Happy Groundhog's Day! I was going to take Super Bowl weekend off from updating this list, but with several renewals announced over the last week, I've updated the list.
For those too lazy to scroll down, BBCA's Ripper Street was renewed for an 8 episode second season, Cinemax's Banshee was renewed for a second season.
Showtime renewed its trio of Sunday night shows with House of Lies getting a third season order, Shameless getting renewed for a fourth season and Californication getting the nod for a 7th season.
Notes:
- Kids shows and Adult Swim shows are not on the list below
- I've seen some squawking about shows on the list below that are owned/created by networks/studios outside of the United States. For purposes of this list, which focuses on U.S. cable networks, I'm only focused on where the shows air here in U.S.
- Shows from overseas like Downton Abbey & Sherlock that air on PBS in the U.S. are not in the list below (PBS is not a cable network), though ITV has renewed Downton Abbey for a 4th season in the UK which will ultimately air in the states.
- Despite some current inconsistencies in the table below, I do not intend to track episode orders or return dates specifically in this table at this time. The primary goal of the table is: what's been renewed, what's been canceled, and what shows fates haven't been decided yet.
Last Updated February 7, 2013
Most of the shows on the list have statuses - if there isn't a status that just means there has been no announcement at the time of the most recent update (see date at top of post and/or above the table below).

Kroll Show renewed, bro.
Why is Hung on the list? It was canceled in 2011
@Common Anomaly oops, I thought I had excluded all sketch shows (I meant to) and didn’t even realize I had that on the list. Will update.
@Daniel: to annoy you and your ilk, of course!
My predictions-
Bunheads: On the Bubble
The Lying Game: Likely Renewal
Switched at Birth: Certain Renewal
The Americans: Too Soon to Tell
Anger Management: On the Bubble
Archer: Certain Renewal
Justified: Certain Renewal
Legit: Likely Cancellation
Being Human: Likely Renewal
Cougar Town: Likely Renewal
Dallas: On the Bubble
Happily Divorced: Likely Renewal
Hot in Cleveland: Certain Renewal
I wish Merlin could have been saved such a wonderful show that the whole family can watch.
FX already ordered 90 episodes of Anger Management. That won’t change. Cancelation isn’t an option.
”FX has the option in their deal for 90 episodes to bury the show if it’s doing poorly.”
Someone wrote this last week but I don’t know if it’s really true.
@brent
Considering the show is being filmed over 2 years I doubt it’l have a cut off point so soon.
Personally I think FX will play Poker with this show, they may have a bad hand at the moment but it’l eventually pay off. It’s entirely likely if things go downhill further that FX will put Season 3 on a new day, but won’t stop production of it.
What about Whitechapel on BBC? I do not see it on your list at all is it already canceled?
I agree that Agr Mgt Numbers are bad but it will do well in syndication. New eps get a 0.6 but it repeated with a 0.5 this week.
@Debsafan
Merlin was not cancelled, they show runners wanted to end it. The series was always meant to be only for 5 years and they told the story they wanted to tell. The actors wanted to move on to different things.
Banshee is frickin’ awesome! They started out last night’s episode with the ex-con turned sheriff trying to steal a Modigliani from the state museum, getting caught in a man trap room, having his black transvestite hacker buddy bail him out (while beating up rednecks in a cafe), a mad chase by the real cops until his ex-girlfriend (married to the town’s DA) manages to pick him up in her car wearing lingerie and bare-footed (she just rolled out of bed after screwing her husband – unsatisfied) and drive him to safety.
And that was just the first ten minutes!
This show is by the True Blood creators and it’s insane.
As an example, the sheriff killed some redneck in an earlier episode and now the guy’s ex-wife is banging him while the rest of the redneck family is trying to kill him.
If you get Cinemax or have access to downloads, get this show! It’s awesome.
Oh, great… No doubt the word “transvestite” caused my post to end up in the spam trap.
And I forgot to save it…
Sigh…
I HATE that goddamn spam trap!
FX is not going to shut production down short of the show’s 100 episodes. They ordered it, and they will produce 90 eps over 2 years. Anger Management was always meant to be a syndication show.
What about Worlds wildest police videos on spike?
@Dan
Boom! correct. FX will have the honor of saying we’ve got Charlie Sheen on our network for years to come. I still believe this show has an audience, it’s just in a unique position that it won’t be canceled with these numbers, it has many chances at success on FX and as long as it gets the required numbers, I don’t see why it can’t go beyond 100 episodes. Certainly FX would likely take it 1 season at a time after that mind you.
Curb Your Enthusiasm has had 10 seasons.
Correction – Curb Your Enthusiasm has had 8 seasons – apologies.
@Chris
This list doesn’t include unscripted shows.
Excellent for “Ripper Street”!!! Now if “the Following” just develops a following, thats the new shows I like.
