American Idol almost on par with The Voice in terms of viewership.

  • NE1

Glad 30 Rock is finally into the ground. It was getting too sad. The only cast members that are still likable are Tina and Jane K.

  • CrimTV

B&TB will be renewed but will move to either Friday or probably Monday

  • Hugh

    WTF happened to BBT!?

Was the last episode really bad, so 3 million people didn’t come back?

  • mia

B&TB will probably be renewed now, unless it drops massively in April, like Secret Circle. I can see it moving to Mondays or Fridays also. If 90210 goes over B&TB i can see it taking its slot.

I like both Scandal and Revenge but revenge sucks this season. All the competition excuses are just grasping. Ratings were slipping before all that.

Revenge was not slipping before that, apart from it’s post premiere drop, and a tenth down/up here and there, Revenge has been pretty stable, and the increased competition is a WORTHY excuse as OUAT and other nets have been dropping because of competition as well, look at these numbers:

These are the current ratings of Revenge for Season 2:

    2.6 (post premiere drop)
    2.0 (up against Golden Globes)
    1.7 (up against CBS Football)

Notice the sudden drop when huge competition is introduced! I love Revenge and it’s ratings aren’t failing, it just has to compete with tough competition!

good for 30 rock I will miss it. TVD was good too

Glee is really performing horribly after American Idol. Its retention is weak, not being able to hold onto at least 50% of AI’s total audience. FOX has no choice but to move the show next season. And when it’s demo numbers settle in between mid to high 1’s, I think it will be time to pull the plug. Its fifth season very well could be its last.

I found Do No Harm to be entertaining. It was able to maintain my interest. But with these pitiful results, it will most likely only last for two more episodes. Because we are all expecting to see an increase in Elementary’s numbers as well. And hopefully Scandal will continue to grow. It will be nice to see two strong dramas going against each other. Both earning high 2’s in demo and able to garner over 10 million viewers.

If you thought TBBT was going to get 20 million viewers against much tougher competition you were being very optimisitic. When you get 20 million viewers against mostly repeats, and little competition that means you have lots of casual viewers that are watching because nothing else is on. The show loses those viewers to other shows as the competition increases. TBBT numbers were expected to fall when the competition increased. These numbers are very healthy for TBBT. Highest ratings for any scripted show on TV, and still the only scripted show to ever beat Idol.

Amanda: “it’s doing awesome in itunes sales as well!”

    Which are completely irrelevant.

“since the poor itunes sales was one of the factors that killed Ringer last season.”

Citation please for this alleged “fact”. iTunes sales are almost totally irrelevant since they are so small compared to ad revenues.

JJA: “Last night’s episode was terrible.”

Actually it was way better than usual.

“1. Better “crimes of the week,” which aren’t so obvious to solve.
–I mean, did anyone NOT realize that the CFO killed the wife?”

True as to that last part – but more procedurals aren’t going to help.

“2. Build on this idea of Vincent helping society’s outcasts.”

Hell, no. Utterly irrelevant and BORING.

“3. Resolve the whole Mirfield threat, and then move on!!”

Hell, and double hell, no! The conspiracy conflict is the ONLY thing worth tuning in to the show for. The police procedurals are boring, and the love story is lame WITHOUT the conspiracy because, as I’ve said a dozen times here, there is nothing keeping these two people apart EXCEPT the conspiracy. If Vincent didn’t have people hunting him, he could turn himself in and get medical help for his condition – even if he might have to answer for some of his actions.

“4. More believable characters and character reactions. – sorry, not buying that Alex couldn’t move on after 10 years.”

You don’t know women! Or men, for that matter. :-)

“5. Time to introduce Vincent’s father and brothers (in flashback).”

Who gives a rat’s butt about his family? Who gives a rat’s butt about HER family? Her sister and father need to go away.

“6. More Tess!! She is a very under-rated character.”

She only exists because the lead character is a cop. She is a supporting character and not a terribly good one. Don’t get me wrong, I like Nina and she’s doing a good job with the character. But the character just isn’t important.

I repeat, the SOLE reason for watching this show is the conspiracy to create mutant soldiers, the coverup of the elimination of same, and the hunt for Vincent. The love story and the inability of the characters to be together is only plausible BECAUSE Vincent is being hunted. Everything else is a side issue and filler. Dragging in ex-girlfriends just drags out the episodes – although I don’t mind hottie Bridget Regan being on the show! :-)

JulieDawn: “you said something postive about BATB.”

When a show makes a move, however slight, to doing it right, I say so. Ditto when it doesn’t.

“I firmly believe the love story is the core, and has a lot more going for it than you see in it”

As I’ve said repeatedly, without the conspiracy, there is NO LOGICAL REASON why the two characters can’t get together. Vincent could turn himself in, get medical help, even if he had to answer for his past actions. The whole thing would resolve itself. The sole reason not to do that is the threat from the conspiracy.

“maybe there are more ‘Beasts’ out there or whatever”

Absolutely, Bring in some more mutated soldiers, some helping Vincent, some hunting him for Muirfield. There’s all sorts of options there that would make the show more exciting than this endless moping over the relationship.

I realize that women swoon over this sort of story line, but remember that the point of the myth and the original TV show was that the two characters could NOT get together because one of them looked like an animal and had to live underground. That doesn’t apply to this show.

Vincent going postal periodically isn’t sufficient reason to keep these two apart. Dragging in ten-year-old ex-girlfriends is just the writers’ effort to gloss that poorly thought out concept over.

man, i feel for revenge. now it’ll come back against the grammys (i say 1.6-2.0) and then a normal week and then OFF AGAIN for 3 weeks. it’s just ridiculous. i just hope it doesn’t totally trap the show into the 1.7-2.0 range and that the march-may episodes go back up.

  • Mickey

Guess I can sagely delete Do No Harm from my DVR.

I meant safely, but I guess it works either way.

  • Ultima

    WTF happened to BBT!?

The last time it aired, American Idol hadn’t premiered yet…

  • Amanda

    @Richard Steven Hack

“As Pedowitz confesses, Ringer “was not performing as well as we had hoped to on the digital online spaces and social media space.”

“Digital distribution is increasingly important to the CW. About 20% of the network’s audience comes from streaming and VOD.”

The fact BATB is doing well in something people have to spend money on, it’s only expected for it to do well on other sources of media as well…

…and I’m right, I just went on Hulu and “On Thin Ice” is listed under “Popular Episodes” and the series itself is listed under “Popular Shows”.

So much for what I said to be completely irrelevant.

  • Amanda

Another thing I forgot to mention, Beauty and The Beast also trended 3 different times Thursday night on Twitter in the USA, with the hash tag #BATB:

    As well in Canada:
