TV Ratings Monday: 'How I Met Your Mother' & 'The Carrie Diaries' Hit Highs, 'The Following' Down, 'Rules of Engagement' Premiere Solid

CBS was number one with adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On CBS, How I Met Your Mother earned  4.0 adults 18-49 rating up 8 percent from a 3.7 on January 21. The season premiere of Rules of Engagement garnered a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating, down 14 percent from  a 3.6 for its previous season premiere on Thursday, October 20 but up 48 percent from a 2.1 for its season finale on Thursday, May 17. 2 Broke Girls scored a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating down 3 percent  from January 21’s 3.7. Mike & Molly notched a 3.1 among adults 18-49 down 6 percent from a 3.3 on January 21. Hawaii Five-0 scored a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating , even with January 21.

On Fox, Bones earned a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating down 12 percent from last week’s 2.6. The third episode of The Following scored a 2.9 among adults 18-49 down  12 percent from last week’s 3.3. Your predictions were too optimistic.

On ABC, The Bachelor garnered a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating down 4 percent from last week’s 2.5. Castle earned a 1.8 among adults 18-49 down 10 percent from a 2.0 on January 21

On NBC, The Biggest Loser earned a season low 2.0 adults 18-49 rating down 13 percent from last week’s 2.3. Deception notched a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week’s series low.

On the CW, The Carrie Diaries garnered a series high 0.7 adults 18-49 rating up 40 percent from last week’s 0.5. 90210 earned a 0.4 adults 18-49 even with last week.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT.     I don’t think 2 Broke Girls did well because the ad was terrible and so is the show. The show’s use of stereotypical peripheral characters is completely insulting, plus the bad writing is a total waste of the talents of Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs.

    The failure of “Deception” is the best news “Hawaii Five-O” has seen this season.
    H50 was getting 2.3 ratings when mid-seasson finale of Revolution aired. It was in no danger even if Deception would have much better ratings – that is above 2.0 in demo.

    Super Bowl promotion for the return of the “Robin Sparkles” gag.

    The 2BG and M&M promos were enough to put me off both shows. The promos made M&M look like the worst show ever made.

    @Lets not go over the top about ROE. I mean a TBBT repeat could get that rating in that slot. A original dropping 0.9 from that lead in isnt great.

    The Following did better than Terra Nova, Alcatraz and Touch did in their third airings. If it holds this rating next week, it will be a lock for renewal.

    Yea for five 0! One of the best shows from CBS. Looks like CW may well give B&B a season 2 which has been growing and getting solid numbers.

    Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs has great chemistry. And both are funny and good. Not get this 2BG hate all around. You read to much this old critics. Its second best CBS show. OK after TAHM but only because TAHM is with monster 6.0 TBBT lead-in. 2BG will be at least 7-8seasons. And deserve it.

    It doesn’t matter people watch TV to be entertained not to be lectured by their favorite TV show ;) They need to keep politics out of TV shows in general..

    Hm, may be i was wrong. Rules fans may start to be worry. Its down a lot from last season premiere and won’t have TBBT lead-in now. Doubt that will be so stable and we can see Rules for around Partners levels 2.0 in April and even below that in May. In the end mat be this is last season. Doubt that CBS will give one more 13 episode season.

    SO happy to see Rules of Engagement back! Too bad CBS didn’t do a little note promoting or it probably could’ve matched (it close to it) last years premiere. Hope fully it goes up some and stays above a 3.0 and it should be renewed.

    And great job HIMYM!!!! #1 show for the night, who saw that coming. Well deserved, it was a fun episode
