   Social Security Administration Inspector General: Government Gave 4,317 Aliens 2 Social Security Numbers a Piece

   A report from the Social Security Administration Inspector General (IG) found 4,317 instances where a non-citizen was able to obtain two Social Security numbers, including 542 instances that happened since 2001.

   “We identified 4,317 instances where the Numident record of 2 SSNs assigned to noncitizens contained matching first, middle, and last names; dates and places of birth; gender; and fathers’ and mothers’ names,” the IG reported on Dec. 10, 2012.

   Numident – which stands for Numerical Identification System – is the master file of applications for social security numbers. The IG found that SSA had issued multiple numbers to 4,317 non-citizens from 1981-2011.

   The IG found that the errors occurred because SSA did not cross-check the names of the people applying for an additional Social Security number.

   “In each case, SSA had not cross-referred the records, indicating that SSA either was not aware it assigned two SSNs to the same noncitizen or it believed the number-holders were not actually the same person.”

   The review was initiated after a non-citizen was convicted of defrauding the government out of $55,000 in Social Security and federal housing payments by using two Social Security numbers, the report said. While no further fraud was found, the IG acknowledged that the potential for fraud still existed.

   Ex Obama Regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein Says Obama Wants ‘Second Bill of Rights’

   Mere hours after Breitbart News published an excerpt from an interview with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) in which he speculated that President Barack Obama would “prefer a different kind of constitution,” one with a Bill of Rights based on the South African model, former Obama administration regulatory czar Cass Sunstein published an op-ed making a similar argument: that the president wants a “second Bill of Rights” alongside the existing one.

   Sunstein located the source of Obama’s inspiration in Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s 1944State of the Union address, rather than the South African constitution–though the American academics whose writings inspired South Africa’s ambitious Bill of Rights could well have taken Roosevelt’s proposals as their foundation.

   Roosevelt’s Second Bill of Rights–not a list of constitutional amendments, but policy goals–was as follows:

   In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all regardless of station, race, or creed.

   Among these are:

   The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation;

   The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

   The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

   The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

   The right of every family to a decent home;

   The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

   The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

   The right to a good education.

   All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

   The Soviet Union tried this and look how it worked out. Progressives, like Obama, want the US to be a third world country and are pushing the US in that direction.

   Slimebaugh wants a “unique American culture”–say what? This dinosaur thinker is typical of the right wing GOP and the reason it is fading from the scene. Oh, slimebaugh continues suckering the right and making millions, but his thinking has become anachronistic.

   Medical Device Company to Cut 1,000 Jobs Due to ObamaCare’s Medical Device Tax

   Remember folks how Obama laughed about his health care bill not being a tax?

   Boston Scientific is cutting up to 1,000 more jobs as it deals with a new medical device tax from the U.S. health care overhaul, limited growth prospects in certain markets and pressure to cut prices on its products in other countries.

   Still, the Natick, Mass., company’s shares jumped Tuesday after the maker of pacemakers and heart stents reported fourth-quarter results and a 2013 profit forecast that exceeded Wall Street expectations.

   In a push to trim costs, Boston Scientific Corp. plans to cut 900 to 1,000 jobs this year, which will include layoffs as well as the elimination of unfilled positions. That comes on top of a restructuring plan started in 2011 that included 1,200 to 1,400 planned job cuts. The company employs roughly 24,000 people worldwide, and the additional cuts could amount to as much as 4 percent of the company’s workforce. Boston Scientific hasn’t decided where the additional cuts will be made, said spokesman Steven Campanini

    Federal Judge Rules in Favor of ICE Agents Suing Over Obama’s DREAM Directive (Deferred Action on Deportation)

    A federal judge in Dallas has granted a hearing on an injunction to stop deportation suspensions under an initiative of the Obama administration for certain illegal immigrants between the ages of 16 and 31 years of age.

    Plaintiffs, arguing the policy is illegal, include David A. Engle, a Dallas deportation officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other ICE agents in Texas and other states. The defendants are suing their boss, Janet Napolitano, the head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

    A hearing date has yet to be set.

    The Obama initiative was announced June 15, 2012 as a form of “prosecutorial discretion” that didn’t need legislation from Congress. Already about 154,000 immigrants have been granted approvals, that include processing for a two-year work permit. The program doesn’t provide legal immigration status such as a green card.

    In his opinion Judge Reed O’Connor said “the potential disciplinary action that results from failing to comply ” constitutes a “sufficient injury-in-fact.”

    CUNY Study: Occupy Wall Street Was Disproportionately Rich, Overwhelmingly White

    According to a new study from sociologists at the City University of New York, more than a third of activists in the Occupy movement in New York City had household incomes above $100,000, placing them at the cusp of the top quintile of income distribution in America. Researchers surveyed 729 people who participated in a May 1 rally last year and were involved in the “occupation” of Zuccotti Park in the fall of 2011, and found that they were more affluent, whiter, younger, much more highly educated, and more likely to be male than the average New Yorker.

    Non-Hispanic whites constituted 62 percent of all respondents, though they make up only 33 percent of New York City residents. While only about a third of Americans hold bachelors’ degrees, 76 percent of respondents who had completed their education had a four-year college degree and 39 percent had graduate degrees. Among college graduates, more than a quarter went to top-ranked schools, which might help explain why the majority of graduates under 30 had some student debt. While 10 percent of participants were unemployed, 71 percent were employed in professional occupations. Eight percent were “blue collar.”

    Michele Crentsil, a 23-year-old African-American participant told the researchers, “When people are saying, ‘Occupy Wall Street is a white middle-class thing,’ I can’t really fight them, because it’s not true, but then it’s not necessarily false either.”

    NJ man pleads guilty to steering illegal contributions to Sen. Bob Menendez

    The owner of a New Jersey medical imaging company pleaded guilty Tuesday to making $21,400 in illegal campaign contributions to Democratic New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez between 2005 and 2008.

    Benedetto Bigica, 45, and two of his family members served as “straw contributors” to Menendez, according to northjersey.com, with Bigica’s brother Joseph reimbursing them for their contributions.

    The scheme allowed Joseph Bigica to donate far more than the amount allowed by the Federal Election Campaign Act — a total of $98,600 between 2005 and 2009.

    That brings the total money involved in the Bigica brothers’ crimes to $120,000.
