Why is the NAACP needed. This organization with so many others creates the racisim they strive to end. When you have 1 organization representing a color, a gender or any other single entity it does more harm than good. Do I see a White Organization? But its okay to have a Color Organziation, a Spanish Organization, a Asian American Organization? WHY…..

  • Lydia

It was a great show. Wonderful to see legends Diane Carroll, Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier on stage. A great celebration of positive images. Congrats to Scandal’s Kerry Washington on her awards!

  • Adam

    Wonderful news!

  • Jacob

I agree with @barryinnyc, I’m black and all I see is more stereotypes happening, BET is probably the most stereotyped network ever not all black people are sassy or gangsters or gospel soul. The more you talk about yourself the more people will dislike you and cause more arguments

  • Connman

“Biggest Audience for ‘NAACP Image Awards’ in 4 years” Obesity!

  • Meanie

I’m hispanic & I agree/disagree. How many color(black/brown) ppl win Oscars/GG, Emmy awards. Every award show is White awards.

BET, Telemundo are all stereotype stations. Plus all these stations are white owned so they base off stereotypes.

  • omabin

Kerry Washington kicked major ass in the awards with her three awards and awesome speeches for all of them. Hopefully, this translates into a positive trend for Scandal (even more)

  • Androme

@Barryinnyc, you don’t need one. Whites already had the privileges that Blacks, the Spanish, Asians, ect. didn’t have for decades. You know what happened next. This is the main reason why the NAACP was created.
Fool, why are you whining for a White organization?

  • Anasia

It was a great show and Diane Carroll looked marvelous!

  • dcdsweet

I also agree with barryininc – I watched it for the first 10 minutes and it screamed RACISM! And I did not appreciate Steve Harvey’s racist comments about how the nominees of the “other awards shows” are not supportive of each other as they are.

Agree that the NAACAP is unneeded. Just like how you see people on news complaining about discrimination, give me a break and NOT every award show is white

  • Meanie

@TVMAN so tell me the last time a Asian/Hispanic/AA won a Oscar/Emmy etc. I will wait…………… Now tell me the last time a Caucasian won these awards. tell me how many times a minority won a award. Oh let’s see Denzel, Monique, Halle, and maybe two others out of the 40+ yrs these awards exist.

I tell you ppl always complain we don’t need these organizations. So why it took 40 yrs for a AA to be the star of a primetime network show? White’s always claim how we don’t need these organizations. Maybe if ya included more ppl in ya shows we wouldn’t need them.

@Melanie. Lets see…Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Denzel, Halle Berry, Morgan Freedman, Cuba Gooding, Octavia Spencer, Mo’Nique, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopie Goldberg, Andre Braugher, S. Epatha Merkerson, Charles Dutton, Loretta Devine, Keith David have all won Oscars/Emmys recently.

  • Linda

Meanie is 1000% Right about this

I am Happy that the NAACP IMAGE Awards are here. Its let’s us see all the Asian/Hispanic/AA actors and what they do in there work .And it also gives them a Award and praise for all the great work that these Actors have done .

  • Thoughtful

TVMAN,Barryinnyc ..perhaps some organizations are formed to advance the social and economic welfare of it’s members as well as to honor those within their group classification who have made significant or noteworthy contributions. Unless you are of the opinion that all is well here in America…the struggle continues for many. The month of Feb is celebrated by some as Black History Month. Why not begin the month by honoring and celebrating Blacks that have made a noteworthy contribution during the past year as the NAACP Image Awards attempts to do?

  • Chris1791

That is interesting you claim that the NAACP awards biggest ratings in 4 years. While The Hollywood Report said “The NAACP Image Awards (0.8 adults) was even with last year’s showing on NBC”.

So, is the a political and racial agenda of TVbythenumbers or what?!?

  • Holly

This is a press release.

  • MeMe

To say the NAACP is not needed shows that you don’t know the history of the organization or what it stands for. Believe me the organization is needed.

  • Jeff Zucker

    Barry. STFU.
