I think NBC needs to make a smart decision here and move Whitney/GWK to Tuesdays behind Betty White because Smash is doomed without them. Go On and TNN will kill Smash.

  • Justin121

Also, 7 episodes for Go On and New Normal through Feb, March, April, AND May!?!!

  • CrimTV

I think Go On will stick around for another season but unfortunately TNN will probably be cancelled :(

  • Justin121

    CW pecking order:

    0.4: Emily Owens MD, 90210
    0.4-0.5: Nikita
    0.5: Carrie Diaries
    0.5-0.6: Hart of Dixie

    0.6-0.7: Beauty and the Beast

And there’s still four whole months to go.

    @ DAN

Apparently me and you have different views for Mindy Project. You think Mindy ratings are “OK” and I think Mindys ratings are a huge disappointment. How do you see 1.3-1.5 as ok ratings for the fox lineup? Sure it premiered to a 2.4 Out of Curiosity and then scored a1.9 for eps 2 and 3. From that point forward to current it has hit 1.3 twice, mostly 1.5s and recently a 1.7 probably due to New Girl ticking up. These are horrible ratings.

Bringing Familiarity is your reasoning for bringing back Mindy Project w/Raising Hope and New Girl? No way. Fox has showed its support for all 4 comedies on Tuesday Nights! It even gave Mindy an additional 2 scripts totaling at 24 eps. Not to mention during winter break each comedy repeated 4 times on its own night. When all 4 comedies repeated a Raising Hope repeat almost performed at a Mindy Project Original which scored 2.58 viewers and a 1.1 demo just missing the 1.3 and 2.68 Mindy had the week before!

I think Fox tried its best with the comedies. Ben and Kate is gone, Raising Hope is finishing early, and Mindy Project will be the next to go once all episodes are done. Bringing Back New Girl and Raising Hope is a guarantee due to NG getting decent ratings and Raising Hopes syndication renewal for a 4th season. If fox does want another comedy block it can do it w/o bring back Mindy. Fox will need to strategize much better to make it work the next time around.

We can just agree to have difference of opinions on this until it is announced whether Mindy Project will indeed be renewed? or Cancelled? If renewed you can say I told you so. lol.. If cancelled I won’t rub it in your face because I don’t wish for a show I don’t watch to fail that is if you are a Mindy fan!?!!!

NBC is making ABC and FOX’s line-up successful by giving Go On and The New Normal a horrible lead-in. These comedies should have rested until The Voice’s comeback. For God’s sake, last year they were NBC’s top-rated comedies and the channel was calling #1 all Tuesdays. They made ABC and FOX’s comedies have their worst ratings. And now what? All vanished for a poorly scheduled line-up. Mindy, Happy Endings and New Girl are recovering, and Go On and The New Normal are falling abruptly. Who could’ve guessed? It will never cease to amaze me what a bad schedule can do to good products…

While it may be true that both series have had some discouraging episodes, these comedies are still gold compared to the others. Yesteday’s episode of The New Normal featured all the ensemble cast and it was absolutely funny. This is what the show should always be. Back to the issue, The New Normal is not a 9.30 show. They’re leaving out a huge portion of audience that they could find at 8 or 8:30. Without a consistent lead-in, and earlier time would be a better time. Within The Voice, TNN should just air before Go On. I’m sure it wouldn’t drop below 2.0 and have 5 millions viewers every week. That’s just a guess, of course, based on last fall figures. Anyway, it’s too late to try that. NBC decided that Perry had more credit than Murphy, so Go On was placed before TNN, and then NBC decided that both comedies shouldn’t rest during Winter. Now they’ve got a huge problem…

The Office is ending. 30 Rock is ending. 1600 Penn, Guys with Kids, Go On and The New Normal are all on the same bubble to rebuild Thursdays next year. Why do I think the latter will be renewed? Here’s why: 1) By May, Go On and TNN will have a better average thanks to the Fall season. 2) Go On and TNN have received mixed to positive critics, while 1600 and GWK have received mixed to negative. 3) Go On and TNN were the “big” tickets of NBC this season, and they will not allow the industry to look down at them. 4) 5) Matthew Perry and Ryan Murphy.

  • I Love TV!

Really glad for New Girl. It’s actually one of the best sitcoms in TV right now!

  • jessica

is it me or all these shows are at the level where the wb was?? i now television has shifted to online and iTunes but still.. wow…

@chris23 “CW needs to promote this show and try to get the word out there. CW premiered 5 new shows and only 1 so far will definitely make it to a sophomore season. Last year only HOD was renewed and the year before nothing moved onto season 2. Also 3 seasons ago only Nikita was renewed. So something needs to give”
Let’s have a short math lesson..
HoD is in its second season, it was the freshmen show that was renewed last year.
Nikita is in its 3rd season, which means.. tada! it was the freshmen show that was renewed 2 years ago, a year before HoD.

There was no season in which the CW didn’t renew any freshmen shows, despite your claim.

As for another claim here that the CW always renew only one freshmen show, TVD and LuX both debuted in the same year and LuX could’ve been in its 4th season today too..

  • lois

Love Carrie diaries it’s funny and sweet!

  • Alex

If Whitney got renewed over the past years, so will The New Normal and Go On. Of that I’m sure. They might not get a full season, but they will stick around. I think NBC is learning the old lesson of “if ain’t broken, don’t fix it”. To leave GO and TNN on their own was a big mistake. So what if they need a lead-in like we need air? At least they had a number one combo. Now they got nothing.

  • forg

Sorry to the fans but Fox cancelling Ben and Kate was the right thing to do, just look at how it helped New Girl

  • iowegian

OK Dan. we get it. You don’t like The Neighbors and think it should and will be cancelled. Now that you have posted it over and over on multiple threads for weeks, can you promise to admit you were wrong over and over again when it gets renewed?

  • Dan

@Chris23 – Repeating the shows means nothing, the marathons over winter may give the shows more exposure but FOX came into the season knowing that they would give their shows more eps, but they didn’t anticipate how horrible the numbers would be. It doesn’t matter how The Mindy Project did, its how the show is doing now, we have to accept that ht numbers at 9:30 for comedies on Tuesdays are all garbage. New Girl is lucky to break 2.0 and it’s taking Mindy Project with it.

I agree on your reasoning but knowing FOX’s history, they can’t build a comedy block with just Raising Hope and New Girl and 2 new comedies again. They tried it with Raising Hope, Teenage Daughter, New Girl, and Breaking In and the 8:30 and 9:30 comedies failed. They tried it this year and while Ben & Kate failed, FOX isn’t ready to throw in the towel with Mindy Project.

Personally I think The Mindy Project is OK but FOX’s relationship with Mindy Kahling and all the retooling helps the show’s chances for renewal. While I wouldn’t be shocked if Mindy is axed I would be surprised. I do know FOX and in a failing season, they will salvage Mindy and The Following.

  • Dan

@iowegian – Thats wrong. I love The Neighbors and I would like it to be renewed. I think it’s improved since the pilot and just because someone says a show will probably be cancelled doesnt mean they hate a show. I love Happy Endings, that show probably wont return while I don’t care for TBBT and I know that show is safe for years. I just see too much of a “Better With You” effect in The Neighbors in its retention out of The Middle. Plus ABC has a lot of comedies in contention for next season so they may not have the room. On FOX or NBC it would be a shoe-in but I The Middle gets a 2.3 and The Neighbors gets below a 2.0 and then Modern Family jumps to 4.4, there’s a weak link.

If Neighbors is renewed I wouldn’t be stunned, but I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprise if ABC gets rid of it in favor of other options.

@Ultima: “CBS is certainly doing what they can to goose the ratings by airing a repeat of NCIS:LA instead ahead of the state of the union (as they did for the debate earlier). I expect they’ll do the off-timeslot airings the final week of the season again as well. :)”

‘NCIS L.A.’ isn’t doing too bad, either. At this point, they might end up finishing at number 4; that is, if ‘Person of Interest’ and the spring telecasts of ‘The Voice’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ don’t catch fire.

CBS wants ‘NCIS’ to beat NBC Sunday Night Football. They’re already the top network now, but with ‘Idol’ going down and NBC having had the top program last year, CBS wants to have THE top dog this year.

  • outlawz

next year i want cbs killing the other network tuesdays to be like this

    08. ncis
    09. new ncis <try la on monday move 5o to other night
    10. vegas 2013(half season) & golden boy (only if peak up for half seaso) if dont and unfogetable do good in the summer then brin it in as (unforgatable summer hit show)

  • Dan

@Alex – I agree, NBC will keep Go On and The New Normal for next season, and if they’re smart, they’ll move it to Thursdays. Both shows wont do as well as they did behind he Voice but likely better than on Tuesdays after Betty White.

  • Barton

I didn’t really get New Girl the first season, but this season has gotten way funnier.
I also like The Mindy Project, and think both shows have an effortless quality in delivering lines. Considering how long it takes to shoot, both shows throw lines out there in an on-the-spot, clever way.
I loved when Zooey was fake-miming a wall to the camera when she was excited about some news.

Ugh. Too many Invalid Data messages.

    Not worth it.
