Predict the Ratings for the Premiere of 'Community' - Poll

Tonight Community finally returns. Originally, it was supposed to launch in the fall on Fridays, but NBC postponed its debut several times. It will be a new era for the low rated cult comedy after the acrimonious departure of the show's creator Dan Harmon at the end of last season. Will the show's passionate fans accept the new showrunners' take on the show? The season finale on May 17 garnered a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. Its prior season premiere on September 22, 2011 earned a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. How will it fare tonight against the juggernauts of The Big Bang Theory and American Idol? Given what a rough week it has been for NBC, the Greendale Human Beings are going to need a miracle to succeed. Make your predictions below.

I’m hoping for at least 1.4. I didn’t see a lot of promotion for it but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t promoted. Saw Hale on Ellen’s show a while back but nothing else. And I can’t even watch it tonight because the TV has to stay on CBS while I record TBBT for hubby (and me). I’ll stream Community tomorrow.

  • Win

    3.7 million and around a 1.4/5 rating.

  • Boo Boo Bear

Will be musch lower then Whitney for sure! Going to love reading the comments tomorrow.

  • Win

Whitney was bad last night…a 1.3.

  • Lane

1.1 NBC is SUCKING it this winter

  • Cobalt Blue

    Anonymous speaks the truth.

After disastrous two major premieres, Smash and Do No Harm, and many shows sinking like Deception I’m expecting Community’s ratings are not going to be any better. Perhaps a 1.1, but I don’t see the ratings peaking over it’s previous season finale.

  • Oliver

1.4-1.5. NBC has aired promos but they are pretty weak and no-one is watching the network, it’s getting middling reviews rather than the critical acclaim and endless free press attention it used to get, and it’s been off-air for 9 months and it’s now facing TBBT at its peak.

If they hadn’t fired Harmon, I’d be guessing 1.8 or so.

  • Ben

I am glad that NBC is finally airing it, but, it is a Cult show and airing opposite the Big Bang Theory (CBS) might lead to ratings about equal to Joel McHales’ The Soup on E!
There is no good time slot for this show. No matter what day of the week it airs, no matter what time slot between 8 and 11, the ratings are still going to stink. At least NBC brought it back, although for how long, is questionable.

  • Alfred

    1.3 tops

  • Tyler

Remember when this show returned after being removed from the air last winter/spring and randomly came back with a 2.2? Maybe that’ll happen again! The fans get restless when this show is off the air.

  • Michael

Why was this show not put on USA? It could have thrived. I liked it, but its ratings were never high enough to justify being on network TV.

  • Max Vrany

    1.4/1.5 sounds good

  • Matt

I love Community but I think the fans that stuck around for the 1.3 rating will be the ones that left when Harmon did.

I’m guessing a 1.0 or lower. After those SMASH numbers no one can be sure!

  • Oliver

That said, a bold prediction: Community will be the next Family Guy in syndication. I think its ratings suck because it has been trapped in a crappy timeslot and poorly promoted, not because the public have rejected the show.

  • Oliver

It’s too expensive for cable and is a bad fit for USA.

They fired Harmon and the back-half of season 3 was shaky. People don’t care as much as they used to, and it’s not getting the positive press it got last time either.

  • Dan S

I’m guessing 1.2-1.3 simply because it won’t attract any new viewers. I’m afraid for P&R that follows at 8:30pm which is now the only show I watch on NBC Thurs.

  • Tom

    I remember last year when after a three-month hiatus community got a 2.2 and 4.75 million… But the competition is really strong so I’ll say a 1.7 and 3.5- 4 million. #sixseasonsandamovie :)

  • Victor

    1.4 or 1.5 and I’m being optimistic. A 1.2 or 1.3 is more likely.
