Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

glee is already negotiating for its next TWO seasons. Look it up.

Thats empirical fact from producers and FOX.

    Two seasons. Yes. Thats right.

I expect Glee and The Following mondays next season. Bones back to thursdays? It better counter programming against greys

American Idol did exactly what I expected it to do in its time slot. Those are still solid numbers against such a force in the TBBT. Its better then anything FOX could ever put there.

I get to give big props againt to SCANDEL, this probably has to be the best retention of any show after Grey’s. Honestly the show isn’t dropping which means those added viewers have stayed with the show. IMO ABC has a hot show. Its a shoo in for a third season renewel. Anyone agree Scandel will get renewed and IMO they should move up Greys to 8pm and Scandel to 9pm next season. Scandel should be groomed to be Grey’s successor in this timeslot.

Scandal is not inconsistent it’s called patience and actually promoting the show.ABC showed how to stick by a show and it’s clearly worked! Yes Django helped but even before the movie we were pullin in good numbers. Scandal is a great show with exceptional writing! Deserves the success it’s been getting

  • Serial Rocker

Great numbers for both Vampire Diaries and Person of Interest. Nice to know two out of three of my Thursday shows are doing really well for themselves, and deservedly so.

As for the third, I’d like to see Elementary doing a little better. It was easily my favourite new network show of 2012, in fact only surpassed by Longmire as my favourite new show of 2012 altogether. Still, 2.2 is hardly terrible and it’s now reasonably steady. I’m not worried about its renewal prospects.

What are we going with? Do Flop Harm?

  • Daw Johnson

Scandal proved itself creatively. I don’t know much about the show, but the whole “who shot the president” or whatever deal seemed to spark a ton of interest.

If the creative is strong, it is not unfathomable for viewers to suddenly discover the show.

    @ Amanda

There’s no too much “a” about Do Not Harm flop ?

  • WoWza

Do No Harm is the farthest from an original premise. How do they expect something so not novel to do well?

    I guessed a 1.0 for the premiere . I was wrong. Barely

  • MattD

was kinda hoping for a Jon Hamm cameo during the 30R finale..
    PoI still dominating its hour..splendid!

  • Rocky

Wow! POI … the man in the suit :) What an incredible mid-season finale!

@jon 292992…i think scandal has gotten huge buzz since the season premiered…i’ve heard all kind of positives about the show from viewers and critics in the last few months and more commercials are being aired… i’ve been tempted to watch, but haven’t yet, even though i had any interest zero interest in the show at all in the first season…

  • Max

SCANDAL is finally being recognized by both ABC and viewers as the real guilty pleasure water cooler show. No more REVENGE. Thankfully.

And I’m glad to see so much of TVBTN recognizing it too.

  • alexis

But Django Unchained isn’t really a box office hit. Is Kerry Washington really famous? P.S. I don’t watch the film and the show.

  • Billy

Idol met the new Death Star last night in TBBT:

    In its half hour :

    TBBT 17.51 million 5.3 demo
    Idol 12.84 million 4.1 demo

    TBBT crushed Idol !

  • John A

Isnt DNH from Ringer wrigters? No wonder it bombed.

  • JustToClarify

“…premiere of Do No Harm flopped hard with a a 0.9, which is the lowest-rated in-season premiere of any any 4-network”

Amanda, please start proof-reading your articles before publishing them. The mistakes are never that bad but there’s always multiple grammar and punctuation mistakes and it really damages the site’s brand.

  • steven

Do no Harm has been harmed badly.

  • Shepherd

“Wow, I dont understand how Scandal is getting a 2.7. Last season and at the start of this season, it was getting about 2.0, sometimes lower. So why all of a sudden has its ratings gone up 0.7????? The ratings are inconsistent and nor reliable, this cant be right surely.”

1st, how many times are you going to post the same comment? 2nd, scandal has been consistent this season; consistently gaining viewers and demo points.

  • BigBrotherFan

Why in the weird would fox risk putting it’s brightest new drama with a dying show that is losing a ton of fews season by season? Glee was a FLASH IN THE PAN and it will continue to sink. Period. Fox will NEVER risk the following with Glee PLUS there is almost 0 crossover audience there.
