Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • CrimTV

For historical records the VAMPIRE DIARIES episode that aired on February 2, 2012 (around this time last year) scored a 1.2, so TVD is up which is a great achievement.

I think Scandal has risen because of the Grey’s lead in, and people had time over the summer to catch up. I would be interested in seeing what it does without Grey’s. However, I do not care either way. I’ve always liked Grey’s and PP but I don’t think I can pick up another Rhimes show because she always disappoints in some way. I have heard that Scandal is good though so maybe someday, even though I am not a big fan of the lead actress. And on a side note, Max is really unstable.

@Wow! POI … the man in the suit

    as i said weeks ago:
John Reese is bigger and better than James Bond. He is Reese, Mr. Reese. Really best scripted and acted crime drama.

  • Joe Daniels

30 Rock’s series finale sucked in viewers.

  • Glover

OMG Scandal is huge. I’m sure it will receive lots of promotion for its third season and will not disappoint like Flopenge did this year.

  • BigFlop

Scandal is the most promoted show, but no hit high
    Greys, flop week after week
POI the best show on Thursdays
    TBBT (overrated) flop

  • eridapo

Good for Scandal, but lets be honest Scandal is attracting and keeping the Greys audience. Would the show do as well as it has recently without Greys?

  • American

    And TBBT reigned over Idol…:)

  • Jon292992

If Scandal is riding high currently based on the ‘Who Shot the President’ storyline, I guess this means once this storyline ends, the interest in the show will die down. It sounds like the show doesnt have many hardcore fans (maybe about 2.0 are loyal fans), the rest are just people watching because of one storyline. Once that storyline ends, Scandal will maybe fall back down to 2.0 and Elementary will be beating it.

  • jT

@alexis django is a hit and it has great buzz and controversy around it.

  • Olka

Beauty and The Beast might be renewed.
    Whaat?

  • Petar Ivanov

7 pages for 15 minutes. Madness. TOO MANY GREAT SHOWS ON THURSDAY guys. Hope networks change that next season. Tuesday and even wednesday at least at 8 is wide open door.

  • Californiadgd

Still great for TBBT and very good for Scandal!
    Congrats!
I expect GA to adjust up in the finals.

Next season GA at 8, Scandal at 9 and new show at 10…book it!

  • Alan

Poor NBC, pulling CW numbers, that’s not a good sign.

  • atlanta

Altho no fan of Idol, you are still comparing an hour show against a half hour show (TBBT) not a level playing field. I agree that an hour of BBT would prolly hold up, but at the very least combine BBT & 2.5 men before touting how wonderful BBT is.

  • Tea

Still going strong for Greys 2.8 is very good when you have POI back, but I think that greys will be adjustment up and POI adjustment down

  • Vcoolwater

Good for 30 rock. I am happy that it went out on a high note.

With 90210 rumored to be cancelled. I think Beatuy and The Beast will be renewed another season if keep these ratings for the rest of the season. For some strange reason CW execs really like the show. Plus the fact the show already has a small loyal following will help it.

  • jT

look at scandal ratings before the django press tour which started in December
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Scandal_episodes

  • Mike

Fox almost tied CBS in the 18-19 rating. Beat every network in the 18-34, FOX shows are impressive, next season FOX will be the top rated network

  • Lukes

Chain effect: BBT comes back, steals audience from Idol (but not enough to come back to previous numbers), Idol falls, Glee falls.
