, which is CANT MISS for the affluent 25 to 54 year olds that typically watch TGW.

  • Dan

Yeah, The Cleveland Show definitely isn’t getting a fifth season. As for The Good Wife and Mentalist, Mentalist continues to build on Good Wife but if CBS is still pushing for syndication than Mentalist is out of luck and GW may get a fifth year. Or they may try to dump both of them.

The level of Fan Excuse Bingo play over The Good Wife has been impressive today, and somewhat surprising to me.

Where have all you bingo players been for the last several years of terrible TGW ratings?

  • Bazza

    Good figures for AD.
Nice to see Bob’s Burgers and American dad doing equally as good, same goes for FG and Simpsons.

  • Mon

    @John A
Why do people look at 1 ratings point and think a other show is doing better? TGW is doing better than CSI NY on average.

It’s not just about what TGW got last night, it’s about what it’s been getting every week. There are more than 40% of all adults 18-49 watching TV every Sundays at 9pm. But it still can’t even come close to getting the ratings of CBS 10pm dramas except Vegas which is a such goner.

  • Bob

Downton Abbey hurt The Good Wife 1oo percent! Downton Abbey last night…I watched! Holy Crap! What on Earth were they thinking! I am 100 percent in Shock!!! That might have been the most shocking scene in Television History!!!!!

  • psychic

Mentalist needs to relocate to escape the Bear. Maybe climb the thick-branched Friday tree.
Good Wife is so pathetic and sickly, I doubt it has a chance of escape at this point.

  • r0ckmypants

I know it was obvious that they were playing with theatricality. But the reason I found the whole episode engaging was because I knew exactly which plays and playwrights were being sent up. And American Dad is nothing if not committed; they don’t abandon concepts after a few minutes to make it easier on the audience. Like Wheels & The Leg Man is obviously a parody of buddy cop movies & shows, but they didn’t just stop playing the joke of it all just because the audience “got it.”
