via press release:
ABC ran in a virtual tie for first place on Friday night in Adults 18-49 with CBS (pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point and tied in audience share), while leading NBC’s original line up on the night by 67%. ABC’s Shark Tank finished as the #1 TV show of the night in Adults 18-49.
From 8-9pm among Adults 18-49, ABC’s Last Man Standing and Malibu Country outdelivered Fox’s Kitchen Nightmares by 20% and the first hour of NBC’s NAACP Awards by 50%.
Returning to original for the first time in 3 weeks, ABC’s Shark Tank built on its lead-in by 55% to win the 9 o’clock hour in Adults 18-49, with a 27% advantage over CBS’ CSI: NY.
ABC’s 20/20 ranked #1 during the 10 o’clock hour among Adults 18-49. Head to head from 10-11pm, the ABC newsmagazine beat out NBC’s competing Dateline by strong margins in Total Viewers (+16%), Adults 25-54 (+40%) and Adults 18-49 (+36%). 20/20 featured reports on the kids of celebrities. Building by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+13%) Adults 25-54 (+17%), 20/20 posted its highest ratings since December 14, 2012 on both measures.

Okay, ABC. So it’s a “virtual tie” when you’re a tenth below CBS, but when you’re a tenth above them, you’re the “dominant Thursday network”? Lol.
except, of course, they didn’t actually win the night. They also neglect to mention that ST is merely tied for first with UB, and the same for 20/20 and BB. Why does ABC distort it so laughably?
“Okay, ABC. So it’s a “virtual tie” when you’re a tenth below CBS, but when you’re a tenth above them, you’re the “dominant Thursday network”? Lol.”
A three-tenths win makes them the most successful network ever and is a sign all the other nets should shut down for good.
“Why does ABC distort it so laughably?”
Because they can. And few enough people read these press releases in the first place for anyone to care.
The operative word is “virtual” which usually means someone else was ahead of them.
The guys who write ABC press releases should go into comedy.
Four words: Put Grimm back on.
How can ABC be disappointed in its Friday night ratings with the Friday night comedies when ABC is holding its own? MC and LMS are hits for ABC and have more than held their own with Friday night viewers. Let”s face it. Friday night is TGIF and not too many people stay home and watch tv. Both comedies are highly blogged about, very favorably, and if given a chance, will become hits for ABC.
ABC’s unscripted shows on Friday are very profitable. Makes me wonder if they should just ditch the more expesive sitcoms and air another hour reality. SHARK TANK, PRIME TIME-WHAT WOULD YOU DO? and 20/20 make a good lineup.
I don’t know if I’d categorize MC as a hit- down to a possible 1.0 isn’t that grand for a sxripted program.
