World Cup Qualifier on UniMás ranks as No. 1 most social sporting event on Wednesday, February 6
MIAMI – FEBRUARY 7, 2013 – Univision Deportes, the sports arm of Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced that its live coverage of the World Cup qualifier featuring the Mexican National Team against Jamaica ranks as the second highest-rated telecast ever on UniMás among Total Viewers 2+. Additionally, Mexico vs. Jamaica ranks as the second highest-rated sports event across all Spanish-language television in the current 2012/2013 season thus far among Total Viewers 2+ and Adults 18-49. This builds on recent ratings successes where the Mexico vs. Denmark international friendly on UniMás on January 30 positioned the network as the No. 2 Spanish-language network for the entire night, behind its sister network Univision and surpassing Telemundo by +51% among Adults 18-49 and +45% among Adults 18-34.
In a match that concluded with a 0-0 draw, the broadcast of Mexico vs. Jamaica reached nearly 6 million viewers who tuned in to all or part the broadcast on UniMás. Airing live from the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico on Wednesday, February 6 from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. ET, the Mexico vs. Jamaica World Cup qualifier averaged 3.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.9 million Adults 18-49 and 1 million Adults 18-34.
The match between Mexico and Jamaica made UniMás the No. 1 Spanish-language broadcast station during the time period in the following markets:
