Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @ Holly

Did the success of The 40 Year Old Virgin help The Office?

  • Joseph

    @ Ultima,

Thanks for playing along with fan excuse bingo. Resorting to insults makes you look very petty.

  • jT

@holly kerry and jamie foxx were the only ones really promoting the movie everywhere.

  • Marlene

Do no Harm numbers show that the shows aren’t really the problem it may he the Network NBC ? I hope they see that just like do no harm Deceptions numbers may not be all the shows fault but the network people hate NBC lol

  • JacobYates

    @bill gorman
You said Elementary was down 1 tenth but it was down by 2 tenths.

  • Geraint (Wales)

The two week break hurt The Big Bang Theory it lost the momentum that it had built, but it still beat crap idol :)

  • jT

@chrisss YUP, the 40 year old virgin helped.

  • Chuck T

Do No Harm is dead on arrival. I tried watching it and turned it off within twenty minutes.

  • Ultima

Has a minor movie appearance, or even a lead role in a movie, by a TV actor ever dramatically improved their show’s ratings?

Sure. Steve Carrel in The 40 Year Old Virgin and The Office.

  • chris23

My guesses were hit and miss. BBT scored a 5.4(my guess 5.9) Dead on about Two Men and Person of Interest. Elementary i said 2.3 so only .1 off.

Cw did what i thought as well. I even gave a .7 for beauty lol.. American Idol I said would average a 5.0 so a little optimistic on my end w/ both bbt and AI!

Glee really needs to move back to Tuesdays it has a loyal following but a waste at 9. Fox should consider putting 2 of its current comedies behind American Idol. Since Mindy and New Girl have the most eps left that would be good. Put glee at 8 and finish off raising hope. I know this highly unlikely but who knows Mindy might benefit from an AI leadin?!!

I said 30R would get a 1.8 so it did good considering. A little high about Office giving it a 2.2. I didn’t know what to give Do No Harm I know it is getting bad reviews though. I gave it the benefit of the doubt though and BOY was I ever so wrong about a show. I guess it didn’t get the 1.9-2.1 I thought that the Special finale and office eps leading into the premiere would give it better numbers.

ABC pretty much predictable I guessed 1.2 for Shark Tank a little high on GA w/ 3.0 and Impressed w/scandal at 2.7 almost catching greys in demo and viewers.. To think that Scandal was only getting 8 million viewers total w/dvr included at the beginning of the season and now it is getting 8 million plus live. Good for Scandal even though I don’t watch it.

  • Wright

I hope airing after the super bowl helps Elementary because I really love that show. I could care less about Scandal.

  • Timmy G

BATB’s renewal prospects seem to improve every week. Still will end up on Friday though, I can’t possibly image the CW using it to launch a new show, but I guess you never know…

Here’s hoping Cult is a surprise success.

And good way to go out 30 Rock.

  • Steve-A

And even if Django helped Scandal, that’s still something that’s rare in TV. Mean Girls and Baby Mama didn’t help 30 Rock or Parks. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer didn’t help Moesha, stop trying to downplay Scandal’s success. It’s on pace to become ABC’s highest rated drama. Haters will just have to deal.

  • Jane

Okay, fine, Django helped Scandal but people are sticking around so clearly the show is retaining the new viewers. What’s the big deal?

  • Holly

So. Does anyone really pay attention to movie promo stuff? And how was Kerry promoting a movie so dramatically more effective than the scores of actors doing the exact same things to promote their TV shows?

  • BigFlop

Ron, jT didn’t insult anybody. YOU are agressive. Stop watching agressive show, please.

  • MichaelChickless

When is Rob gonna come in here and tell us that Grey’s ratings are actually better than POI because Grey’s is in its 17th season?

  • mmel

    @ JT
You may not have known about Kerry Washington before Django, but a lot of people knew her. Also I don’t understand why all the anger and the excuses about scandal doing well? I have told you guys over and over again once you watch Scandal you get hooked.

  • jT

@steve a Mean Girls and Baby Mama were before
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer actually did help

  • Ultima

Thanks for playing along with Fan Excuse Bingo.

You think comparing one random episode of each show is meaningful in some way and I’m the one playing Fan Excuse Bingo?

Resorting to insults makes you look very petty.

Not really. Your argument is asinine.
