Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Hey people

Do I even need to say it? SCANDAL…. :D

Come on. I can’t wait to see what REVENGE does now this Sunday but next.

  • Nik

    Jon292992:
“I dont understand. How has Scandal’s ratings managed to go UP? Last season and start of this season it was only about 2.0. Why are there now 0.7 MORE demo people watching than before? It makes no sense because Scandal is not goty good buzz”

What? Scandal went up because of all of the publicity, media buzz, and the fact that the cast promotes heavily via social media (notice how all of these shows are doing live tweets now?). Plus, the whole presidential assassination storyline has drawn people in and now they’ve gone back and gotten acquainted with old eps.

  • hammard

Fox and CBS: Down but still fine.

ABC: Scandal is still doing well enough

NBC isn’t having much luck at the moment, after all the great triumphing in the fall.

CW: Vampire Diaries is still up on last year. Beauty and The Beast is currently mirroring Secret Circle. We’ll have to see if they can keep up into April or if they’ll fall after Daylight savings again.

I bet if Do No Harm would have premiered on CBS it would have been at a 2.5 minimum. It was a good show and keeps your attention. When you compare the quality of a show like Person Of Interest to Do No Harm it just baffles the mind how one can have such higher ratings that the other.

  • John A

Can we feast on the half hours?

  • Jon292992

Ok, I understand now. Scandal is only rating better than before because the lead actress is in Django Unchained. So its not because Scandals quality the show is getting more viewers but just because of movie which is popular atm. This suggests to me that Scandals high ratings are only temporary and that it is not destined to become ABCS next big drama

  • leonard

    Still shocked with Scandal’s numbers.

  • Can’t remember

LOL @ Jeff(Canada), I have to admit I love it when even bad scripted beats reality. Could this spell the beginning of the end for the voyeur era…alas doubtful.

  • Dan

Probably the best Greys retention in years frum Scandal.

  • PurpleDrasi

I’d like to think that a little bit of TBBT drop was due to 30 Rock. Just let me have my dilusions please.

As for for Do No Harm, it should have taken its own advice. It sure harmed the heck out of NBC’s ratings.

  • Jr

Why is Glee listed BELOW The Office?

maybe it would adjusted down like last week

  • Oliver

To put Idol in context, Thursday week 3 last season got 5.5.

So Idol Thursday has only dropped 5% season-to-season, which is lower than broadcast erosion as a whole. Fox will be happy.

  • mediabeast

Do No Harm. Question: Is that the lowest mid-season launch of a network drama of all time?

  • Kelly

I guess some people listened to Tina Fey, plus I expected Big Bang to be down a bit against Idol.

  • Shepherd

    @Oliver

I can’t see DNH getting pulled till after episode 3. That being said, I have no idea if NB has anything to replace it with. lol at DNH.

  • gerry

awesome showing for scandal! its keeping its full lead in at this point. if the numbers keep up, they could eventually use it to tentpole thursday when the net decides to move/end greys.

happy to see TBBT dominating over AI, but i’m curious to see the jump AI got at the half hour.

nice even week for cw, though i am curious to see how BatB would hold up w/out the lead in.

nice number for the 30 rock final. DNH is DOA.

  • Philipp

What happened to Glee? It did so well last week and now it’s back to the season-4-rating-weaknes.

  • Jon292992

I pray to God that Elementary gets a HUGE rating this Sunday and then from then on, Elemntary ends up winning on Thursdays every week at 10pm beating Scandal. COME ON ELEMENTARY!!!

  • Percysowner

    @sO303
good to see tvd and batb hold up :) hopefully they don’t adjust down…maybe beauty can come back next year with 0.7?s…

I think it should come back with these ratings. Only Arrow, TVD and SPN are doing better IIR, so B&TB should be okay, baring unexpected big drops.

  • Petar Ivanov

Thursday is GOLD MINE for TV BY THE NUMBERS too. Expect record comments and posts from weeks even months in this site. And all other tv sites. Networks are crazy to put all good shows on thursdays.

I read somewhere that hollywood movie studios want best shows on thursday for better box office. Can Bill or someone else from TV by the numbers please say is that information true@ Thanks.
