Happy Groundhog's Day! I was going to take Super Bowl weekend off from updating this list, but with several renewals announced over the last week, I've updated the list.

For those too lazy to scroll down, BBCA's Ripper Street was renewed for an 8 episode second season, Cinemax's Banshee was renewed for a second season.

Showtime renewed its trio of Sunday night shows with House of Lies getting a third season order, Shameless getting renewed for a fourth season and Californication getting the nod for a 7th season.

Notes:

  • Kids shows and Adult Swim shows are not on the list below
  • I've seen some squawking about shows on the list below that are owned/created by networks/studios outside of the United States. For purposes of this list, which focuses on U.S. cable networks, I'm only focused on where the shows air here in U.S.
  • Shows from overseas like Downton Abbey & Sherlock that air on PBS in the U.S. are not in the list below (PBS is not a cable network), though ITV has renewed Downton Abbey for a 4th season in the UK which will ultimately air in the states.
  • Despite some current inconsistencies in the table below, I do not intend to track episode orders or return dates specifically in this table at this time. The primary goal of the table is: what's been renewed, what's been canceled, and what shows fates haven't been decided yet.

Last Updated February 7, 2013

Most of the shows on the list have statuses - if there isn't a status that just means there has been no announcement at the time of the most recent update (see date at top of post and/or above the table below).

Thanks, guys, for retrieving my post!

Curb Your Enthusiasm is so old it lost its first Comedy Series Emmy to Friends in 2002. Everybody Loves Raymond, Sex and the City, and Will & Grace were the other nominees. It missed being nominated with Frasier (and Malcolm in the Middle) by only 1 year.

That’s not to say the show isn’t great. It always has been!

  • simsalabim

Banshee, really? Worst show with the worst main actor EVER!

  • Silvio

    Banshee is must-see TV.
Cause it’s “So Bad, It’s Good” kind of a show.

Underemployed is canceled. No official announcement … but MTV burned off remaining episodes on Saturdays … you can stick a fork in it.

  • Chris

I hope Bunheads/The lying game get picked up for 1 more season..

    I love both shows :) :)

  • BxActor

    Great I love Ripper Street

  • Kevin

Again you’ve left off BATES MOTEL for A&E season one, 10 episodes

  • enjoy cable more than network tv

I enjoy Banshee, game of thrones, sparticus, homeland, Dexter, stike back, magic city, hunted(wasn’t bad), and probably missing a few others. It’s great being able to see all these shows every week with no interuptions. Network shows take way too many weeks off between episodes. On network, half the shows were reruns and only in Jan…

simsalabim: “Banshee, really? Worst show with the worst main actor EVER!”

Then you must hate True Blood because it’s by the same people. Which of course means your opinion is dismissed.

And the lead actor is perfectly good – it’s obviously the character you don’t like. People who can’t tell the difference between a bad actor and a character they don’t like have no business uttering opinions about the quality of a show.

And I suppose you LOVE his whacked out hacker buddy! :-)

Silvio: “Banshee is must-see TV. Cause it’s “So Bad, It’s Good” kind of a show.”

    Like True Blood.

It’s not like I haven’t been clear that the show is definitely “over the top”! The producers aren’t afraid to through everything and anything under the bus. They’ve said so in a behind the scenes video I saw at the Web site. They’ve put in enough action for four seasons in the first four episodes.

I was looking for something to watch last Monday and I happened upon Continuum. I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t generally watch the Syfy channel, but I really liked this show and I will be watching it from now on.

  • Richard Steven Hack

Gerei: Continuum is decent despite the time travel premise – and not just because Rachel Nichols is hot. :-) I’m looking forward to its second season return.

  • Pat McGroin

Legit is actually a fantastic show if you watch a few episodes. Took some time to find its flow, but very entertaining thus far. Hope word of mouth pushes it towards a seconds season…

  • SobetonNYC

Person asking about Whitechapel, it will have 6 episodes later this year.

  • TimsDale4ever

SHO has some jam-up series — SHAMELESS, NURSE JACKIE, WEB THERAPY, and THE BIG C. Too early for BIG C to be ending though.
