    Considering the amount of scifi/fantasy pilots the CW has picked up for next season gives me hope that Beauty&theBeast will get a second season. The CW should premiere a new companion series at 8 and keep BATB at 9 kind of like what the network did with Arrow/Supernatural. Maybe even rerun BATB over the Summer like they did last year with HoD

  • Katie

    So glad that Person of Interest is doing so well. Second season is doing even better than the first. It rarely ever drops that much either so it seems like everyone that watches makes sure to watch it every single week. It’s such a great intelligent show so I’m happy it’s doing so well.

    So what if B&B did get renewed? The number of viewers hasn’t grown much. I fact, it’s declining again and likely will do so until the show drops to its customary 0.6. That leaves the CW with yet another dead-in-the-water series that seems to be aimed at the babysitter demographic. The other issue is where to schedule it. If “The Originals” is greenlit, it’ll probably take B&B’s place. So, B&B has to be moved. However, moving it to Friday, especially opposite Grimm is a death sentence. Wednesdays are booked. That leaves Monday or Tuesday. Since the CW will probably keep HOD and add some pilots at 9 PM, there isn’t much room there either. So, it’s starting to look like B&B has become just another low rated show that the CW is going to have to cancel if it wants to upgrade its schedule.

    I’m sorry can not get into the 2013 version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’,not even a comparison to Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman’s, Catherine and Vincent, and at least the 1987′s version of Vincent was an actual man-beast, where the 2013′s Vincent is a hunk with a scar on his face.

    “LIKE RON SAID THE SHOWS YOU ROOT FOR ARE FLOPS”

    LOL, none of the shows I’m watching are in danger of cancellation, not even ABC’s HIT drama Revenge.

    “MABY YOU JUST DON’T LIKE SCANDAL BECAUSE THE LEAD ACTRESS IS AFRICAN AMERICAN”

    First of all, it’s MAYBE. Second, I can care less what color Kerry Washington’s skin is, but thanks for showing me how classless Scandal fans really are. :D

    Oh & turn your caps lock off. You sound ridiculous, well more ridiculous than your idiotic claims.

    Wow and wow for POI! Easily the best drama on TV right now. This week’s episode with the dastardly Stanton, was a knockout with emotionally gripping scene for Reese and Carter saying farewell and tense scene for genius Finch saving his friend. This show has it all– good writing, great characters played by strong actors, intriguing food for thought too. A CBS powerhouse for years to come!

  • Maxine

    @Carol, what you said. :) Amen.

    BaTB will certainly be renewed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they hit a .9 in the end of the season. Its a show that will gain an audience given time. The pilot wasn’t great. But its improved and the actors have learned to work together. And I think that will get noticed. POI is doing great, but I think it deserves twice the viewers it has. Its amazing.

    Whatever the CW has going on, BtB is their fourth most successful show. Its certainly not doing worse then Supernatural, and its not going to be cancelled. Good or bad, it is what it is. I just don’t understand why people compare it to the 1980′s show. Its an age old fairy tale. the show with Ron Pearlman was probably the 50′s time it was made into a screen or stage production. Why not compare it to the Disney movie while you are at it? Whast the difference if he is a damaged on the outside or the inside or any other way people want to do it? And anyone that is old enough to remember the old show is outside the 18 to 49 demographic by a long, long shot. I don’t remember it.

  • Nicole

    I wouldnt get to excitied about Beauty and the Beaast.. better shows with the same or better ratings have beeb cancelled so im sure being this show is pretty terrible.. the CW wouldnt hold onto it. That would be plain silly.. but they do some odd things at that network so the skys the limit. Lets see what new thing theyve got cooked up this year. ABCFamily is slowing crushing them to nothing.

  • thesnowleopard

    @Martine
    I think you’re exaggerating just a tiny bit, here. Beauty and the Beast certainly *is* doing worse than Supernatural. Supernatural has been getting 0.9s since it came back from Christmas break. Beauty and the Beast has only managed to get up to 0.7 the past couple of weeks, coming right after the highest-rated show on the network. No matter how you slice it, Supernatural is definitely doing better.

    Will 0.7s be good enough for renewal of a new show? I don’t know. For one thing, Beauty and the Beast needs to keep getting those 0.7s. If it does and the other marginal shows drop, then sure, it has a chance for a second season. But that’s hardly a slamdunk and the show is definitely doing worse than Supernatural.

    The things that people discuss are sometimes insane. What they insinuate is sometimes even more so.

    The discussion over which did better (and, therefore, which should be on top of the other in the chart) between Glee and The Office is silly; the data is there, so you do what you want with it.

    The idea that people are talking about Scandal’s ratings like they wouldn’t be so high if the show didn’t follow the nearly equally-rated Grey’s Anatomy is insane.

    The fact that Beauty and the Beast is one of the most talked about shows here is pretty interesting, considering that it is the lowest rated show of the evening.

    The fact that people are already predicting hoe poor Community is going to do is sad and pathetic, since there is very little way to tell, with the Thursday night television landscape being so different than it was just one month ago. Give the show a chance to perform before you denigrate its performance.

    CBS seems to own Thursdays, no matter what happens on NBC in the coming weeks and no matter how many crazy CW fans incessantly plug their favorite shows.

    I’m sort of bummed about the performance of Do No Harm, if only because it’s almost a fact now that no three dramas can run on ABC, CBS and NBC at the same time without at least one of them bombing. I hope NBC’s execs understand that before just trashing it. Maybe they can move it to one of the slots that is already underperforming; they’ve got plenty of them. Maybe they can even put it with Grimm and market it more like a modern-day Jekyl & HIde, which would work quite easily.

    “Oh & turn your caps lock off. You sound ridiculous, well more ridiculous than your idiotic claims.”

    Anyone who makes regular use of “LOL” and “LMAO” has no place commenting on other people sounding ridiculous.

  • Tom

    @ TerryJackson “The fact that Beauty and the Beast is one of the most talked about shows here is pretty interesting….” That goes for the CW in general. On most days, the daily network ratings page eventually turns into a CW chat fest. I always thought it was because people like a good train wreck. However, after I first posted that thought, another poster commented that shows like B&B draw more interest precisely because they are marginal. Since this is a ratings site, that makes reasonable sense. I doubt if anyone believe that B&B is high art. It does, however, enjoy the distinction of being one of the few CW programs rated at or above a 0.6. In the world of the CW, that makes it fair game for excessive attention.

  • TerryJacksonNYC

    @Tom

    That is fair and I wouldn’t argue the point with you. I guess my main complaint is that people here don’t seem to willing to want to have conversations as much as they seem to want to put each other down. If people can come together because of B&TB, good for them; at least their time is being spent more wisely than, say, calling someone out on their use of CAPS and whether or not LOL or LMAO should fall into the same category (when the answer is clearly no; LOL and LMAO are abbreviations whereas entire sentences that use CAPS are considered, online, at least, to be the equivalent of screaming).

    Sigh. It’s the way that we communicate that makes comments a joy… or a nightmare.

  • Serial Rocker

    @TerryJacksonNYC

    “…calling someone out on their use of CAPS and whether or not LOL or LMAO should fall into the same category (when the answer is clearly no; LOL and LMAO are abbreviations whereas entire sentences that use CAPS are considered, online, at least, to be the equivalent of screaming).”

    Same category? Not what I said at all. The point I was making is that you can’t call anyone ridiculous if you are willing to use the likes of “LOL” in a written conversation. Those sort of abbreviations are fine for kids (…I guess, although I’d prefer they dropped out of usage altogether) but for a supposed adult to use them and then call someone else ridiculous for any reason? Seems a little like the pot and the kettle having a comparative debate about their respective colours to me.

  • Tom

    Guys; There’s an element of competitiveness about what’s said on this site because TVBTN is essentially all about gauging competition between networks. It’s like baseball. Fans follow the stats and argue about their significance. I’d be the first to concede that it could be viewed as as nuts to pick sides regarding whether Beauty and the Beast should be renewed. However, most people who feel that way probably could care less about this site. So, it follows that many contributors to the Comments section are more committed to keeping a show like that around. I’ll bet that more than a few of those are the same couch potatoes who voted ten thousand times each for B&B in the People’s Choice Awards balloting. With a bunch of zanies like that around,it’s inevitable that some of the comments about B&B are likely to be pointed.

    While I don’t believe that people should be cursing each other, I wouldn’t characterize the use of abbreviations as particularly abusive. It’s part of the give and take that contributors seemingly like to engage in. After all, how many different ways can you say “I like/hate B&B”? It’s unlikely that a B&B hater is going to convince any B&B fans to change their mind. So, instead of restating another litany of criticism, it makes a certain sense simply to say “STBY”.

  • Serial Rocker

    @Tom

    Not disagreeing with anything you said there, Tom, but you are missing my point. I don’t think abbreviations such as “LOL” and “LMAO” are abusive in any way, other than perhaps to our intelligence. I don’t like them because they are a poor use of the English language and I think their usage in online conversation makes the user look incredibly immature. My point to rob60990 above was simply that his comments, that more often than not start with a LOL or contain an inane smiley face, usually after some snide comment about a show he doesn’t like, make him look just as ridiculous as anyone using caps lock to “shout” on here.

  • Claudia

    OMG, what the hate on a show you dont like. The only show I watch is BATB, so what? Im not a coach potato like Tom refers to BATB fans (beasties) but hey you like what you like. I dont spill hate or compete with other shows, I make sure to watch and invite other people to give it a try, thats what civilized people do. Dont go on trashing a show or their fans because you dont like it. Its uncalled for, just turn the channel and above all respect for ohers. Way to go BATB!!!!

  • Serial Rocker

    @Claudia

    Not much of a fan of BatB (tried the first six episodes, it didn’t hook me enough) but totally agree with you regardless. Just don’t get the need to put down what other people enjoy. Watch what you like and leave others to do the same.
