Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Didn’t read all the comments so not sure if it’s been mentioned but I read a report that it dropped to a 1.0 in the second hour.

So everyone saying the show’s been revamped and is apparently good now…those views must not be shared by everyone watching it last night if people may have tuned out.

  • Montecore

If Vegas got 10.22 million viewers why is anyone even talking about canceling it? By they way that does not include the people like myself who recorded the show on my DVR and watched it later.

  • Joseph A

Thnx , had not read through the 14 prior pages of posts :)

Not a horrible drop off from 9:30 forward put a drop from 1.3 – 1.0 seems significant.

  • Ultima

Why are the ratings based on people under 50 ? From my experience, they don’t sit around watching TV as much as my friends, who are all over 60

Now, just apply the basic principles of supply and demand.

  • Ultima

How many shows get cancelled each year that have averaged over 10 million viewers?

Last season – Unforgettable (later picked back up), Rob, CSI: Miami, Desperate Housewives, Terra Nova

That’s for a full season average (Live+7 with repeats). If you are asking for at least one episode, it’s a lot more.

And of course, as you go back in time, the numbers skyrocket because there was less viewer fragmentation.

  • Joseph

If “Smash”‘s ratings stay this low, our own Cancellation Bear will devour the show by the end of the month!

  • Ultima

If Vegas got 10.22 million viewers why is anyone even talking about canceling it?

Total viewership compared to an arbitrary value is a completely meaningless measure.

Adults 18-49 rating relative to the other CBS dramas is what you want to use as a baseline.

  • Bizarro

    Too bad for Smash.
They are all terribly attractive women.

  • bluejoni

Bye bye Vegas !!! what a horrible show !!

  • Jess

I watched Smash last year, but I heard Jennifer Hudson is on there this season, so I’m staying as far away as possible. Cancel Smash!!

  • ateofi

Ouuuuuuch for Smash. I predicted it should do better than Do No Harm but still 1.1 is disaster. NBC is virtually dead without The Voice and Revolution following it.

  • BH

    OUCH at Smash!

  • bryer

    shut up stupid skank

  • Jesse Cardoza

YAY!!!! for both NCISes. Shame about Vegas and the episode just got interesting too. :(

  • Ultima

    shut up stupid skank

Well, at least you admitted that I was right!

  • Mr Mumble

This weeks numbers for NBC are very scary for us Community fans :( . Where’s the TVBTN poll? :)

  • Skylar James

ABC did good with The Bachelor, they should move the show to Tuesdays next season with The Taste, and maybe move Shark Tank to Mondays. Making Mondays and Tuesdays their reality show days might actually work.

  • Greg

    Smash. Wow. Ok, moving on.

How weird is it to see Mindy growing? I was really expecting it to not return next season, but now it’s beating Raising Hope. It just goes to show how Ben and Kate was really killing everything here.

  • SF Gay

    Look at the bright side.
If it wasn’t Smash..rathings will be really(yes REALLY) low.
Look at The New Normal numbers last week. It was so sad, th lowest ever.
So we should be happy NBC finally got rid off the the New Normal and put other shows. Any shows ill have much(yes MUCH) higher ratings than “The New Normal”. Please confirm that The New Normal is cancelled!

  • Jay

    Smash got smashed!
