Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    @Oliver
Thursday 8pm is the most competitive timeslot on television.

I agree, BUT thursday is the most competitive DAY on television is even more scary. If you compare thursday shows with tuesday and you see what a mess is tuesday.

Scandal did great!! Person of Interest has finally top Grey fair and square (no adjustments will reverse it). It sucks that Grey is at a 2.8, the same demo Scandal hit two episodes back. Either way, Scandal clearly is doing great and I’m so excited that it is keeping the steam it picked up from the previous episodes. ABC has been doing a lot of press and this was the best episode yet, so I’m sure those people will stick around.

Do No Harm did horrible though. I mean it didn’t even crack a 1.0. At least Deception was at a 2.0 (or 1.9) when it premiered. Do No Harm is going to get pulled right away, that is horrible for a comedy but absolutely unacceptable for a drama–no way is it staying on air with those numbers. Rock Center was getting better number than that!

Elementary did bad–sorry to say it. A 2.2 behind a 3.2 show and a night that tops all other hours is not good and clearly Do No Harm cut into their demo a little but also they showed just how bad they might need the Superbowl slot. This show is doing good for a 10pm show but skating by compared to other CBS shows.

Big Bang took a little tumble and American Idol dipped!

Glee is doing average numbers right now and I seriously expect it to be below a 2.0 soon

It certainly is doing harm…to NBC’s reputation

No, No, NBC is doing that all by themselves ;)

Glad Big Bang Theory beat the snot out of Idol =)

  • BrieK

On another note, POI beat Grey’s handily. I’m very excited about that. Do No Harm suffered from cheesy promos. Maybe word-of-mouth will help it grow? I am thinking of watching it On Demand just from reading the comments.

POI show that is true new broadcast hit. Best scripted and acted crime drama. But no standart CBS cop show! Much more unique, creative and entertaining with a lot of humour!

What CBS must do now to make POI drama beast is heavy and properly advertising during super bowl and grammys. Jonathan Nolan will make his debut as director on POI episode “Relevance” – February 21, 2013 and this is Sarah Shahi series debut too. Sarah Shahi role sound like future POI spin-off so CBS have a lot in stake here.(more money and one more drama hit) POI is hot and fresh so better chance for successful spin-off.

  • Sammy

Happy to see POI manintain it’s momentum even after a 3 weeks hiatus.

A good show is a good show indeed!

  • John A

Meant to Say Fantastic For TVD.

  • Once & Again

OK so Scandal has been having great ratings in the past weeks. What i wonder if it can hold to these numbers with out a Grey’s lead in, if it can then ABC should consider moving it next season to a different night. like Tuesday.

    08:00 Dancing With The Stars
    09:00 Scandal
    10:00 New Drama

Or just keep it on Thursday and do this:

    08:00 Bastards (new)
    09:00 Grey’s Anatomy
    10:00 Scandal

  • Holly

Scandal’s growth is really impressive and it looks to be holding. A bump for a few episodes with a big storyline is one thing, but 5 episodes in a row is an actual trend. The word of mouth on this has made quite a bit of difference. I think it struggled initially because a lot of people expected it to be just another variation of Grey’s Anatomy.

  • Billy

    @Petar Ivanov

I would hardly call Thursday at 8:00 competitive. TBBT owns the time slot. It beat Idol by a whole lot and nothing else is competitive with TBBT at all.

  • BxActor

DO NOT HARM !!! OMG ….. bwaahaaaaa

    0_o

  • Billy

ABC should groom Scandal to take over for GA when it retires.

    POI is doing great.

  • BigBrotherFan

Thats right…The DO NO HARM numbers and the expected BOMB SMASH numbers (honestly, I’ll go with a 1.1 for the premire of SMASH) only mean better hope for DECEPTION to air out it’s episode order.

  • kbmv

American Idol is 2 hours. Big bang is only half hour. Of course it’s so much easier for big bang to get high ratings. Still Idol brought Big bang’s ratings down a full point.

  • jT

Scandal Last show before django was Scandal (10:02-11PM) 2.2/6 6.64
first show after the django pro tour started 2.5 7 7.39

First show after django was released in theaters 2.8 8 8.37

how can you django didn’t help?

  • OutOfSync

@Petar Ivanov “TOO MANY GREAT SHOWS ON THURSDAY guys. Hope networks change that next season.”

I do too, I hope the networks put too many great shows on EVERY night!

  • Roco

Stop with the Scandal hate, obviously there are some haters amoug us who likes to knock on a show that is going strong. Scandal is finding their audiences and not because of a movie, ppl are finding it intriguing and a guilty pleasure. That being said they are sticking by it..

  • Don

Do No Harm, Do No Ratings.

  • Tea

Greys is on there’s 9 season and are ABC best tv ranking show and still doing great. POI and Scandal are on season 2 and are still TV shows that people are interesting about to find out what it about, Greys in there’s season 2 hade good ranking as well and still has it.

  • Jackson

have any of you even seen Django? yes the movie is a box office hit but Kerry has a very small role and isnt featured in the promos or trailers etc. she had no oscar buzz for the performance.
so the success of Django (IMO) has nothing to do with SCANDAL taking off the way it has.
its just a great addictive show that people have started watching. ABC did an amazing job with promo, great tv spots, that amazing 2 min promo that aired during the AMAs, amazing facebook and social media promo. hats off!
