It appears looking at the ratings, people prefer to laugh at the follies of ignorance rather than pontificate about it.

You got that right.
I don’t blame the new teachers. I blame their lack of preparedness by the curriculum in the schools they attended.

STATES AVERAGE “D+” FOR THEIR TEACHER PREPARATION POLICIES
January 23, 2013 (Washington, DC) — The National Council on Teacher Quality today released its sixth annual State Teacher Policy Yearbook, with a special focus on the state laws, rules and regulations that shape teacher preparation.
Across the 50 states and the District of Columbia, states average a dismal “D+” on teacher preparation policies in 2012, up from a barely passing grade of “D” in 2011. Just four states – Alabama, Florida, Indiana and Tennessee – earned the highest grade of “B-” for their efforts to deliver well-prepared teachers.
Funding
The State Teacher Policy Yearbook was funded by private foundations across the United States, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, The Joyce Foundation and The Walton Family Foundation. NCTQ accepts no funding from the federal government

It is the parents. They are busing them in here . The bussed ones are trouble.
Religious bigotry is still bigotry
Show me how the right wing fringe have taken over the GOP, show it to me in the way they are voting in congress or the way they are opposing bills.
What moral issues is the GOP stuck on? The GOP doesn’t bring up a***tion or God. The liberal press bring it up, then they spin what is said. Because I say I believe that God created man, doesn’t mean I think the earth is only 6000 years old. It doesn’t mean I don’t believe in evolution. Maybe God had a hand in evolution. Evolution is still just a theory after all. The age of things science can prove. The earth is around 4.5 billion years old. Science has also shown that we can’t create life from nothing. The biggest mystery is still how did life begin.
Our you talking about republicans saying its wrong for the government to force employers to provide heath insurance that covers a***tion and birth control? Isn’t it against the employers Freedom of religion to force them to pay for items against their beliefs?
First Amendment = Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
If I’m forced to supply a***tion and birth control, I am not being allowed to exercise my religious believes.
The American people should be sickened by everyone who is beating up on anyone for believing in God. People come to this country to escape religious persecution. However the liberal press is allowed to do it to GOP members on a daily bases, and instead of being outraged you people eat it up.
Liberals are not the party of inclusion, they are not the party of tolerance, they are a party of hypocrites. They laugh at the right for believing in God, but they lead prays after a mass murder, have religious members lead prays in congress to so a support for gun control, have religious leaders pray for the President.
Ghost city of Detroit on the brink of extinction says Pravda
The U.K. Daily Mail adds the story with these sad pictures
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2269966/Blighted-home-says-Detroit-going-bankrupt-Families-flee-leaving-streets-broken-governor-cuts.html
Detroit is leaving the city unable to afford a workforce of more than 10,000 and the surging health and pension costs that go with them and with its retirees. As a result, credit ratings on Detroit’s approximately $8.2 billion of outstanding debt have sunk deeper into junk territory.
Signs of decline are everywhere – in a rising crime rate, streets without lights and block after block of abandoned buildings. The murder rate of one per 1,719 people last year was more than 11 times the rate in New York City. The jobless rate is above 18 percent, more than twice rate for the country as a whole.
Now today I read:
Detroit Parks Are Closing 50 Recreation Areas
D.D., Here is the problem 53% of the students that graduate with an elementary education failed to get into the engineering, math and science programs they wanted to get into.
Education is the easy degrees to get in America. Go to any college party or party and ask the everyday partier what their major is and 90% of the time it’s education. There is a reason why the LSA campus are surrounded with bars, dance clubs and other social businesses. And engineering campus have fast food and computer stores.
Teaching degrees need to be harder to get, when that happens. Our schools will improve.

Certification, smertification…Young adults are NOT going into education and why should they? They are vilified,(Yes, by the highly educated (?) and so intelligent (?) hosts at Fox “News”, ) paid crap, yet hold undergrad and grad degrees, and ohhhhh, how dare they be members of unions and have collective bargaining and golly gee, that awful bennie called ‘health care’. The gall of these teachers and such an easy job too; why anyone can do it…Not.

Isn’t that “daily uk” whatever site you use quite often, the same site that had phony stories regarding Benghazi and election campaign details???
Ah yes same troll news rag as The Sun amoung many other questionable traits….. Question answered!
Nancy/Faith,
This is going to sound harsh but believe me I have great respect for teachers. I live in NJ and the teachers union is very powerful here. There are a few reasons why teachers have gotten some heat here over the past few years:
•. No matter how much is spent on schools it is never enough. Not only can we not keep pace things are getting cut. We have over 600 school districts and nobody wants to consolidate. Anyone who disagrees with a school budget must “hate children”.
•. Teachers sometimes do not understand how difficult things are for others. For example, complaining about the fact that you now have to contribute to your healthcare rings hollow to people who have been doing that for years (and who have been the ones paying for the teacher h/c).
•. In NJ at least teachers are paid well but this is very uneven. A friend of mine who has an MBA makes 100k+ while my aunt who has been teaching for 40 years makes 65k. Being in the right school district is everything.
• There is an incredible amount of nepotism in the industry. It really is who you know, which means the children may not come first.
Teachers have a very difficult job but many people have difficult jobs without tenure. I know this sound harsh since a good teacher can make a huge difference in the life of a child. Most of the issues are not with the teachers themselves but with the “system”.
I don’t know if the right wing fringe has taken over the Republican Party but the left wing fringe has certainly taken over the Democrat Party.
Obama, Pelosi, Clinton (Hillary not Bill) John Kerry, Sherod Brown, Bernie Sanders, these are all hard core left wingers.
The country is with you and it is your game.
I never thought the corrupt, left wing, secular, so-called objective media would ever have this kind of power but they do.
MSNBC doctored a tape to make it look like the gun rights people where heckling a victim of Sandy Hook.
Snarky hard core leftest work in production at that so-called news station.
Geez, and you lefties complain about FOX.
Oh by the way, this is the third time they have been caught doing this in last seven months. If the corrupt, left wing, secular, so-called news media ran stories about this MSNBC would be run out of business.
