After a double-shot of The Office tonight (and the series finale of 30 Rock), NBC is premiering new drama Do No Harm, a modern take on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Is there room for another literary-inspired series on the slate at 10PM on Thursdays (I'm looking at you, Elementary), or will viewers pass on this new show? Make your predictions below and let us know what you think in the comments!

It’s going to be a failure just like every other NBC Thursday-shows

    About 2.1

Decent lead-in and NBC’s dramas have been amply sampled this season.
I watched the pilot and thoroughly enjoyed it. It really is a guilty pleasure. And liked even better than Deception.
    Am hoping it does well.

This show is going to flop so hard…

I see this one like Lone Star. I just don’t think that I can like the main character. And there has to be someone to root for or like, even if it is an anti-hero. Some shows deliberately center around an unlikeable lead, but that is the point. You aren’t supposed to like him.

This will try to straddle that line, like Lone Star. It tries to portray a bad person in a sympathetic light, and that just doesn’t work.

  • Lisbeth Slander

It looks truly awful. Selfishly I hope it bombs so that it makes it all the easier for NBC to renew the only good show they have, Parenthood.

  • Cristian

This show looks like garbage, and critics seem to think so too. It will score below 2.0, I hope.

  • Kurt

Could be a fun series. I think a lot of commenters are being overly pessimistic. I’ll say 2.1 to 2.2 with about 5 million viewers.

  • Kurt

*edit* Make that 7 million viewers.

As with SMASH last year, NBC has over-advertised DO NO HARM to the point that people are sick of hearing about it. It has also been available online and on demand, so many who were interested have already seen it. With so much to watch now on Thursdays at 10 (YEAH SUITS!), why watch this tonight. I don’t know who runs NBC’s advertising department, but they do a lousy job. And if you are going to put the first episode online, you need to run two episodes the first night, much like they are belatedly doing with SMASH this year.

You cannot honestly compare this to Lonestar. This is fantasy/excapist fare. The pilot has been available and it’s really a guilty pleasure in a cool way. Lonestar had a different vibe to it and took Cheating/affairs to a whole new level. And yes, am one of those who would watch the show.

Then again, hopes can’t be too high for a slot that had a news magazine averaging mostly around a 1.0 or less.

I don’t know if the preview I saw last year was just a rough cut or what, but it was terrible. The acting was horrific and I couldn’t even tell if it was meant to be a comedy or drama. Before then I was moderately looking forward to this, but i can’t see anything near 2.0 or even above 1.7 considering the heavy competition tonight. I said less than 1.6, although an actual 1.6 may be possible.

NBC should move CF to Thursday 10/9. That is its next Thursday night hit.

  • RG-X

Do No Harm is a creepy version of AWAKE.

This is more like Split Personality – so the guy just needs help.

    Problem solved.

It will start strong and fizzle out.

At least NBC was wise to air 2 episodes of The Office into the premiere. Going with a 1.8.

  • Nerdbot

I think it’s gonna be the poorly reviewed version of Awake (in terms of ratings, of course). I watched the pilot and it’s not a masterpiece but it’s not boring either.

  • DW

i’m going 1.0 doesn’t seem to be on anyone’s radar.

  • Fred

1.6 or lower. NBC is really weak on Thursdays. CBS and ABC’s strong 10:00 dramas and the weak NBC sitcoms as lead in will DO MUCH HARM.

  • John

Well since it’s NBC, and unless it’s The Voice, I hope a 1.5 or higher, I want the show to last.

  • iMac

This looks like a good show – but I’m gonna hold off on watching it until I see if it’s this season’s AWAKE (A very good show…) and survives being a midseason….
