When you look at ratings for this same week last year you realize how much B&B should be praised for whatever they are doing.

Last year Total viewers and HH’s looked like this:

    Total Viewers
    1. Y&R 4,949,000 (-14,000/-384,000)
    2. B&B 3,421,000 (-205,000/+217,000)
    3. DAYS 2,379,000 (-160,000/-651,000)
    4. GH 2,209,000 (-91,000/-684,000)

    Households
    1. Y&R 3.6/12 (same/-.2)
    2. B&B 2.5/8 (-.1/+.2)
    3. DAYS 1.8/6 (-.1/-.3)
    4. GH 1.6/5 (-.1/-.4) <—— ties low

B&B was the only one of the 4 soaps to be up from the year before. The others had bad years in 2012. GH and Days had both lost over 600,000 viewers from the year before. Y&R had lost over 400,000.

You also realize how bad of shape Y&R still is for the most part. They were down last year almost 400,000 viewers from the year before.

GH and Days are recovering somewhat…..up from their disastrous years in 2012. But Y&R is still down. It's wonderful they hit that 5 million mark last Tuesday but they sure do need to garner more viewers and hold on to them.

You’ll see quite a bit of change once the end of the month rolls around for Y and R versus last year. It was at the end of Feb when the ratings really dropped off. They only recovered a bit right before the new team took over in Oct.

I’m glad they are increasing week over week.

Love Days of Our Lives..They have a great cast and the story has been perfect for the cast members…Keep up the good work DOOL…

  • Bill40

Hate to be a pain in the ass but I will post again & again till Sony lets Y&R bring back Eileen Davidson were she belongs as the beautiful Ashley Abbott

  • Bill40

    I LOVE YOU Eileen Davidson

  • robert sprague

I don’t think steve burton is the reason y and r went up to 5 million lets not make him think hes that important he never did any thing for ghs ratings. lets just say it was agood day for y and r. I agree the vampire storyline has to go on gh but keep are lovley lucy the bobbi and lucy scenes will be great together.cant wait FOR THE GREAT GENIE FRANCIS TO BE BACK ON SCENE I CANT BELIEVE I AM ENJ OYING GH AGAIN LIKE I DID IN THE 80S AND 90S LOVE IT .THANKS FRANK AND RON FOR GIVING ME MY FAVORITES MAKE HEATHER LAURA FELICIA ANNA FRISCO AND THE ONE I BEEN WANTING BACK FOR EVER BOBBI ALONG WITH LUKE TRACY ALEXIS MICHEAL CARLY SAM ELISBETH AND AJ THE SHOW IS GOING TO BE GREAT AGAIN. THANKS AGAIN FRANK AND RON KEEP THE GREAT STORYS COMING ALONG WITH ARE 80S AND 90-S FAVORITES KEEP ARE GREATS ON THE SHOW AND I WILL CONTINUE TO TUNE IN THANKS.

  • robert sprague

I THINK DAYS WOULD GO UP IN THE RATING IF THEY DIDNT ALLWAYS HAVE SAMMI AS THERE FAVORITE PERSON. ITS LIKE THE SAMMI SHOW ITS BEEN THAT WAY FOR YEARS. THATS WHAT GH DID WITH THE SONNY CARLY JASON SHOW AND THE RATINGS SHOWED IT THEY DROPPED BIG TIME THANK GOD FRANK AND RON CAME IN TO SAVE THE SHOW. NOW I LIKE SAMMI AND THE ACTRESS THAT PLAYS HER BUT IT SEEM TO ALLWAYS BE ABOUT SAMMI SAMMI SAMMI. GIVE US MORE MARLANA HOPE JENNIFER NICK WILL MAGGIE KAYLA AND ADRIANN .

  • JNewt

That was a really good week for Y&R and B&B. Looks like the Steve Burton debut definitely worked out for them on Tuesday as Y&R was over 5 million that day. B&B is doing so well without Ronn Moss and Susan Flannery.

DAYS still looking pretty strong, that’s what’s really shocking me right now.

GH is on fire, this was probably GH’s best overall week since they started their uptick in the ratings last year. Everyday was over 2.1 and over 2.7 million. They’re going to have a really hot February coming up.

  • diana

I agree with Robert Sprague, GH is doing right by their fans and bringing back all the people who made the show great. And actually giving them storylines! I’d rather see Frisco brought back to mix it up with Maxie and Felicia for one month than to languish on the backburner for years. This is what DAYS does with their vets, except for their “chosen” ones, like Sami. But how boring is it to watch Sami bounce from Rafe to EJ to Lucas to Rafe to EJ, all in the space of a year.
I want to see them use all their great cast. Peter Reckell (Bo) left because he wasn’t getting anything to do.

  • hudson2647

@Diana…. Peter Reckell did not leave the show because he wasn’t getting a good storyline, he left due to medical reasons. He plans on coming back soon in the near future…. until then DAYS is on fire!

  • DOOLfan

Where does it say Peter left DOOL for health reasons? He says he left because he had no storyline. http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/peter-reckell-exclusive-why-i-really-left-days

  • Jenny G

DOOL is holding my attention again. Eileen Davidson is really quite good. It’s a shame she shares most of her air time with Brady, he is gorgeous but, not the brightest bulb out there. Loving Father Eric too!

  • bizzarr1000

y&r puts me to sleep GH TO ME SEEING ALL THE OLD FACEES THAT I NEVER WATCH IS FUN GH HAS CUT BACK ALOT ON THE MOB

  • bizzarr1000

IM A GUY WHO BECAME A GH FAN BACK AND THE 90S AND I DID WATCH PC IT WAS A COOL CROSS OVER SHOW WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO ME Y&R IS ABOT WHOS RUNING NEWMEN I DONT CARE TO ME STEVE WILL ALLWAYS BE JASON NOT MAC OR WHO EVER

  • Mind Flow

The real reason why Peter left was medical reasons.

DAYS really needs to use Kristian Alfonso, I would put her in a relationship with Rafe that way Rafe can get away from Sami and she would have a bigger purpose on the show. Your franchise player since 1983 needs to be used like Erica Kane all of those years in All My Children.

DAYS and GH seems to have gotten its ratings up compared to last year when they both looked dead because of the loyalty not only to the vets but to the viewers. I think a lot of it has to do with better writing and huge improvements in the development of their new characters and younger actors. B&B had already gone in this direction a long time ago not being reliant on the vets and Y&R seems to be doing the same with the new actors on the show which is why the show is in better shape now.

  • Pat

Bizzarr, then you probably need to keep watching GH as its fans seems to like vampires and such.

I’ll stick with Y and R and its slow, boring, but “on point” writing. I prefer realism. Loving it.

Glad to see ALL the shows holding on in the ratings!

  • James

There’s a rumor on the imdb GH boards that Disney is going to offer Prospect Park GH in 2014…which while I have mixed emotions on, makes sense. IF Prospect Park has a hit with the other two soaps, GH will join them sooner or later.

And seems like people on GH know about this, so I am guessin in the spring ABC puts out a release saying Prospect Park gets GH.

However, who knows…GH does great this month in sweeps, another sweeps in May…but the then again, that could just drive up the licensing fee price…

  • JayTN

I agree with JNewt, B&B has held steady – and even grown – since the departures of original castmembers Susan Flannery and Ronn Moss. How many other soaps could perform this well if two of their major players left within weeks of each other. Imagine Y&R if Peter Berman (Jack) and Eric Braeden (Victor) left or if James Scott (EJ) and Alison Sweeney (Sami) left “Days”. Similarly, imagine GH without Maurice Benard (Sonny) or Laura Wright (Carli).

I continue to be surprised that B&B seems to have the least “on-line” presence of all the 4 remaining soaps, yet it is safely entrenched at number 2 (for all the talk about GH being “on fire” and imminently gunning for number 2, the gulf between it and B&B is still as large as it was months ago). This just goes to show people that a series on-line presence – whether it be a daytime soap or a primetime series – is not necessarily indicitive of its actual popularity.

  • 7even

I heard about that PP rumor with GH too and I wouldn’t be too surprised if Disney sold the show to PP it seems like that’s in the works anyways when AMC and OLTL was brought back. My only question about these shows with PP is their television future and where they will air?

JayTN, I agree with you on the whole online thing, we’ve seen it on countless times before that shows either in daytime or primetime that have a huge following online doesn’t mean anything in terms of ratings. The shows without that much attention online are the ones grabbing the ratings like the CBS procedurals in primetime. B&B has done amazingly well without their major players and that’s because they’ve done a great job building for the future with the younger characters. The other soaps should take an extra step in doing the same.

For those who don’t know, the vampire storyline with Caleb came from the GH spinoff Port Charles during its final year a decade ago. That show ended with a cliffhanger, so GH is picking up where that left off.
