After a double-shot of The Office tonight (and the series finale of 30 Rock), NBC is premiering new drama Do No Harm, a modern take on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Is there room for another literary-inspired series on the slate at 10PM on Thursdays (I'm looking at you, Elementary), or will viewers pass on this new show? Make your predictions below and let us know what you think in the comments!

This show just looks awful…does NBC have ANY good ideas for shows anymore???? Gone are definitely the days of Cheers and Seinfeld along with Hill Street Blues. This might possibly premiere below a 1.0…that is how bad it looks… I think Alf might be better that this garbage and that is saying something…wow.

As noted before, Awake premiered last season with heavy promotion, and against repeat competition, to a meager 2.0. I’m predicting no higher than 1.8 for this, and thats optimistic. I’m actually thinking more like 1.6.

RIP Awake, you were far ahead of your time.

This will do really bad. Why is >3.2 even an option?

    Shark Tank (R): 1.1
    Grey’s Anatomy: 3.0
    Scandal: 2.4

    The Big Bang Theory: 5.6
    Two & a Half Men: 3.9
    Person of Interest: 3.3
    Elementary: 2.3

    The Vampire Diaries: 1.2
    Beauty & the Beast: 0.6

    American Idol: 4.6
    Glee: 2.4

    30 Rock: 1.6
    The Office: 2.0
    Do No Harm: 1.5

    P.S. February sweeps starts tonight.

P.P.S. I wonder what Do No Harm’s FLOP name will be. Do FLOP Harm? Do No FLOP? FLOP No Harm? Ooh, how about Harm No FLOP?? lol

I hope Do No Harm does well… =)

    Do NBC Harm, maybe?

I’m guessing it lands where Chicago Fire/Deception landed with a 2.0, but with a decline that’ll put it on the chopping block. Then again, that’s what I said about Grimm and look where it is now. Who knows?

  • Steven

Looks pretty cool but I can’t miss scandal

  • senor chang

The biggest hurdle it’ll have to overcome is the HUGE boost Elementary will get post-SB.

  • NeNe Leakes

    9.5 22.2 million viewers

watched this tonight, I really enjoyed it!

DNH a 1.7 or 1.8, maybe as high as 2.0. Scandal will hit probably 2.6 or so, with Elementary maybe a 2.3? It’s hard to guess. I don’t think DNH will siphon any of Scandal’s viewers but could eat at some of Elementary’s.

  • networkman

1.8 I think alot of people like the concept of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I’m also excited to see Phylicia Rashad. The Office should at least have a 2.3 so that is a pretty decent lead in for this new drama. It would then lose .5 from The Office.

    Scandal 2.5
    Elementary 2.3
    Do No Harm 1.8

  • HustisHarper

DNH was entertaining despite a few logic leaps such as why the waking craniotomy was scheduled for the evening?

  • HustisHarper

Oh duh…just watched the ending. lol

  • Marlene

This show looks good and actors look like they know what they are doing but NBC has a real problem with getting their new midseason shows to retain viewers and get news viewers Thats what happened to Deception in mean people may say its a copy of Scandal and Revenge but its not midseason premieres are tough especially on NBC now a days.

I think it will get some sampling from the ads. I’ll think the opener will get a 2.2. But based on the pilot’s execution, this will drop fairly quickly. Shame, because nobody should mess with Mama Huxtable, er Phylicia Rashad.

  • BL

Based on early ratings, DNH flopped very badly.

  • senor chang

Uh, a 2.4 HH rating in overnights. That is BAD. I was not expecting this at all.

It might be the worst debut for a network drama in history, depending on how that skew shakes out.

As a matter of comparison, Deception’s prelim overnight rating this week was a 3.0–that shook out to a 1.2 in 18-49. The Firm’s HH rating this time last year was a 2.3–how low will this go?

  • DenverDean

@BL is right. DOA for DNH. Worse than The Firm! NBC should yank immediately and move CF to the prime Thursday spot. If NBC has any hope of getting in on the Thursday dollars, they need one established hit to start with 30Flop gone and TO leaving, they have very little to start with Parks/Community not enough to build a big line-up.

  • senor chang

Retention out of The Office (3.1 HH for the 9:30 edition) was 77%, so maybe the demo won’t be horrible? One can only hope.

You really have to wonder what NBC is going to do about that Thursday 10 slot, though. It’s arguably one of the biggest problems. The only shows that haven’t bombed after ER ended have been 30 Rock (which won the slot at least once, iirc) and Outsourced (which got cancelled but didn’t crap the bed the way Perfect Couples/Paul Reiser did).

Could they slot in Rock Center again there? Slot in more adult comedies to counterprogram against the other two networks? Go with yet another drama?

Maybe the reason everything this month is flopping on the network is simply the fact that NBC spread its resources too thin and launched too many new things at once. Oliver keeps mentioning how the network needs to cut back, and frankly, I think that’s the biggest issue it’ll have to address to get any new show off the ground. Chicago Fire has done extremely well this season–what did they do to support it? What is working for them and how can they replicate that success?
