Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Ultima: Nikita is doing worse not just because of the ratings comparison, but because of its position on the Renew/Cancel Index. It’s lower than Nikita and will likely go lower, just like Ringer did.

Also, with regard to ratings, how many times do we have to repeat that an average of .4 on FRIDAY is the same or BETTER than a .5 on a WEEK NIGHT?

    Try to keep up.

  • Darkridedan

I hope they don’t move Shark Tank. Deciding between Undercover Boss and Kitchen Nightmares is hard enough. Going back and throwing in Who Do You Think You are was crazy. I hope Fox moves the new episodes of Kitchen Nightmares to Saturdays @9.

  • mark

The CW Network should cancel the Beauty and the Beast and Nikita get a negative result with few spectators. The numbers are the numbers!

  • John A

Supernatural did fine last yr being on friday but Nikita fans just seem to forget that. I mean doing 1 tenth better than a repeat of TCD is laughable.

  • tscchope

Ah finally a Friday picture that is not Fringe. The relief.

Really can’t see WB turning down a chance to get a show into syndication. That’s years of future income for WB from Nikita

  • SarahL

I watched Nikita last night online. I know this show has its devotees, but even putting aside its implausibility, it is poorly written and acted. Lyndsey Fonseca is the only bright spot. She can do much better than this show.

  • Bizarro

At this rate, does it mean five years from now we’re going to celebrate when our favorite shows get a 1.0 rating?

  • Loey

CSI NY deserves another season. Please let it be!

  • DougF

    @Brownsville

“Nikita might’ve dipped but you guys forget real quick how low Nikita’s ratings were before it moved up an hour. Nikita is consistently one of CW’s most viewed shows of the week.”

You just made me spit my afternoon coffee

When you say consistently most viewed, did you mean least viewed? If you are talking about overall viewers. Let’s just take this week for example. Now Nikita’s final won’t be known until tomorrow but the track record has been it either stays relatively the same in overall viewers or goes down 10’s of thousands of viewers. So let’s for argument sake say it stays what it is

    CW Overall Viewers this week
    Arrow 2.97 million
    VD 2.56
    SPN 2.12
    BATB 1.72
    TCD 1.38
Nikita 1.37 (keep in mind the 2nd half hour it was 1.32 million)
    EO 1.33
    HOD 1.32
    90210 780,000 viewers

This week Nikita was closer to the least viewed than it was the most viewed. Therefore it is not one of the most

SarahL: “even putting aside its implausibility”

Not any more implausible than the ridiculous Revolution which is currently a “hit”. It’s a spy show, which genre is hardly noted for “plausibility” in the first place. Maybe you think James Bond movies are “plausible”? How about Alias that ran multiple seasons? 24? Nikita is no more implausible than any other spy show or movie.

“, it is poorly written and acted.”

Another person who assumes an Oscar or Emmy performance is required to be a “good actor”…

Everyone on the show is an excellent actor with the possible exception of Noah Bean and Dillon Casey who don’t impress me. Maggie Q is excellent, Shane West is excellent, Melinda Clarke is excellent, the previous star Xander Berkeley was superb and so is Aaron Stanford. Even Devon Sawa is good. The only one who isn’t that great, besides Bean and Casey…

“Lyndsey Fonseca is the only bright spot.”

…is her. She is adequate but hardly the best actor on the show.

As for poor writing, that’s a laugh. The dialog is great – especially the lines Aaron Stanford gets – and the plots are well thought out and paced. There are very few obvious “plot holes.” Before this season, this was very little in the way of “filler” either within episodes or across episodes. The stand alone episodes this season have been the show’s worst mistake so far.

  • Bob

CBS is really the only network that has viewers. They are a very lucky network. The rest suck pretty bad.

  • Richard Steven Hack

John A: “Supernatural did fine last yr being on friday but Nikita fans just seem to forget that.”

And that’s relevant how? Put any OTHER CW show on Friday with the possible exception of TVD and see how they do.

“I mean doing 1 tenth better than a repeat of TCD is laughable.”

And TCD, 90210, and pretty much every other CW show except TVD and Arrow doing its ratings barely a tenth or two better on a WEEK NIGHT is laughable, too.

Again, no one is saying that Nikita’s ratings are GOOD. NO ONE! What we are saying is that they are IRRELEVANT.

Something the Nikita haters like yourself appear to be unable to remember any more than Supernatural’s performance on Friday.

  • Dave

    @Richard

    Amen! ;)

  • Bizarro

    @Dan
Yes, I’m so happy that Nikita will be renewed but I’m also happy that season four will be its last season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bizarro

Okay Bizarro, I had the name first so shouldn’t you please be Bizarro2 or something?!
