Predict the Ratings for the Premiere of 'Community' - Poll

Tonight Community finally returns. Originally, it was supposed to launch in the fall on Fridays, but NBC postponed its debut several times. It will be a new era for the low rated cult comedy after the acrimonious departure of the show's creator Dan Harmon at the end of last season. Will the show's passionate fans accept the new showrunners' take on the show? The season finale on May 17 garnered a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. Its prior season premiere on September 22, 2011 earned a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. How will it fare tonight against the juggernauts of The Big Bang Theory and American Idol? Given what a rough week it has been for NBC, the Greendale Human Beings are going to need a miracle to succeed. Make your predictions below.

  • KJ Styles

1.3, Big Bang Theory will murder this trash.

  • Mark

    COMMUNITY – 1.5
    Parks and Recreation – 1.7
    The Office – 2.0
    1600 Penn – 1.3
    Do No Harm – .7

    Grey’s Anatomy – 2.9
    Scandal – 2.8

    American Idol – 4.2
    Glee – 2.1

The Big Bang Theory – 5.2
    Two and A Half Men – 3.7
    Person of Interest – 2.9
    Elementary – 2.6

    The Vampire Diaries – 1.2
Beauty and the Beast – .6

  • Shabbir

Thanks Conor (page3). I stand corrected

  • Simon

I’d normally say a point or two above how it was doing at the end of the previous season, but with this competition – especially BBT which surely shares a portion of the regular audience – I’m saying 1.1.

  • DaxJackson

Will be interesting to see how Elementary fares post super bowl slot.

  • Luke

I seem to have agreed with everyone else; a slight boost from last year’s season finale at 1.5 rather than 1.3.

Hopefully it’s not as bad as New York Times seems to think…

  • XK

Love the show, but I expect to see a slight drop-off from last year’s finale; 1.2.

  • Community

    Keep the faith! 1.7! 1.7! 1.7!

  • Community

    But let’s just hope >1.1

  • Dan

After seeing not only Deception sink and the premieres of Smash and Do No Harm crash to 1.1 and .9 respectively, Community would be lucky to get above 1.5 but I’m guessing 1.0-1.4. I love the show but at this point with Idol and Big Bang as competition, the show has no chance.

Unfortunately along with Office and 30 Rock, veteran Community will likely end in May.

Other comedies dead this year along with Animal Practice are Up All Night, Guys With Kids, 1600 Penn, and maybe Whitney but I believe Whitney has the best chance of those at renewal.

Parks and Recreation is definitely returning along with Go On and New Normal. Thats my guess but enjoy the final 13 eps of Community.

RIP Community – 5 Seasons and a Syndication Deal

    September 17, 2009 – May 2, 2013 (Or May 9)

  • Dan

Edit – 4 Seasons and a Syndication Deal.

  • networkman

1.4 It does have a loyal fanbase that has missed the show. It shouldn’t do any worse than 1600 Penn.

  • Brian

1.5. A few more eyeballs to see if the new guys have messed it up. They haven’t. BTW, need a poll on Do No Harm’s second episode. I predict that one gets a 0.6.

  • CrystalFissure

If it wasn’t up against the Big Bang Theory, I’d assume it would get 1.8, but it will probably only get a 1.3. I wish Nielsen wasn’t the MAIN way for the people to gather ratings. It isn’t accurate.

  • Pepper

    Hoping for a 1.6, expecting a 1.4

  • tv_viewer

I’ll be very optimistic and predict a 1.8 for Community. As another poster has noted, season premiere usually exceed the previous season finale. The May 2012 finale earned a 1.7.

  • Winger

I was going to be optimistic and say 1.7, but I think 1.3.
Remember when it got a 2.2 last March? That was a good day.

  • DaxJackson

I’m a bit more optimistic after watching it… Also Community had more check-ins on getglue than TBBT haha Not that means anything but I hope for at lest 1.5

  • Mr Mumble

Metered market numbers are hooooorrible (though relative to other NBC shows on the night not too bad). Stick it in with every other NBC comedy not named Parks and Recreation as a likely cancellation. With 12-13 comedy scripts going to pilot expect a clean slate from NBC next year.
