CBS has shortened the season premiere of Survivor: Caramoan - Fans Vs. Favorites from 2 hours to 90 minutes. It will now air from 8-9:30 PM on Wednesday, February 13.
Update: A Big Bang Theory repeat will air at 9:30pm.
Below is an updated pres release reflecting the change:
CBS announcedthe 20 castaways who will compete against each other on SURVIVOR: CARAMOAN – FANS vs. FAVORITES, when the Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 26th season with a special 90-minute premiere, Wednesday, Feb. 13 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The spring edition of SURVIVOR will feature the return of one of The Game’s greatest pairings: Fans vs. Favorites. Ten ultimate SURVIVOR fans will have the chance to prove they have what it takes when they take on 10 of their favorite players from the past. Dropped on the exotic Caramoan Islands, the 20 castaways will be divided into two tribes of 10: “The Bikal Tribe,” made up of former players deemed favorites, and “The Gota Tribe,” comprised of ultimate fans of The Game. The Favorites may have an edge because of their experience, but they also have a big target on their backs. Meanwhile, the Fans, although inexperienced, can draw on their extensive knowledge of The Game to give them an advantage. Who will prevail when these tribes collide and the castaways vie to outwit, outplay and outlast one another for the title of Sole Survivor and the one million dollar prize?

What will air in the 30 min slot following? A BBT repeat? A Partners burnoff ep? Lol
“What will air in the 30 min slot following? A BBT repeat? A Partners burnoff ep? Lol”
BBT repeat. I will add that to the post.
Seems to me that the premiere was probably already cut to fill a 2 hour slot, I wonder if they just cut 22 mins of filler/boring stuff? Maybe CBS wasn’t happy with what they saw. Jeff Probst has been on the record saying this will be one of their best seasons
Why would they do that? Reducing a show that grows throughout the night seems an odd choice….further why BBT at 9:30pm? Is it just to hurt Idol or ABC? Or is it to help CSI….would it help CSI? I don’t get it?
“Jeff Probst has been on the record saying this will be one of their best seasons”
I believe he says the same thing every season. Too bad his (lame and unnecessary) talk show won’t live to see a second season.
@Matt
Jeff Probst says that every year.
Well TBBT repeats score in the low 3′s, so this isn’t all bad
Aww. I’d rather a 2 hour premiere. But whatever. 90 minute is good too. An hour would’ve been too short for this season premiere.
Inb4 the Big Bang Theory repeat rates higher than Survivor.
I hope The Big Bang Theory repeat will help CSI !
Still going to be missing Criminal Minds next week
Can CSI get near a 3 next week?
well that stinks. i like 2 hour shows much better
@Dan S “Still going to be missing Criminal Minds next week”
Me too!
Cause cause THE BIG BANG THEROY could really USE THE BOOST in the demo…STUPID
Why am I not surprised w/ TBBT repeat?
From the standpoint of a fan of the show, this makes me worry.
However, this will make my night less crowded, as I have the Duke-UNC game from 9-11 (GO DUKE!!). I guess that I will watch Survivor from 8-9 and then from ~11- the end.
So they have now cut out a whole half hour of footage from the premier they planned to show in a week, or was this planned weeks ago?
I wonder how the TBBT rerun will do against the one that TBS will be airing at the same time. It would be funny if those were the top 2 shows in that time slot.
The things you can do when you can air a sitcom repeat and have it beat 90% of scripted shows on all of network television…
