@Matt – No I don’t!! I’ve never called Elementary a flop etc. I said in my first post that its numbers last night were fine! I’ve always said its a middling drama for CBS – not a flop and not a huge hit. Same as HFO (which I personally love) and most of the other ten pm shows this season.

I KNOW he said retention. My point is that the reason H50 had better retention was because it started earlier.

Yeah you “whatever” me because you know I have a point. And for the record, I’m not a fan of Elementary. I just find it ridiculous that people are belittling its 20 million viewers at 11:11pm to past midnight. And I don’t comment every time on H50. I just reply on comments that sounds ridiculous, like your “H50 better retention” claim.

I know this is about Elementary, but I can’t stop thinking about next year game, which is on FOX: which is going to be the lead out show? New Girl or The Following? If The Following keeps strong and gets renewed, it would make a strong case for the spot, but putting New Girl there along with another comedy like Raising Hope might be the key to save their Tuesdays comedy block. Thoughts?

New Fan Bingo: it started at 11:15.
Like starting half an hour earlier would launch it to 15.6 or whatever. Nonsense, earlier start would gain it some 10% or 15%. Flopementary would be in 8s, still it would be 2nd worst lead-out ever (beating out only 11:10PM Alias). Flop. Counting in it’s CBS, epic flop.

So where did that 10-15% gain came from? Something that would make your claim correct? Ok.

About 21 million viewers and 7.8 in 18-49 is actually better than I expected. The show started way past 11:00 in the East Coast, hence people don’t normally watch broadcast dramas way past 10:30 in these day of age. Plus (cue Fan Bingo Excuse Card comments, I dont even watch the show), the Post-Super Bowl report/interview ran a bit too long, viewers were probably tuning out during that time.
Also I noticed that Alias started also around 11:00.

This Thursday episode ratings for Elementary will probably justify if the show actually attracted new audience. Well for now CBS is (and should be) happy with this ratings.

@Mon – last year when HFO was the number one ten pm drama on any net you said many times that it was ‘weak’ when clearly it was nothing of the sort.

Please don’t try and pretend you’re some sort of ‘rational’ commentator when it comes to HFO. Not that I could care less. If HFO got cancelled tomorrow it wouldn’t matter in the great scheme of things. It’s only a tv show. Same as CSI Miami, Elementary and any of the rest of them!

  • Carrie

LMAO @ the ridiculous ‘FLOP’-py trolls who are hating on Elementary’s ratings. Is it standard for you to put your brains up your butts when you comment on this site?

Let’s all pat the pouty brats on their itty-bitty heads. XD

  • Mon

What? You must have mistaken me from someone else. I didn’t say that H50 “weak” per se. The only time I remember commenting about H50 last year was when I replied on some comments that said the Lori character was dragging the ratings down. But when she left, the ratings still went down. So that’s it.

  • Dell

Elemantary Yay! I hope this brings more viewers to Thursday when it airs regularly.

  • sarah nz

Well done Elementry – 20 million and 7.8 ratings for much delayed start !

I take back my comment on earlier polling thread and elsewhere, with so much against it time wise because of the electricity problems it still held onto decent audience.

No way to tell (just speculation) but I’m fairly sure even alternate showing or TBBT/2BG/H5O/PoI couldn’t have got a better audience at that time of night.

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

It must be sad for PoI fans that PoI will NEVER get this kind of numbers, bahahaha!

  • bluejays

Oh sorry Mon. I thought you used to comment on HFO for the last two years after it replaced Miami and said over and over it was weak. I must have messed you up with someone else. Again. Apols.

  • Petar Ivanov

Ok gays lets say it this way so Elementary fans to be happy.

Its not Elementary fault, its CBS fault. They made mistake so its their antirecords, not Elementary one. I think we all can agree on that topic and move on.

  • Mon

It’s ok. And that’s definitely not me you’re talking about because I’m not one of those bitter Miami fans.

  • Carrie

Wait a minute…what’s with this thing that I see with PoI vs. Elementary fans? I happen to love both dearly. In fact, BOTH shows are the reason that Thursday night is my favorite TV night of the week. (That hasn’t happened in quite a long time for me, actually.) Regardless of what naysayers/haters/trolls like to say, I do enjoy the fact that both shows air back-to-back, and personally, I would like for it to stay that way next season.

  • bluejays

@Mon. Don’t know who I must have gotten you confused with. Anyway, sorry that I tarred you with that brush :)

  • Petar Ivanov

That is what i try to explain. Elementary fans think that people critic their show here and in all other tv sites. But most of the people critic CBS bad decision making not the show. Unfortunately elementary will stay in the history with this antirecords, not CBS executives. THEY(cbs executives) deserve the blame. Elementary is good 10 pm show.

  • Sonicphoto

It was not a flop, the show aired in other areas at 12am, it didn’t air in the hour it had to be, I thought it was going to get normal numbers, but it still managed 20.8 millions so that is excellent. I wasn’t even suppose to be up at that hour, I should be sleeping, but since I love and support the show I stayed up to watch it. It’s not even tv shows hour so yes it did great, deal with it.

  • Mon

Don’t worry we’re fine. I actually read a lot of those comments and I found them ridiculous.

Anyway, I have nothing against H50. In fact, I watched it regularly in its first two seasons (thus, I know Lori!). Just got tired of Wo Fat, I guess. I actually find the weekly bashing of H50 every Tuesday ridiculous because it’s going to get renewed (for at least 2 more seasons – reaching season 5 at least) so hating on it and rooting for it to fail seems unreasonable. I don’t know if you remember that comment I made in the CBS renew/cancel index page a few weeks ago.

  • Petar Ivanov

In the end if Elementary start beating scandal will be some success. at least will stop abc momentum with that show.
